Volcano Hybrid

To be honest I have no interest in the bag method of vaping.
I imagine that air pump is what adds to the bulk of the Volcano's size and cost.

They should just release a smaller/cheaper version just for the whip use-
oh wait they did that, it's called the Plenty.

*They should just release a smaller Plenty with faster heat-up time.

Oh wait they did that, It's called the Mighty.

They should just release a new smaller Mighty that hits like the Plenty.

Does the temperature get hotter on this one? Despite the oil pad accessories, the Volcano has never really had the balls to vaporize hash or concentrates well, if this one was more capable in that department I could see a lot of Volcano fans making the trade in.
I think you will find that the conduction portion of the heating of the Hybrid will take care of the "my Volcano poo still has a lot of green in it" issue.

Now, being able to do traditional hashish in it...well, dunno...I suspect not.

I'll try some concentrate on liquid pad, but I don't have my hopes up. (maybe do a tile mosaic with those hexagonal DabTabs :brow:)

Trate type/consistency and the medium it sits in plays a crucial role in this mostly convective heating.

Enter Markus and Canopy: I predict they will release circular flat teabag trate infused doses

Vertical Integration uber alles !:rockon::doh::evil:

Fantastic review!
I'm so jealous, in a good way.
How is the temperature when using the whip? In other words does it cool down some or does it taste rather hot?
It's here.....Yay (11:20 a.m. UK time)

So here's a brief tale of tape, thus far

The packaging is nice, very snazzy, you get four balloons one of which is the changeable easy valve, and also a whip, plus other accessories, i.e. brush filters, etc, I dived straight into the whip, fortunately, I had the reducer, so I went with that. For those who already have the Plenty, the sketch is similar, in terms of the pieces for the attachments and how they fit together.
Switching it on is different to the Volcano Digit, (please note that at the time of writing, I have not bothered with the Bluetooth stuff) first thing I noted, was the power cord is not attached, but when you attach it and plug it in, the Volcano lights up, not having read the manual, I was kinda wondering what next? Anyway, I just set (pressed) the Heat switch and it started to heat up, it kinda made me jump when it reached the required temp, cos the pump comes on for about a second as the notification sound. Anyway on to the business end, the Volcano Hybrid is exactly like the Plenty in terms of its draw resistance, Sweet!! I am impressed, I absolutely love it, and I have not even started, this is just first impressions, thus far,
The reducer load has rocked me, I would advise that if you are going to use the full bowl, either do it with company, or clear your schedule for the day, this is definitely for the eveing, or last thing at night if you are an insomniac. I was going to say with the whip, you might have an issue if you have weak lungs, but then I just tried the whip with a blast of the air..:rockon:
Let's just say there is no issue, I just gave it a short blast and yeah the assist is real.
Oh and furthermore, just like the Plenty, you can take the herb holder off the Volcano in between tokes or sessions - whilst leaving the Volcano on, another thing to note, is that the timer feature is similar to the 'digit' in that the temps will start to fall after a period of time, unlike the classic. The swivel function on the whip is well thought out and works very well.

Having read some negativity about this appliance from people, (who ain't even got one), I would say go and get one, or at the very least, go and try one and then make (an informed) comment.
Indeed, I was always after the herbalizer because of the 'alleged' superior whip function, but I can say without hesitation that S & B have really nailed this one, proper!

I have not tried the balloon yet, (because I don't have to with a Volcano, as the balloon function is their bread and butter) but the whip function really is the business, this Volcano Hybrid is in my imho, the top of the Big league, The draw is similar to the Plenty, which is superior to the Mighty, it certainly is as good as the Vapexhale EVO, if not better, it rivals my Aromed 4 for quality of vapor, if not probably better, I am impressed and as I predicted, I don't care about the price.

This is the future, and the future is now, well at least it is, in my reality;)

Further update,
I've just loaded the big bowl with ABV and it was excellent, I whacked it up to 230'C and then hit it with a blast of hot air, and it certainly delivered. In addition to the obvious and instant benefits, I can see this saving me money already. As I found it makes the ABV taste nice, in addition to yielding a very nice vibe via the whip, something which was previously unacheivable with (either the digit or) the Plenty - due to its temperature limitations and lack of hot air.

