I see, thanks for the feedback. There's something else I've been wondering about - is it possible to fill the actual steel chamber with weed as well as the stem, thus increasing the total capacity? Has anyone tried this?

No....the glass stem with the bowl section in the end.....is the bowl. The very bottom of the vape oven....which is the metal piece...should not touch the flower or you will get burnt crappy vapor. So when you pack the flower in the glass stem...you want to leave a space to the end of the glass so the flower does not touch the metal. Also you will want to stir the load....this is true for pretty much all vapes...just some you have to stir more if you want even extraction and taste to go as far as possible.

Basically.....you need to understand vaping a bit to allow your "wondering" to be not necessary or part of what you will experience. Ie...you do not know what you have not experienced.....but get a basic vape that at the least...has good resale value if needed.

Most vapes are tailored to single users.....as the way flower is vaped is not as simple as lighting it on fire and sucking that in with any device.

I've been vaping for a while now. Been using the Atmos Jump for a few years and recently bought the Miqro which I am not very satisfied with, so I'm looking for other options that would be more suitable for me.
But I see what you're saying about the Argo, for some reason I thought there's some empty space between the stem and the bowl.

No the stem fits all the way into the bottom of the chamber, so you can’t pack anything into the actual heating chamber.

I suppose you could, but the material in the stem above the cup would not get heated then and so wouldn't produce useful vapor. While the diameter of the load would be greater without the glass wall thickness (and therefore be slightly larger in volume) the cup would foul and be hard to clean since it'd be at the bottom of a long deep hole.

ArGo was never designed to handle larger loads. If you want to do larger amounts, the best idea is probably to enjoy the normal load as designed, pull the stem, and replace the herb when it gets spent?

Zoppo.......i think you will find something new in vapor power with the MV1....

Not really!

After several weeks with the MV1 I'm back to the Solo II (my throat is nearly o.k., and I had no problems with the Solo's for years).

For those who are interrested here are my ratings for the Solo II, Solo, Mighty, MV1 and Argo (at the end).

Rating depending on the effect against Insomnia:

First and best Arizer Solo II (6 and more hours of sleep)
Second Arizer Solo (5 1/2 and more hours of sleep)
Third Ghost MV1 (5 hours of sleep max)
Forth Mighty (5 hours of sleep max)

The Ghost and Mighty are very similar, I rated thr Ghost higher cause of it shorter heat-up-time.

Rating depending on the effect against pain is nearly the same, cause of the better effency of the Arizers.

And the Argo? Lies somewhere between the Arizer Solo and the Ghost cause of the effect. But I wouldn't compare it really. It's another class - real portable - I see it as an additional-device for on the road. Permanently use may cause health-problems with your throat, cause of the hotter draw. But, for on the road? The best!

I think I'll stay with the Solo II forever, 'cause everytime I tried another vape (Mighty, Argo, MV1) I returned to the Solo II.

Alea jacta est: Solo II = for home, Argo = for on the road!

New Argo user here. I have had it about a week. Coming from the Solo 2 and before that the Solo 1. Picked up my Argo slightly used for $150 shipped.

Love the size and stealthiness of the new device. Dont really see the point of the pop-up top. Hopefully the mechanism will hold up over time. Heats up quickly and provides a nice result that I am used to from Arizer. Good to get rid of an extra AC charger and now use micro-USB. Also had a car charger in the glove box that I no longer need.

Would be nice to have a cover for the opening to keep shmutz from getting in, like the Solo 2. Gets a bit hot. I have already bought some extra stems and a Gong 14mm adapter. Hopefully I won't be needing an extra battery and charger. I typically do 2 to 4 sessions while on the road.

Overall I am happy with the Argo and plan to retire my Solo 2 (4sale on FC classifieds and the popular auction site).

Lastly, Arizer was great about replacing my Solo 2 which was getting Error 7. The device was a month past its 2 year warranty. M&M turned around the replacement device in less than a week. Well done Arizer and M&M! This kind of customer service keeps me an Arizer fan boy!

Well, several of my portable vapes are going to be collecting dust. Now that I've got an Argo, I can't see reaching for my PAX 3 or my Grasshopper, and even my Mighty is looking clumsy and fussy by comparison. I can't wait to go traveling without the worries of batteries or cleaning.

But I do have one concern about the unit I just received yesterday. That is, it rattles a bit. I noticed that the aroma tube has a bit of play at the top, and I thought that might be the cause, so I took it out and shook again. The noise was still there. So I took out the battery, and I held the top steady (both open and closed), but it still rattles.

So, something is loose inside the device.

I'm hoping some of you happy Argo owners can give your devices a gentle shake, see if there is any noise, and let me know. Thanks so much.

Mine has a couple of very minor rattles, including the buttons (did you check that?). No big deal. I suggest you enjoy your ArGo, it's a great vape for sure......and unlike GH is going to work reliably every time you call on it?

Yer welcome. Congrats on a great choice. Time to get acquainted? Don't forget to try intact budlets.

Regards to all.

Thanks, OF!

You are correct, I did not think of the buttons. That's exactly where the noise is, and I'm relieved to hear they all do that.

I already love this vape, and I'm definitely looking forward to getting to know it. I'll try tossing in a popcorn nug.

Thanks again.

Today, my ArGo fell on the ground (concrete) from a height of around 6.5 feet.
I was sure that it could not have survived this. And I knew from the first second that I will order a new one immediately if that would be the case. Those moments in which you clearly realize which vapes have become part of your daily life. It survived, by the way. Nothing broke, even not the glass stem inside.

