Hello noob here, just got my splinter z v2, with a cheap wismec mod +tubo software, Ive been using it in wattage mode and I am now trying to figure out TCR mode, what are the advantages to wattage? And what do you typically set the fire time to?

In wattage the amount of juice sent to the heater is steady for the duration the fire button is pressed. In TC the heater draws power as needed to maintain the set temp so it'll work harder when you draw more quickly and do almost nothing if you stop drawing.

In practice they offer a different experience. Some people love TC because the browning can be very even and they don't have to pay as much attention to the heat buildup during a hit. If you have your mod dialed in TC provides lovely temp stepping for early terp hits and full extraction later. Both are great and neither is superior.

How do I get my mod to go into cruise mode? I'm using TCR right now in 20 sec internals, but I'm getting overheating issues

There's a lot of playing around to figure out TCR, you'll have to search through the threads. crew standard should be three clicks I think? Mine is two. Got to be careful not to cruise at too high of a wattage for too long though

Hi guys, I'm a proud new member of the Splinter family. I have a V1 Bubinga and a V2 Blackwood Z. I've got to say I'm loving this thing. I'm running the V1 on 300f TCTi at 30 W and it is almost as smooth as my Ghost but the mouthpiece gets a bit warm. I need to get a mod box for the Z - any suggestions? I run the V1 on a Releaux 2/3 and it does the job, but maybe there is something more visually appealing out there?

VGOODIEZ, I noticed there are no more custom Splinter Z’s anymore on your website... What’s going on? Worried I won’t be able to get one now when the time is right... Is RBT taking a break from production now? I know these are hot sellers. It seems crazy that he would stop making them at any point.

Ryan announced several months ago that he indeed was planning on no longer making custom Splinters of any kind.

@Logic, Ryan was going to stop making them when he exhausted his supply of the mica component & the German Shlott (sp.) glass which he no longer has access to. If you find one, buy it now or buy one 2nd hand.

IIRC there is a splinter Z bundle in the classifieds now.

The disadvantage in Wattage mod is that you can combust if you're not careful.
Below 55W you should be fine, In wattage mod. check for hotspots and the taste each draw.

I've been having some success with TCR on my v2 Z, so far the settings I tend to like is TCR 160 48w .405ohm locked with a 14 sec fire, tho I do tend to run close to the device Hot limit, what variable should I be lowering to keep device overall cooler?

For the TCR value I recommend 120, I think 0.405 it's ok
what do you mean by hot limit? the device feels hot too hot for holding it?

There's a temperature cut off on my wismec vape which I set to 181F, I don't go over but I get close (175F) , also what does increasing or decreasing the locked ohms do?

Well my custom in canary has arrived and I love it.

It seems to like a few more watts compared with the Splinter Z v2

The wood and the German glass is brilliant and beautiful

The Z is a fantastic vape I'm looking forward to seeing whats next from RBT

Lock the resistance (ohms) in TCR and let your mod adjust the resistance in Watt mode.
