Discontinued The Grasshopper

I recently received shipping notice with a part. I’m not sure what’s coming but this is good news.
I also had the problem with the serial validation issue others have mentioned.
I really like the Grasshopper bubbler, it pairs well with a lot of vapes, of course it would be nice to have a GH to use it with.

On the HL website. Has a Hopper logo on it.
I think @MoltenTiger found and posted an equivalent Chinese model back in this thread a ways.
It’s supposed to be special and customized for the Hopper but at $70 or so you can find similar at more than half the price. I pretty much did - and my Hopper is still in RMA when I bought my bubbler. Use it with my Furies. I won’t throw more money at HL until I get my Ti back in working order...:peace:

At the special the bubbler was only a few dollars extra. It’s kinda designed so you can use the standard front end or the water adapter.
I really like it but as @Vaporific said you can probably find something similar cheaper, you always can it just that I’m a bit over buying glass that’s almost nice.

Some extra cash flow to cover repairs

Not sure what to do. I bought a grasshopper from the 420 sale. After waiting something ridiculous like two weeks without the item shipping I reached out and was told they were waiting for the bubbler. They gave me the runaround on them arriving for a week and finally I got them to ship the unit with all the 420 accessories but the bubbler. I had also ordered and paid for an extra battery as well.

Well, they are no longer responding to Instagram messages and I’ve asked them to give me an update on the bubbler and batteries and nothing. Should I file a chargeback? Have only ever done that once in my life but a week ago I told them that if they don’t respond it would be my next move. Again no response... do
I file it? Will I never get spare batteries?

I like the unit a lot. It’s not my favorite due to the poor battery life. I figured I would take the risk and Order from them thinking my experience would somehow be different than everyone else’s. It wasn’t.

No doubt. Plus the 100% increase in battery price not too long ago. They’re tying to get the steel case off the ground - and it’s only been 4+ years...:peace:
Slow and steady wins the race  but all the horrible stuff about the hoppers

I admire their dedication and that is why I still stay a customer and a fan

Still got love for hoppers but that's because I look passed delays and faulty statements

I just imagen they are autistic or something

so a little update on the returned grasshopper - so far it is working like a total champ - best it has ever worked TBH. starts real quick. solid lights with no flickering and big clouds with even ABV. hell if it works like this for 6 months reliably i'd consider buying another. when these things work well they offer a compelling experience
they have said they will send my another body piece out which is great(as they failed to return everything I sent them)
still no idea what the $40 dollar coin/token thing they sent me is for.

Hi guys - well, I had sent two GHs back on RMA, each under their own RMA number as you have to create them against the specific serial number of the device, and last week they notified me, in ONE of the RMA tickets, that one of them was shipping back to me (supposedly repaired).

The box arrived on Friday and when opened, to my surprise, both GHs, MP, charger, batteries where in the box. That is, both the one they said they were sending back and the other one which they didn't say they were sending back.

So, I used them last night. The one they said that they were sending back (and did) worked ok. Not as good as the performance of my OG GH, but I ran the session at 4.2 and finished it at 5 and the AVB was nice and brown and the vapor was acceptable. As an aside, my OG GH performance was outstanding...I would run at 4.1 and rarely needed to go above this to get nice full extraction. But, nonetheless, the performance of the returned GH was acceptable and not something I think I can send it back for improvement. All good, right?

So, then I ran the other one...my OG GH....for which they did NOT say in the RMA ticket that it was ready and that they were sending it back. Performance seems to be just as it was when I sent it. Running it max'd on 5, I got Volcano poo looking AVB at best....still more green than I would accept from any other vape and the vapor was on the thin side. Pretty much as I remember when I sent it back.

I did, upon their approval, send both GHs under the two RMAs, back in a single box. I suspect that they fixed one of them and then someone just packed up everything in the bin for my stuff back and that the other one had not been actually service. But, this is just suspicion and I do find vape performance to be a very subjective observation so I can't prove it (and can hardly remember it as it was a bit ago).

The plan for tonight is to run both with the same herb and both at temp 5 and take close up pics of the AVB. I have a cheapo USB microscope that I use to post bud shots and the like and was recently asked to take pics of ground bud and then the resulting AVB and I did so...it was very illuminating. For example, I have heard some folks distain to grind their bud as they feel that they are damaging the trichs too much. Well, in these pics, I used a BCG w fine plate and yes, you can see where they are a bit twisted up but far from being damaged or at least they are still good with me.

So, I plan to do the same with the GH AVB.

Below is some macros of LA Chocolate from GLeaf after it was ground and the AVB that resulted in my EVO at about 1 o'clock on the dial. Its easy to see in these pics whether its been fully extracted (it was def) or not. So, now on to the GH.

"We are happy to remedy this for you as there must have been a mistake. Do you want to send the one unit in for now?

It was everything I could do not to reply "yeah, no shit and yeah, of course I want to send it back...its just a paperweight now" LOL

I was polite and said yes, I want to send it back and left of the "and fucking fix it right this time, you bloody damn wankers" haha...think "wanker" is such a good expletive! haha

I got a similar response when I msged them telling them that my recently returned hopper only has one temperature (ABV looks the same on 1 as 5).