I've also calibrated the Bluetooth now, hmm! I don't know if I will use it, but it's definitely handy to have, as for instance, you can get your phone to ring or play a tune to notify you when the Volcano Hybrid has reached the right temp, if you're elsewhere around your property.
(same for the Crafty, although, you'd probably have it with you anyway!)

not saying:|, just saying:\, without saying:),

Pure Peace :leaf:

My friend,
In answer to your question,
The temperature when using the whip is nice, I have not experienced any hot heat, there isn't any, even when I have used the 'air' to assist the whip, which I have done on occasion.
Please note that the whip is about 3ft long and it does a great job of cooling the vapor, imho, although the end near the Volcano does get hot, a bit like the Plenty does at the bottom end.

Update: I just wanted to add, that the switches on the Volcano Hybrid, are extremely sensitive, you only have to brush the Air button and it instantly responds, it's certainly in a different league to the Digit. Oh, you can also set all your parameters via the Bluetooth App, which is alright when you got couchlock, and it will also notify you via your phone when it's ready - if really want!
It is absolutely doing it:rockon::rockon::rockon:

As usual with these new apps, it's buggy. Sure they'll work it out. IME with iPhone app. Heat and Fan buttons are partially obscured, need a stylus or Lilliputian fingers. And the iterations with For-Next flow settings of temp ramping for specified duration does not loop according to set number of seconds. And, God forbid if you tap the fan button during iteration, it bounces you out. (fan assist is fun, BTW, as Herbie owners have known for years) As usual, I'm a critical dick. More thoughts later on my impressions of performance, but Trypsy is doing quite well there. I've gotten so accustomed to huge, dense hopper rips, need to adjust expectations

I don't particularly care for the 'Hybrid', for My purposes it's a big step back! :myday:

But it looks like, by the S&B site, that they my be discontinuing the 'DIGIT'

while keeping the 'Classic'!

So Only Two Volcano models Only!

I certainly hope not, or I will be forced to buy a Spare 'DIGIT'! :goat:

My Friend; Re The Volcano Hybrid,

You said "it's a big step back!", I'm like, "a big step back to where?" *Eagle Bill and his 'demi jar and heat gun' protoype perhaps?:hmm:

To be fair, I don't what your purposes are, but if actual vaping figures in your purposes, then (this is real talk now) you cannot be disappointed with this appliance. Indeed the heat up time is incredible! Especially compared to the DIGIT, even though that said, I accept and fully endorse the notion that patience is indeed a virtue.;)

Let me tell you this my friend, with this vaporizer, right now! I ain't vaping like no boss, (forget that shit,) I am vaping like a real Don(nette)! Yep, and that's because this vaporizer is the one that actually gives the orders, for the other vapes to carry out, or put another away, it sets the standard that all the other vapes need to aspire to, and sadly most, indeed the vast majority can't, - even come close!

Although that said, you are entitled to your opinion, and also to express them, enjoy your day,

PS; You can be the person who buys my DIGIT if you want, :)

not saying:2c: just saying:peace: without saying;)

@Trypsy Summers Using the whip is it possible to set max temp and obliterate a 100mg load in one hit like it was a Sublimator or a Flowerpot in 1 or 2 hits? Or else you have to take the usual 10/15 hits just like with the bag? In other words, can it be considered a bit more like an on demand vape, considering also the shorter heat up time, or it has to be considered a session vape? I’d love it if the whip mode has this feature.

Crap. It's dead. Won't power up today

Anyone ever hear of a Volcano dying so soon? Strange. Guess that new power plug design has an issue?

IMO, it's designed to be a gentle, stressfree, medicinal session vape. Quite a successful design for that purpose, when it works. There go my S&B shill checks. Double crap

AVB poo is dark and even; Hybrid goes to 230C. No skill or technique is required. Easy use, easy inhale, easy cleanup

While warm up is relatively rapid, the same cannot be said for session time. It's certainly not a one or two hit ripping device. And, like the Plenty, underfilled chambers yield airy, underpowered hits due to the flat wide load geometry

Imagine if it could be hacked and the temp set so high a glass water piece would be needed. Please welcome Titanium Valve.
Or.. a cyclonic Volcano made in partnership with Dyson. :)
Most probably real high temperature would mean a lot less plastic parts and would need a dedicated vape.

