Smoking vaporized remains

Okay here's how I see it. Say you have a dub, and you vape it all. It seems that when you vape, there's a fine line between getting ALL the thc without burning it, and getting ALMOST all the thc. So, if I kept the vaped remains, and then when the dub has been vaped, I could smoke the remains. Even though this seems to defeat the purpose of the vape (no toxic smoke), it still seems like I'd be getting less smoke than always smoking joints. The way I understand it, in terms of lung damage, vaping scores very low. So smoking one joint per dub would have less of a negative affect than always smoking joints, since there's not as much material after vaporization. Is my logic sound? Thoughts? I'm going for healthiest/most economical here.

if you want to do this, cook with it or make swampwater.

But otherwise you can smoke it. Ive done it with some success. Depending on your vape you can up the temp too and get more materials out of it.

Vaped remains = ABV. stockpile it and when u have enough bake with it dude. there are lots of recipies specifically for ABV in the "cooking with cannabis" section :ko:

First, I am not aware of any vaporizer that is capable of extracting all the desirable components from the biomass.

I don't see that you'd get any less of the tars and undesirable elements that come from combustion. I accept that AVB has less mass than unvaped material but would you actually roll thinner jays because of that? I actually did this at one time, and I know I didn't.

I did it out of desperation. That was the only material I had at the time. It tasted foul but it did give me a mild buzz. I wouldn't do it otherwise. There are many ways to take advantage of the potency left in AVB, such as cooking or tinctures or QWISO. All of them are better than smoking as far as I am concerned.

There is one reason to smoke AVB: to combat insomnia. You should be aware that the active components in AVB lean heavily towards the sedatives, which is why some people smoke it instead of doing something else with it.

very informative. Will probably try baking with it sometime. Thanks. Between qwiso and baking, which do you prefer?

If you're asking me, I've never cooked with AVB but I'm considering it.

I put about 20g of AVB through a QWISO a few months ago now. I first used the ISO to wash the honey from my glass Extreme parts, but I have no way to tell how that affected the outcome. I got a decent yield that worked nicely when tested. The problem is gathering it from the collecting dish (glass pie plate) because it is horribly sticky, and also I really hadn't thought about a plan for what to do with it once I had it. Most of it therefore is still in the dish. The bit I tested I got by rolling some AVB in it until I had a little ball about the size of a small pea. It was a lot like a freak hybrid of crumbly (like Moroccan hash) and black and sticky (like Afghani). I put it in my Extreme and turned the temperature up. It gave off a decent vapor but not many hits, and I had to crumble it after the first hit. It tasted like crap. It did have an effect, but it's mostly from AVB so the result was kind of heavy. I didn't repeat the experience.

I have this mad idea of taking the kief I've collected and adding the QWISO oil to it and pressing the result as hash. Pretty sure that would be really potent.

i'm new to vaporizing (excluding the fishbowl/soldering iron during the stone age) and this form.

I battle insomnia daily.

the taste of smoking abv is SO HORRIBLE that i can't recommend it.

i'm thinking that "golden dragon" (using everclear {or other grain alcohol} to remove the remaining goodies from the biomass) is the way to go. but i also love brownies

i made brownies with cannaoil using the leaching method found in this thread:
http://www.fuckcombustion.com/viewtopic.php?id=9

and it was super, duper easy.
much simpler than the standard methods of cooking cannabutter/oil.

pretty much idiot-proof (not implying anything there, mind you) and they got me wrrrrecked.
good 1/2 day buzz with a couple hours of near-psychdelic peakage.
highly recommended.

smoking your abv will get ya a buzz.
but it tastes like total crap.

I've stuck the ABV in an emptied menthol, and smoked it with the filter on, and I thought it tasted fine. Like tobaccy.

Lol. ABV is for junkies. I just toss it in the trash. It's gross and nothing good is left in it when i'm done.

I'm gonna buy you all a round of self-respect... drink up!

my abv is the color and consistency of dark roast coffee grounds and i can tell you a 1/4 cup of this leached in oil and baked w/ half a box of brownie mix yields enough to get me waaaay fucked up 4-6 sessions.

junkie or not...the quality of the buzz learnt me this stuff ain't trash yet.

Tossing your ABV is wasteful IMO. But then again, I save my ABV provided it comes from my Myrtlezap. If I vape it in the Supreme or VG I usually toss it.

Either way - THEY ARE BOTH CBD/CBN HEAVY and CAN be smoked in a pinch. (Although I love my swampwater/edibles with ABV)

This is very true. I smoked two "one hitters" of my ABV last night, literally 10 minutes later my body felt heavy and my eyes didn't want to stay open. I definately felt high...and i could've fallen asleep right then.

And for the thread. More than a couple times, i have ended up smoking my ABV once my stash ran out. Other times i will re vape in my mflb and try to get the temperatire really high. Which also works, but smoking it really does give quite an effect...atleast with my ABV

Don't know what a 'dub' is, so I'll use specific masses in my response.

If you had 7g (1/4 oz), and vaped it to completion, or wherever you stopped vaping your herb; you would end up with a reduced mass, depending on how far you had vapid your stuff. You are primarily going to be removing water from your weed, a small amount of cellular matter/plant material, and of course the THC/CBD/CBN. You're left with a very rough cellulose matrix and some actives.

Now, if you smoke your duff/ABV, you're still burning and inhaling almost all of the biomass from your original material, and getting most of the damage.

However, if it takes you longer to consume your 1/4 oz overall, then yes you are engaging in harm reduction, otherwise not.

excellent post.
i think you've done an excellent job of answering the OP's question.

Yeah i personally dont think that smoking the ABV is worth the harm and foulness. As others have mentioned, make edibles, tinctures, or QWISO with it. This will get 99.9% (well maybe not exactly, but you know what i mean) of anything good still left in it without causing major damage and irritation to your lungs.

the type of vape you have and how well you can use it are the biggest factors in how much is left behind in your ABV. For instance, since I got my HA and started using it more or less exclusively, I don't usually even bother to save my ABV from it because of how well it extracts. I can take ABV from my other vapes and fill the crucible with it and get a few nice bags of vapor out of it. Best thing is, this happens without even the possibility of combustion or scorching. I think anyone who's concerned with getting the most out of their ABV, short of smoking it or preparing it in the ways mentioned previously would do well to look into getting a HA.
