"I'm on it,
@Fat Freddy! I can't say anything else just yet, but trust that I took your request for wood to heart and am actively (!!!) exploring some solutions. Have some faith and be patient, as "this art stuff" takes a little time, lol. But you won me over, and after I work through the details of the initial release, (which will be housed entirely in sturdy metal), I expect to offer a version with some nice wooden feature(s). :D"

Ooohhhh. That's some sexy wood right there!

My fluxer has finally arrived. First impression, sleek, classy, thoughtful. The magnets are very strong, the whole package screams premium. Look and feel. My vapcaps stand at attention on all 4 corners. Very nice touch. Had I known of blue lights, that's the only change I'd make. I went with simplistic design. Black case. No on light, no open on switch. No battery metre. No top mounted dial. Red light button..

I was all in on all the bells n whistles, but when I thought about it and truly considered all the factors, none of those bells were necessary for me. Further, upgrades cost money. The price of a fluxer is reasonable but for us Canadians, add two or three upgrades, check the conversion rate, and see it can become rather pricey...

Performance. First impression.. 15mm coil. This badboy heats faster than my PSM. I combusted on my second go waiting for the second click. It heats at a pace whereas the second click is almost instantaneous with the first... Off the bat i found it a little strange adapting from psm. The heating/vapor profile was so different I intuitively switched to the dip n sip method which I never got accustomed to with psm. Strange. I've enjoyed my sessions so far, my successive dips are literally about 2 seconds or less, provides nice dense vapor. While FD heats aggressively, it doesn't hurt my throat. It's still a 'soft' vapor. Maybe why I intuitively started dipping n sipping? To easier control vapor production and get bigger hits without combusting?

Back to testing. Cheers

@mr_cfromcali thank you very much sir. A very well made product.

Thank you, @Chandler , for that very thoughtful write-up! I'm glad it got there so quickly and seems to be working well. I'm sure you'll figure out a method that works for you fairly quickly. And if you haven't tried adjusting the temp trim pot yet, you should do so. It comes set to full power (full counter-clockwise), so you can try dialing it back a bit. Min power is full clockwise.

Cheers!

I haven't been very active here, but I am using my Fluxer every day. It's working like a charm and I use it hard. I'm a good test pilot for the most demanding conditions a user may possibly put the device through- like marine environments. Here it is on board my boat while striper fishing the coast of Maine...

My device is with me always, in the hot car, out of the boat, fishing, hunting, casting and blasting... still working like an absolute champ. So happy with my 14mm choice, it heats hard and fast but is adjustable to tone it down if needed. I love this thing!

My, that is one ugly stick!!!! :haw:

Man, I put lanyards on just about everything when I go out. Seeing this made me curl my toes and
my pucker factor shot straight to tighter-than-a-frog's-anus.

Going for largies or smallies?

Beautiful shot!

It's interesting when you think about it how in the year 2019 we can blend the technology of the VC with the Flux IH and they look nothing like what many/most of us started out with as our "getting buzzed" devices!

My first device, like many other folks having just read " A Child's Garden of Grass", was cobbled together with items I "borrowed" from my high school chemistry lab.

CAVEAT: Chemistry is useful, Algebra is not!

p.s.- amazing how you balanced your rod on top of the gunnel like that... with all the wind and waves no less!

Make sure your negative side of the two outside batteries are making contact. I had that problem, the led will come on without all the batteries in but obviously won’t run the heater. I had to bend the contacts toward the middle to fix the issue, figured it was just my unit, no big deal.

Although I do pop in and read everyone’s posts, I’ve been quiet around here for a while, I haven’t had much to add because @mr_cfromcali had me send my beta in for updating with all the fabulous new features of the latest Deluxe and WOW! :o He actually mailed it out quite a while ago & as many of y’all know he always sends a tracking email :luv: But cruel fate wasn’t done with me and once it left America on July 1st , it dropped off the map and... disappeared. :disgust:

I’m used to waiting for stateside packages but usually it’s pretty quick and something like this is unusual. So around the time I began to be really concerned, it popped up again! I got the notification email on the tenth! I picked it up this morning before we left for a 5 day weekend at the seaside and just got to try it out on the balcony of our rental. And it gets two thumbs-up from me, love the illuminated glass and it’ll smack you! It was like an entirely different beast almost and I love it even more!

Using @phattpiggie’s sip and dip method and had a very enjoyable session; have lots of supplies and a feeling it’s going to be a great weekend! Best of all, we brought our dogs so the family is all here and they always love having an adventure together. And fair warning, here’s another dramatic tale for ya: before I could even take it for test flight, catastrophe struck! While trying to unlock the door, I had dropped my brand new toy! F^*#!!! Batteries and guts exploding! :uhoh:

Thanks to the FD’s durable connections and solid construction, even I was able to put it back together easily and it worked. But I have one extra piece (Uh-oh!) whose purpose I can’t figure out, it’s a small black plastic card with the Fluxer’s logo and it has a cutout along the bottom edge. Anyone other than @mr_cfromcali know where it goes? It’s not critical but I would like to restore it to its proper condition.

 Happy weekend everyone! :leaf:

I don't own a Fluxer nor am I on the list for one, but I do follow this thread, and from what I gather, I think that piece is pretty important. If it's the same as the one in the post I'm linking then it may prevent your unit from catching fire.

I don’t have one but remember it’s a protective shield that (I think) slides in at the end of the batteries?

My best guess as to location...

El Jefe will finally chime in here. My 14mm Blue Flux Deluxe had to be repaired twice but is now in the daily rotation. The rotation is basically VapCap....Grasshopper, with a revisit to Craftyland every now and then.

The flux deluxe is a dope microwave!

That first time you look around for your lighter -- and then realize -- 'Oh. Yeah. Right. I don't need it!'

My new addition to the family should be here tomorrow. Exciting times we live in.

Edit: #91 arrived today. Earlier than expected.

Thank you, Mr C. Its a rare thing to have bought something that exceeds its expectations, and I don't just mean the quick package delivery. I spent a few bowls with it tonight, and it all went intuitively and easy peasy.
Thank you again.
You are a scholar and a gentleman.
