I've only used the 160u dabpress bags but have no complaints. I stopped bagging however in favor of just a sleeve around the puck. 30mm pre-press and 2x4 bags, I used to cut off the bottom seam and then cut the bag in half leaving enough to wrap two pucks, but then I read about some stuff about the top and bottom folding not really adding anything except a place for some oil to get trapped. I got my hands on some of the long 2" sleeves and I'm now using just about 1" of sleeve as a puck wrapper and it's much easier to setup a double puck press this way. I've tried second pressing a few times, but don't find it worth the time - the wafers get and alcohol bath instead.

I hate those corner wings that the bags create when you stuff them. I see some people push them in while I have just folded them over. All they do is trap rosin. I'm going to try cutting the bottom off first too.

I can't resist a second press. I usually vape that dab when I collect it, rather than add it to the first run. It's usually a lot darker from the excess heat, but it still gets you nicely toasted.
Sometimes there's enough for several bowls.

Are both ends of the bag open?

That's what I'm doing now. It's working better than bottletech did for me.

Ah @cwheezy you make me laugh! Especially your asking for forgiveness, I love Canadians and we cannot have enough of y’all on FC AFAIC! I’m originally from the US but in Europe for ages, so I understand the weirdness of having two measurement systems bouncing around in your noggin. They do it here in the UK as well, timber is inches and feet and most everything else is metric. Except the Imperial Pint!:cheers:
Our petrol is in litres but yet we still use miles instead of kilometres. WTF?! Makes my tiny brain hurt. :hmm:

ON TOPIC: your rosin is amazing looking! Like, yummy! Is that ~23% about average for that cultivar?

Not really ... I have found that yield tends to be approximately equal to THC content :) ... (for example ... something with ~25% THC yields ~25% return ... that being said, terpene and other cannabinoid content I think also comes into play, but there is also some loss ... so likely the actual calculation would be [total cannabinoid content] + [% loss] ~= [yield] ... so if pressing 5g and you have 30% total cannabinoid + terpenes, then you have 1500mg total cannabinoid + terpenes, assuming 20% loss (300mg), you would yield 1.2g (24%)

I have absolutely no idea if this is true or not ... but have found it to be a good "rule of thumb" to estimate how a strain is going to produce ... I've never seen a strain that's 15% THC produce a yield of >20% ... whereas I rarely see a 25%+ THC produce <=20%.

Edit: Some of my favourite presses have been in the 15% range ... had some absolutely amazing Chocoloppe that only produced ~16% (was expensive per gram at this yield ... but was kinda' worth it :) )

No, I have not. One of my stronger varieties (9 lb hammer) produces really nice, but another, cherry pie produces much less and is a real pain to collect. So I have not found any correlation.

Terpenes mean a lot here to. My super silver haze/kush hybrid tests at 16% but in effect is very strong. I think due to heavy terpenes.

It seems that the trichomes themself are about as potent as they can get, all growing conditions, etc being equal, but the number of trichomes is the biggest factor? When I press out a variety that is listed at 10-15% THC, I usually get around 12% yield. I've also never exceeded the THC % based on my knowledge of material. I did get 28% on my best ever, which was Tahoe OG x Blue Dream (Keep Tahoe Blue), that happened once. But I would say that oil was definitely no better than this 12% yield I am dabbing right now. Some varieties will make for more potent effects but I think that's more to do with the spectrum of components. It also gets to be difficult to measure out your dab and get equal comparisons. I know some have done it but I think it requires a very good resolution scale!
