when using a vxh elb cap on the mouthpiece after loading the bowl the herb can be too loaded and then gets pressed down further applying too much pressure on the oven.

Fair enough. That’s very good to know. Not to pack this thing tight at all.

My Reddit contest Ambit arrived today! The closest vape I have to this is the Fury 2, so that will be my point of comparison.

The Ambit is extremely light and easy to palm. The magnetic lid is great, easy to remove and seats firmly when connected. I find the bowl easier to fill than the F2, less messy. The POTV One dosing capsules do fit in the Ambit, albeit snugly, so tomorrow I will test it with the dosing caps.

It does feel like it runs hot. I’m using it around 330 and that’s plenty for me. The taste is rough and metallic, likely due to the kanthal heater. The Fury 2 has better taste but takes longer to generate clouds and you have to draw on it a lot longer to get good clouds. With the Ambit you can sip and sip and get big clouds every time. And it’s definitely efficient, even at 330 it toasted my herb pretty darn good.

I think the controls are excellent and intuitive. I love the double tap to add 30 seconds to your session. The manual does mention the WPA and says it’s included in the box. It’s disappointing that Vivant decided to remove the WPA from the box and sell it separately. Feels like a cash grab on their part and at $80, had this included a WPA, I think it would have sold like gangbusters. The Ambit practically begs to be run through water with its strong heat and I think Vivant knew that.

The effects also come on strong. For $80 this vape is almost a no brainer. It bests the Fury 2 in ergonomics and controls, strength and effects. It loses to the Fury 2 in flavor (although let’s be honest here, the F2 is pretty lame for flavor as well) and likely in material quality. The airpath is also not isolated from the heater, you can see the heater light up from underneath where the air intake holes are.

I’ll report back when I use the dosing caps.

I've not noticed any loss of power hit to hit. The wife and I have power sessioned high heat a few times now... no issues.

Same here. I don’t notice the heater having to reheat or catch up after a draw. I can do back to backs on my beta without issue.
So I was testing at a mere 320 F, I bumped the temp to 360 F and added not one, but two NewVape scoops and can finally say I am quite happy with this little guy. The more I use it the more the metallic flavor fades. It's definitely a little harsher than my other vapes, but given my inventory that's not quite fair. Closest in harshness would e my DynaVap M, but I respect the 'M' too much to say they are close. Really, for the money I should not turn my nose at the Ambit, it just got me plenty ripped!

I did write @Vivant regarding the WPA, here is the response I received today:
"Thank you for reaching out. We made a mistake on the description on the website we do apologize. We will send you a FREE Water Pipe Adapter as soon as we receive them in out warehouse. Please follow up in 1 week for progress.

Cheers!"

So big ups for Vivant doing the right thing.

nice to learn the double click for +30 seconds.
I am wondering how many things have changed since my early unit.

Would have to assume it's the kanthal in the vapor path.

Looking forward to 420vapezone's upcoming review & to see how this compares with the upcoming Fury Edge.

I know it’s the Kanthal because I never got good flavor off of the Dreamwood Glow either, and that uses Kanthal coils.

The Fury 2 has very meh flavor, flat and tasteless on most hits. But I’ll take bland and tasteless over a bad taste, which I’m currently getting from the Ambit. I’m willing to give it time to settle in, and of course I have to keep in mind this is an $80 vape. And the trade off is that it hits hard and fast and the effects are strong.

If it weren’t for the taste I’d be going gaga for the Ambit though. I love the form factor, the magnetic lid, the controls, the clouds, the effects, virtually everything except the flavor.

I too am curious about the Edge. HR has a lot of good ideas but I think their execution doesn’t quite hit the mark. I’m hoping the Edge is a true home run.

Not execution alone, but you have to factor in quality & profitability. Pricing is a tightrope. All in all, since their beginnings in the market, I think they are doing very well. My :2c: ;).

Funny, on the Stempod thread, I don't recall anyone having taste issues with kanthal. :\

Yes, good point on price points. But if I recall correctly, both the Fury 2 and the Fierce were initially priced higher than they are now, and their pricing now feels more in line with their performance.

I may just be sensitive to Kanthal. I did admit to being a flavor snob too. ;)

Well, then, @KeroZen, the kanthal must be skewing the taste. Maybe, they'll upgrade it in a future revision. However, I think that it's the kanthal that is responsible for the voluminous vapor output. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. :)
Wasn't aware that claptons weren't kanthal. Learn something new everyday. ;)

Yes, but with 20%-off sales, how much lower can they realistically go & still make a reasonable profit for both retail & mfr'ing? I think it's priced right now.

You & me both. Your taste assessment of the Fury 2 is exactly on par with mine for the POTV One. Here, like the Ambit, is the trade off for stealthness.

I'm a little disappointed in hearing about the taste... robot farts... :(

I have the Argo if I want better taste... as mentioned it's about trade offs.... looking forward to the quick hits and big clouds tho...

Great info here... I know nothing about coils and metal used in these devices.... I assumed the insides to the Ambit were similar to their Alternate.....

