I've had varying degrees of 'fit' with stems in Splinter V1's.
First V1 the included stems fit well, but heater unit came unglued, I was sent a new piece.
New piece (V1+), the included stems would not friction fit, they were just loose, and I had by then Xl8r & jr by RBT and those were both loose as well. I questioned fit wit Scott at vgoodiez and he exchanged for another V1+.
With latest piece the stock, included stems fit perfectly, xl8rs are still both a little loose, and new cooling piece from DDave fits very well. Stems from those previous Splinters all seem loose.
I haven't decided conclusively, but I now attribute most of the 'fit' issues to variation in all the stems.

I love these vapes, and I'm a completely satisfied customer. Thanks again @VGOODIEZ !

and btw, I'm managing to use the @DDave wet/dry ultimate cooling stem with water (beautiful!) and have, with creative/funky connection used that with Grasshopper and Mighty effectively.
With Hopper, I use the Performance Front End and it fits just inside the 'stem' of the bubbler. Not a true glass joint type fit, but it works just fine.
With Mighty, I use @Ratchett 's v3 water tool adapter AND put the Hopper's PFE over the top of it, nice snug fit over that silicone, thence to the bubbler as with hopper.

In my opinion I think the variation comes from how high or low the mesh screen above the heater is seated in the female glass. Sometimes, the glass is just a hair higher and it doesn't allow for the stem to sit far down enough to create a good seal.

I have multiple RBT vapes and the same xl8tr stems will fit differently in a couple.

Good observation, this is what I suspected with the first unit where I had the no-fit trouble, and it may very well explain many instances of poor fit.

indeed. My Mi1.5 wont take anything but the thick glass stems that came with my Mi2 and one that Ryan sent w my wenge z, though dont know if it was a bonus that shipped with or the standar that USz comes with.

@badbee, I would assume if you could find say 1mm(?) by were 17, 18, 19mm o-rings & the wrap the stem with 1 - 3 o-rings it might work. You won't know unless you try.

Google search. e.g.:
http://www.oringsandmore.com/silicone-o-rings-19-x-1mm-price-for-10-pcs/

The stempod has a removeable o-ring that sits in a groove that will hold stems in place even upside down. Some use it, others don't.

Thanks Summer, I've seen references to the Stempod o-ring but didn't understand its purpose. I'm curious to try an o-ring with a Splinter stem but suspect it will cause as much new aggravation as it solves. I'm sure there's a reason it's not the standard practice.

Vgoodiez got my replacement xl8r to me in 3 days so I'm happy there won't be any more of that hot lung discomfort.

Hey all... I come with both sad and happy news.

Cyndi will need to have surgery in the near future so she did not want to take on the RBT CS role. We wish her the best medical care and a speedy recovery and I am sure she will be vaping soon.

Exciting news is that RBT has taken on a partner that will be running the www store and CS. Please send any CS related inquiries his way at joe@rastabuddhatao.com and he will be sure to respond inside of a few days. If you need immediate assistance you can call me direct at 518-491-4812.

...and more good news is that @khelek41girl is training to be the RBT service and repair center in the US. This is a natural fit with her work to make mouthpieces and there are plans in the future for her to do some unique custom work that will complement both brands. Please follow her on IG and pick-up some of here fine artisan work soon.

Piss my pants excited that these two parts of the business are in the hands of people that are passionately engaged in this community... this is what its all about.

Look for fun and exciting things to happen real soon and so many thanks to all of you that have helped create RBT.

@khelek41girl made a marble wood RBT stem for me recently that I've been meaning to share here.
(I know it's in a Milaana, hope that's not too off topic.)

Hi everyone !

I've had a splinter V1 with a paranormal dna 250c box mod for a few days now but i'm not sure i get the best performance out of it and i have a few questions for you.

So i uploaded @HerbieVonVapster FCshare splinter profile and tried it. The cold ohms where 0,261 and i locked it. I think i read that it has to be locked but i'm not sure so can someone confirm please ?

In Escribe it says that if i slightly unscrew the atomiser from the mod i shouldn't have much variation on the cold ohms. Does that apply for the splinter also ? Because i get big variations.

I tried to run the thermal case analyser but i stoped because the green line keeps oscillating quickly between -0,005 and 0,007 every few seconds although it should stay at 0,000 right ?

So after a few bowls and tweeks of the resitence, i upped the cold ohms to 0,271 (instead of 0,261) to get good results. Does't it seem too much ?

In use the results are not bad at all but i feel it could be better.

Is there a way to tell if i set everything up correctly ?
Do you think about things i should do or check to make sure everything is as it should ?

Thank you !

That resistance sounds on the high side and I think I recall Herbie saying unlocked is best for a dna. The Herbie profiles are awesome and take nearly all the guesswork out of the Splinter/box mod marriage for sure.

Are you using both TC and wattage? My V1 is on a Paranormal at .24ohms and unlocked and 50W with great performance from 350 to 390°. I also have Frank's theme installed, which is an upgrade over the stock one.

It's worth adding that I never shoot for a session vape temp range up to 430°. I like all my Splinters more or less cranked so they do flavor hits around 350 and are fully extracted by 385-390°.

So, with my recent replacement xl8r stem I ordered some rimless basket screens to try a deeply placed basket with a rimmed basket top. I expected the rimless basket would friction fit inside the ground part of the joint but it doesn't. The fit is tight at the opening of the joint and the basket only goes in when pushed firmly (used a skinny pen). Once in it flops around and will turn sideways. It falls all the way down to the first pinches in the stem. There looks to be a very slight ridge inside where joint meets stem but it isn't enough to secure the basket.

What's the deal? Is there a trick to getting the basket to friction fit inside the joint? Maybe the outer opening of my joint is more restricted than usual and so once I pop past that the joint barrel is bigger and won't hold the basket.

Metal has "memory" In a vape I made out of the one my stems (bunch of glass spheres with screens to hold it in place and torch to heat) Try stretch it a bit more and then put it in.

The thermal case analyzer will oscillate and should not stay at 0. Thats normal. I definitely recommend running it it improved my performance. Takes about an hour or 2.

Ive had mixed results sometimes it works better with the ohms locked other times it works better unlocked not really sure why this is.

And my advice is to just keep playing around with it. Took me about a half ounce til i really felt like i dialed in the settings

I’m having issues too. Splinter V2 paranormal 250c. Downloaded the settings and seems temp is way too low? I can get vapor, but have to up the resistance from .25 to .27 and do a 10 sec preheat?

Just Increase your temperature, I mostly use @HerbieVonVapster paranormal 250c profile at 460f. Increasing your resistance works fine as well if you would rather see a lower temp number in your screen but DNA devices function best with resistance unlocked.

Edit: there is also a “hot” material file you can down load and usefrom the fcshare site

Let me be the first to welcome you to Fc, @Mr. pickles.

I found that if I wanted a rimless basket screen to stay in place I was having good results when I made the basket screen as needed from a flat-screen. The screen seems to grip better as it tries to make itself flat again.

I bought the screen forming tool from Delta 3d Studios.

Am I supposed to enable replay on the profile? I can't seem to fully understand how that works for TC. Also, is there a way to enable autofire?

No auto fire with DNA mods, and yeah for TC try using higher temps than you normally would. It is all relative for each individual user, I would also of course recommend wattage power mode

What wattage do you have it set at for TC? My issues were always using too low a setting

45w with a 50w punch? The default settings on the herbie download. Does messing with the soft-hard punch settings do much? How long do you normally preheat for?

Thanks for all the help guys!