Maybe not as reliable as the originals? I bet they learnt a lesson

I would have liked to like to see a mini Volcano, with similar power & functionality but smaller...The Baby V. With the introduction of the dosage caps I thought they might have gone that way.
I’m not sure yet if this offers a lot for current owners to upgrade, but it’s great to see something new in the Volcano range even if the company had to be sold for it to happen.

I guess the Mighty plugged in is as close as we will see to that.

@Poostuff , My Hybrid is probably an oddball -- faulty electronics seem to fail early in their life. And is your avatar pic a crop of a painting by Joan Miró?

Sheesh, I make a silly post with a caption about earthquakes ... then my Volcano stops erupting and we get an actual earthquake a few hours ago. Like some warped Picture of Dorian Gray. My first time. I was nervous. When this building's a-rockin', my knees are a-knockin'

I hope you’re safe.
I’m sure it’s a Miró, I’m embarrassed to say I can’t remember which one I cropped it from.
I hope you get it fired up again soon, my 5yr old classic has such a great vape signature & is still filling bags effortlessly.

My Friend,
I think it is possible, to do that with the max temp, and possibly an assist from the Air switch in short bursts, I say that, as I don't think I have the lung strength to do that in one/two hits without assistance! However, one feature it does have tho, and which I am loving, is whenever it reaches the desired temperature, the air pump turns on for about a second, I like how it expels the stale vapor
(if any) from the tube, which was my main dislike of the Plenty, I think it's sweet how they addressed that irritating issue, even if by fluke. Classy!

I am mystified by your comment, that my knowledge as to medicinal vaping is obviously limited, how so?:hmm:

My friend,
I am really very sorry to hear about your misfortune, have you checked the fuse in your plug, or within the dwelling itself? I know you probably have, but just asking anyway.
Please note that I endorse your point re the airy yield of the underfilled chamber, of course that will be solved in your case with the arrival of the reducer, but in the meantime, have you tried using the pad, I have found that it works rather well with a small load, as it keeps the weed in place ensuring an even spread of vapor, I also found that the small pads which come with the Mighty/Crafty also work extremely well with the reducer for the Hybrid, especially if you want a real micro-dose, imho.
However, inspite of my previous favorable comment re the innovative expulsion of stale vapor (see above), I also have a criticism, inasmuch, as I feel they should have also included a tamper, like the one that comes with the Crafty/Mighty, within the accessories, cos that implement would certainly come in handy when using the reducer, which can be extremely hot, after the first session, when you then wanna change the bowl.

Other than that, I am very happy thus far, although I gotta say I was astonished to hear about your Hybrid, Absolutely!!:ugh:

In order to not cause any future early morning offence to you, may I suggest that you either (exercise free will and) don't read it, or at least wait until the afternoon - in your time zone;

PS; Word of warning;
I'm just letting people know that the side effects of misusing or underestimating this appliance is pronounced, notorious and very dangerous, for example, yesterday after taking in a full bowl, (despite my previous warning - see my review above) I decided to go out for a ride on my bicycle, I mean it was a real sunny afternoon, idyllic - if I am being honest, anyhow, whilst I'm riding along daydreaming in the most delightful (Volcano Hybrid induced) haze of bliss, I'm suddenly jolted back to a harsh, and brutally painful, reality - as I've just clipped a street sign and was then sent flying thru the air on to the pavement. Yep, that's right, Ouch!!:cry:

Moral of the story, follow ones advice, and make sure you use this carefully.;)

Nice new device even though I am not fan of app-controlled Vaporizers...this only opens the door to tons of possible problems (software or technical) while adding little to no benefit. Well at least you don't have to use the app. If I should get enormously rich one day I will probably get one :D.

My VAS must be enormous: usually I check this forum about once every two weeks or so. Now I'm on here multiple times a day just to see if someone posted more about the Volcano hybrid.
Mind you, I am a Storz and Bickel fan owning a Mighty as well as a Volcano classic. Both have served me very well. The Volcano over a decade now, with just one repair and work-up that was very reasonable.
Can't justify spending $700 at this very moment, so living vicariously for now...