After running over 100 sessions through mine. Taste isn’t that bad. Compares no where near my square did. Then again I don’t think anything will. But shit. That was a bitch to use. This ambit hits everything at $80. Yes. You gotta give up a little in flavour. But shit. What you get for the price. Jesus. Unbelievable. Was happy with this thing from day one.

Considering I won't be able to do a video review I will write it my opinions of my sample unit.

So mine was a white model, this model does discolor over time, very unappealing. It is a lightweight vape that is the size of the Fury (however AMB is much lighter). Upon further inspection, you'd notice the overall design just resembles the Fury; the 6 holes on the bottom for air input, the smooth rubbery feel on the body, the herb screen, and the oven chamber feel very Fury inspired. Not a bad thing and kind of understandable considering how well the Fury line was received. I've previously used the Fury and its clones so I will try and give comparisons of this device to those devices throughout this write-up. The screen is near impossible to read in daylight and feels very cheap surrounded by bezel and plastic. The buttons are clicky but maybe its the plastic section they seem cheap and only the power button has a bit of a wiggle..

Micro USB is at a reasonable spot and it feels like the unit could do passthrough. From my experience, it doesn't, it will start but seems to have issues and may just end the session out of nowhere if it is still on the charger. The included USB cable is kind of a jokes length but I guess its enough if you don't have such a common cable already around. Charge time is definitely very fast but from only 20 minutes of usage, I'd kind of hope so. I've never had it take more than 30 minutes to charge to full and I can see you getting about 10 sessions if the temp is kept under 360. If it's past that I'd honestly expect less (3-6) unless you're ending the sessions early.

The mouthpiece is okay, not great by any means but it isn't the worst I've seen. The swivel flip piece is a bit hard to pull out sometimes since its a very tight space. The magnetic connection is nice but I honestly prefer friction fit design but this isn't a problem. The mouthpiece does get warm/hot over time, like within one session above 390F I can find the mouthpiece itself to be a bit warm on my lips. Normally this was an issue on these hotter days outside, inside I never really had too many issues until it was back to back sessions.
I have also tested the water pipe adapter and think it's a solid design, very basic. Has 14 and 18mm spot but I didn't feel it was the best fit on my 14mm and I didn't get to try it on my 18mm piece but I'm sure it would have felt a bit grippy in that as well. Both mouthpieces use silicone with a simple metal hole screen like the Fury. I have felt the design restricts airflow too much and opted for a screen rounding over in place of the silicone and disc screen. That makes airflow wider and really allows for easier and faster very production in my experience.

The usage is pretty basic and has been covered here enough, but I will discuss how I preferred to use it. Very similar to the Fury as well I would just turn the unit on and start drawing near immediately. You can see the glowing kanthal and the heater is strong enough in seconds (less than 10) to produce some good vapor, especially when you widen the airflow. I turn the unit off mid hit because as the chamber reaches temp the kanthals power dies down moving the vaporization mode into more of a conduction hybrid focus. I've found higher temps will keep the heater glowing longer and past reaching temp. That delivered some scary thick vapor, I am quite confident you can combust using my method as their vape isn't smart enough to regulate the kanthal coil but instead focuses on the temp of the oven chamber. I have also gotten extremely heavy dark abv using my method on low temps so even more confirmation that it is not regulating the coil itself during that stage.

Taste is China.. Its pretty average, I will say the kanthal coil makes the herb flavor not as popping and enjoyable in the beginning and overall. Compared, the Fury had silicone which made the unit taste bad when heated past mid temps like 380F. With use I found the Ambit background flavor to dissipate, but the Fury 1/2/clones background flavor never went away for me just lessened but was still not great. Sadly both devices just don't have that clean flavor I expect with a lot of the American vapes. But for 60-80 dollars and considering its China it's expected and fine, I've had worse vapes so these are acceptable.

Production is definitely killer, I'll repost my video below and it will remain unlisted but using my way I get vapor quick and its dense enough to be mistaken as combustion. As a throwaway vape, starter vape, this is something that I feel is recommendable. Personally, I prefer this over the Fury but also suggested people save money on Fury clones like the Shift instead of spending on the Fury. This is the same price range as clones and the only reason I suggest someone not to get a clone is for CS. All things considering I feel this is a better purchase for a throwaway/starter vape than the Fury as the bang for your buck is greater and you will still have CS available for you.

This video doesn't really show the max potential for the vape but hopefully helps some interested in footage.

I don’t know man. Your claims seem unfounded. Have you tried the unit? Coming from someone who has tried a lot of vapes. Expensive and cheap. For an affordable price bracket vape this is excellent.
I got in trouble on here for explaining my point of view. I have never talked bad about a company before. This one just has been bad since day one and I've personally had bad experiences wich I rather other people not go through wich is why I thought some of use were here. Sorry. I'll Continue to just watch and learn.

They didn’t send me tracking either. They asked for my email but never emailed me anything.
They said they were sending mine awhile ago and never sent tracking or the vape , they replied once to my message saying they would send tracking, kind of messed up considering I won this in a contest. Than today I get a message here from the same company and same person from the company asking if I could test Flowermate products for them. I replied 1st please respond to my message on instagram about the vape I had won in the contest. So I guess they own Flowermate also if the same person is writing me to test those products also. @Jojo_Vivant whats going on ?