They were like, "Oh, that's odd, we can have a look at it for you if you like".

Yea, thanks.

I posted this in RBT thread and thought some folks here might find it useful.
and btw, I'm managing to use the @DDave wet/dry ultimate cooling stem with water (beautiful!) and have, with creative/funky connection used that with Grasshopper and Mighty effectively.
With Hopper, I use the Performance Front End and it fits just inside the 'stem' of the bubbler. Not a true glass joint type fit, but it works just fine.
With Mighty, I use @Ratchett 's v3 water tool adapter AND put the Hopper's PFE over the top of it, nice snug fit over that silicone, thence to the bubbler as with hopper.

“Clowns to the left of me and jokers to the right...” - SSDD with them. Two steps forward and one step backward as HL continues to demonstrate poor operations and quality control within their RMA process. @beiberhole69 Did they indicate that you’ll need to wait in line like everyone else or will they escalate and expedite your re-RMA? It should the the latter at this point. I can see waiting the first time (I’ve been waiting 10 months for mine) but not for their screw up (or for @Baron23’s and anyone else in the same boat). What a joke...:mental::peace:

We can all rest easy, things seem to be (ahem) right on track;

"We are here with a Hopper Labs update. Hopper Labs continues to push itself to clear the warranty backlog, complete promised accessory development and provide radically improved service to our outstanding customers.

Batteries:

We expected batteries to arrive in May, June at the latest, but we are now into July and have not yet received them. The battery factory reported a number of delays over this timeframe. The record demand for Lithium-ion cells, increased environmental regulation and the recent protests in Hong Kong have all reportedly been affecting production.

We just received an update that Hopper battery production is complete. The batteries will go through a 2-3 week test cycle for quality purposes. They will begin transit to the US shortly after. Our new ETA is early-mid August.

Warranty Backlog:

We have made substantial progress through some of the months with the most units in them. We are now starting to enter June service with May 2018 devices finishing up in the next 1-3 weeks. June through October units are now slated to finish within 2-3 months. If your unit does not require a chamber assembly swap it might be done sooner. We know the wait has been incredibly long and will now offer anyone who would like to trade their warranty for a brand new unit can do so at a 50% discount. You can request this on the warranty portal. This is just another option and not necessary to receive the promised upgrades.

Accessories:

We know there are a lot of people eagerly awaiting the release of both the External Charger and SS case. Both of these products are nearing completion. We have been estimating late 2019 for the release and are maintaining that trajectory currently. We recently introduced the Hopper Glass Bubbler and we will now offer anyone who has a current Case or Charger pre-order to trade that order for a Bubbler which can currently ship in 1-2 days. Contact us at support@grasshoppervape.com to make the switch.

New Unit Shipping

Stainless, Plain Titanium, Dark Grey and Purple Grasshoppers are available for same day shipping. The Glass Bubbler is also now available same-day.

May-July 2018 Servicing Now

It should be “AHEM”. It’s like watching a train wreck in slow motion. Nothing terribly new really. Maybe the new accessories will be available by the end of the millennium circa 2112 :) (ahem )...:peace:

2112? What’s the “Rush”? :)

What do they mean by a 50% discount on a warranty? So I can just revoke the lifetime warranty and get a new one or is this a situation whereby they send out a new one if yours is sitting at HL waiting for repair? Mine both seem to work okay for now but I’d like this answered with greater clarity...

I translate it to mean: "If you don't want to wait for your warranty to be fulfilled you can pay us half the cost of a new unit to fix it before the rest of the line."

indeed! 'Dem my boys! Geddy is doing a book signing near me next week but I'm not going (already met them once and went to a show years ago with the woman who launched them in the States).

Thank you for the translation. I hadn't picked up on that. Of course it could also mean you get a new one at half off and the RMA'd unit still sits in queue waiting for parts, testing or manpower however ahead of everyone else. They make up stuff as they go it seems, still trying to rake in as much cash as possible to stay afloat. Not quite a "fly by night" (ahem) operation but just getting by by the skin of their teeth. I'm in the 1-3 month wait window now and I wouldn't buy another one anyway - I just want one working Hopper...:peace:

I'm sure that's what they meant but how is anyone going to know if it's new or not? I've gotten plenty of "new" hoppers from HL that look anything but.

The Warranty Date Timeframe info indicates they are not gaining ground in the RMA department. They are projecting a month's time per month backlog, assuming you believe their projection to be "current" in "5" months is lol.

The half-off a new unit offer is just another signal that the RMA backlog is an enormous hill that could sink this operation. But it might come in handy if my currently functioning hopper stops doing so before January '20, which is my best guess as to when my other RMA'd-since-January '19 hopper might come back.

I took the dive on the bubbler since I was ordering batteries anyway. It was right there, looked nice despite being overpriced and I'm lazy. That at least shipped and will be here tomorrow. Hopefully the batteries actually happen in August... I could use some new ones.

Nope and can recommend a torch vape or Enano by epicvape

Think I seen two people send their back in after keeping it constantly on for 5 years and the heater starting to be bit weak
