Like many here, one of the reasons I frequent these forums is to read threads in order to glean information on vaporizers such as their function and effectiveness. A part of this information gathering usually entails looking at the quality and type of materials used, device specific or general design features, construction methods, and the durability of the product. The aspect of durability leads me to my questions for anyone interested in answering:
What is your longest serving vaporizer, and how long has it been in use?
Whether this is a vaporizer that is still in use by you, or one that you've used and retired/sold/broke/got bored with/lost etc. in the past, I'm curious to see what kind of long-term usage your vaporizers get, as well as to see what devices have held up for people over the years. I suspect logs and most butane based units will be popular answers, but that's just conjecture on my part.
What sparked this for me is that I recently used my Volcano classic for the first time in just under a year. This unit was purchased in 2004, and was a daily driver of sorts as I mixed combustion with vaping pretty regularly back then, and it was used in this fashion until about 2012. Life circumstances dictated that I could no longer smoke or vape indoors, so my Volcano usage frequency dropped dramatically pretty much overnight. I still have the opportunity to use it a few times a year, and it still works perfectly. So for me, depending on how you look at it, the Volcano has been my longest serving at just about 15 years. However, since it's no longer my daily driver, I also consider it to be about 8 years of service from that perspective.
In addition to my Volcano, I've owned a Pax 1 that worked from 2012-2017 and was used almost daily until the mouthpiece/on-switch stopped working. It was replaced by a Pax 2 via warranty replacement. That was used for about 6 months and was subsequently sold. All of my other current vaporizers are less than 2 years old.