I really like my Argo. The only thing that bothers me a bit is how hot the outer shell around the oven can get sometimes. Can be avoided by holding it accordingly, but still is a small nuisance. But that's all.

Have Arizer ever provided the names and/or composition of the materials used in construction of the device?
Especially the plastic casing around the oven which can be seen in the teardown. And the silicone/rubber sleeve which acts as the intake air path.

Nevermind I see this has already been discussed in this thread

Been looking at the Argo for my golf outings. I have been taking my Vapcap M but the torch can be a problem on a windy day. I have a Solo II but I would never take that out golfing, I can hear the glass breaking just thinking about it. But the Argo looks perfect!

The only thing I'm a bit concerned about is I live in a state that is forever stuck in the last century. Items like the Argo could be easily confiscated. I could live with having the Vapcap M confiscated, but the Argo or something similar in price, not so much.

Check around for 'storm proof' lighters. They use a catalyst element to keep the flame from blowing out. My personal one is ten years old, still humming along, but apparently no longer made?

This one should work just as well, for a fraction of the price:

Avoid the 'plasma' versions, too little heat to do more than light a cigarette.....which you should not be doing anyway.

As for the cops adding your gear to their collection, you have my sympathy......but it's better to take the loss than start shopping for lawyers?

The Argo is so stealthy with the lid up that if it's not the smell you will be good. I always put something to seal the stem while inside to smell proof it a bit. But from appearance alone it does not look like a weed vape.

Just got my ArGo yesterday and, dang. DANG. You can see what else I have in my signature. Most of you will know that the ArGo is the best out of all of them! (With the arguable exception of the Splinter.) I really regret buying the CFX now, considering I could've spent about $50-60 more and got this ArGo, but eh. Live and learn.

I'm really liking this thing. The main weak points I'm finding are long session times, the display is too small to show much info (it'd be nice to have a sesh countdown timer) and a slower heat-up time than my other vapes. The vapour quality, however, is the best of all the vapes I have. The flavour's very pure and I barely cough even at 220°C. The almost complete lack of throat death compared to my other vapes made me just hit and hit and hit this thing last night. I've got a ton of 18650s (about 10-15) so I've got enough power here to last me a long time, haha!

Issues, though; I'm not being able to get the ABV very dark. I see elsewhere in this thread that ABV doesn't get very dark with this thing but mine's ending up between medium brown and hay brown, usually on the darker end. Does that sound like I'm getting enough out of the ABV or should I be doing something differently? My CFX can cook it until it's almost coffee bean brown.

All in all though, this is an awesome little unit. I wish I'd just shelled out the money for it instead of going with lower-end units.

Edit: Do you guys generally get 4-6 hits out of each temperature step, if you start at about 170°C and increase by 5°C each time you run out of vapour? If I start higher I get more hits out of each temp level but I know some of the valuable stuff is being lost when I start high so I generally don't.

Nope, it will definitely not!

...
This is a must and a lot of vaporizers are not able to cook the material like the arizers do (the Mighty can't).
....

Just got the Mighty Medic (paid by my assurance), with capsules, I checked it for a week, it works! But not like the Solo II or Argo. With the Arizers sleeptime is a little bit longer (30 minutes) and the sleep deeper (cause I'm more refreshed in the morning).

So still the Solo II is the best at home, and the Argo the best for on the road!

I've noticed that the increase in airflow you get when using a metal screen really helps to extract the bowl much, much quicker, especially if it is a domed screen. Without a screen, the holes in the glass chamber clog up and every hit is wispy; with a screen, the airflow is free and I feel like I can vape most of the bowl in 5-6 hits. Before using screens I'd vape outside while walking, and the tight airflow would make me literally out of breath by the time I was finished. I think it was this sensation of breathlessness that lead me to become anxious when I used ground bud before - a feeling I didn't get when vaping whole nugs, which was much easier to draw vapour from.

So I recommend using a screen to get a faster, more even, and generally more pleasent experience.

Has the wattage of the heater ever been discussed? I was doing some digging on the battery for the ArGo and I found this by a very trusted source in the ecig vaping community. 5A battery means this thing *should* be running at under 15w. That doesn't seem right to me, though, the preheat seems a little more powerful than that.

Yes, it's been discussed. And yes, it's running about those levels. Arizer definitely did their homework, specified a cell just able to give the necessary current and 'traded off' the rest for capacity. They gave us as much 'battery life' as we can get from any cell available and still safely power the little gem without wasting capacity to get current capability we can't use. That's the trade off there.

Yes, five Amps max. Twice what Solo uses because Solo has two cells in it's (real) battery so delivers 7.2 Volts nominal, not 3.6. Same power in either case. Air does the same for the same reason. Solo will normally draw about 2.2 after an initial modest inrush, up to almost 2.5 worst case (full battery, cold oven). Not much power, really, another clue it's not convection (which needs much more power under similar conditions).

Now, it happened: I lost my ArGo, together with 5g of wonderful weed, my nice leather pouch and a brand new replacement battery. In Amsterdam. Cause I got high... I simply left it at a table and it was already gone when I came back 10mins later. So sad. However, I already found out that there is a shoo selling Arizer Vapes 700m away from my hotel. Please keep your fingers crossed for me, that they have an ArGo on stock when I go there tomorrow morning! So glad that I have an "emergency Dynavap" with me!

A true bummer indeed. Cruel as it is to say, lucky you're in Amsterdam...... In most of the allegedly civilized world you'd be SOL.

Once again, 'saved by the backup' as well. Pity so many of the new guys ignore this detail, some fraction of them are bound for serious grief down the road by not having a backup. Sad lesson.

Fingers crossed they have stock (or can tell you who does).

Regards to all.
