Copacetic

Somewhere North of The Wall
We have more detailed information to share about the Ambit.

@Copacetic you had asked about the construction of the Ambit:
  • Body is Metal not plastic and has a nice rubberized coating for good grip
  • Air path is through Metal path not plastic
  • Mouthpiece is made from both PPSU and PEEK. Mouthpiece is PPSU and close to the chamber PEEK is used
  • Heater is made of – KANTHAL (KTR), the same material used in many atomizers and e-juice vapes

We contacted Vivant to let them know about the confusing wording in their description. Looks like they added the clarification but still didn't change the original incorrect wording. We will remind them again.

We will include WPA's for free with all our Ambit pre-orders as long as the WPA's arrive with the same shipment as the Ambits. The Ambit description on our website doesn't have the confusing wording.

The Ambit doesn't overheat. In fact we like the high temps the Ambit is able to reach. Too many vapes (Arizer) don't get hot enough for medical users who need the pain relieving effects from the higher temp compounds. So many portables are only able to achieve a brown ABV even after a lengthy session of sucking on it forever, leaving a lot still unvaped and leaving your throat dry and parched from inhaling such a high volume of heated air. If you don't want to turn your ABV black, then just turn down the temp, pretty simple solution. However for those true medical patients that need relief NOW or to prevent nausea from coming quickly, the Ambit is perfect due to its fast heat-up, sheer power, very strong effects and ability to let the user choose how far they want to take the vaping of their material. Thumbs up from us for creating a portable that puts the user in full control instead of safeguarding it against users who don't know how to work a temperature dial. :2c:

@Momor We ship to Europe :)

Our pre-production Ambit goes to 230C

Cheers All,
PV
Thanks for addressing all our questions PV
Metal airpath
Metal body
Minimal plastics in vape path
PEEK where plastics are near heat
Kanthal heat coil - well I don't know enough about this to confidently give , but I do know that along with stainless steel, Kanthal seems to be one of the two best regarded metals for this use, and debate amongst 'the learned' over which is the best and safest metal seems fairly hotly contested between these two (titanium seemingly being considered dodgy when approaching/exceeding 'high' temps) so I have to say that I'd be quite happy with this myself

It seems as though the Ambit is poised to stride right to the front of the extreme budget vape pack, and may even worry many of the budget/mid price market.

I eagerly await more FC member assessments.
If folk keep loving on the Ambit the way they have been, then I'm gonna have to sell something out of my collection to get one!

EDIT:
BTW, anyone else having trouble with the 'like' button not responding?

This used to happen with me, but sorted itself.
Now it's happening again.
Dunno what I'm doing wrong

This company is bullshit. Had some shady people working for them I was told. I was also told some new girl was running things and helping fix all the issues people are having. Half the things they make is garbage, but like bad garbage. The other half isn't bad. The vault oil battery and the dabox. The rest is garbage. I told them that she agreed wich was funny. At least she knows and is trying to fix it. But then these utube people that don't vape show up. . I heard they dont like to pay for honest reviews. What I was told. Not sure. Sounds about right..

I don’t know man. Your claims seem unfounded. Have you tried the unit? Coming from someone who has tried a lot of vapes. Expensive and cheap. For an affordable price bracket vape this is excellent.

I have two Alternates and they still work great... no cracking issues as others have reported..... had the vleaf... and only reason I got rid of it was the two minute timer.

I have the air... solo2.... and the Argo.... love them all.... but I still use the Alternate from time to time....

looking forward to the Ambit

So I was just giving a thorough clean and noticed I have a pipe screen in the bottom of my bowl that is removable. Do the productions units have that? And does any beta units have that too? I wanna know if it’s a necessity. Or if I can remove it. Well it does remove. But I wanna know if I can vape without it.

Having purchased two Alternates and with positive reviews, I figured this was worth taking the risk, which was in my view very small at just over $60 USD. The Ambit arrived yesterday, June 15, and I am in the Northeast. Really quick ship for a preorder on June 11th! My Ambit did not include a WPA, yet as stated it is mentioned on the website and in the manual as included. I have emailed Vivant and am awaiting a response.

First impression, this thing is tiny. Smaller than my ArGo, definitely pocketable and palmable. It has a quality feel when holding it, my only initial complaint is it is difficult to swing the mouthpiece open. There is the smallest little indent on the hinge which you may try to use to lift the mouthpiece up, but its far easier to pull the magnetic piece away and flip the mouthpiece up. The display appears to be the same from the Alternate, but with total changes in software. The heat up time is quick and the hepatic feedback is welcome. There is no audible feedback, other than the buzz of the hepatic feedback. Once you initiate the heating cycle you cannot alter the temperature. To change the temperature or turn the vape off when in the heating cycle you have to hold the fire button for 3 seconds. 5 Clicks will not turn the vape off while in heating mode until you interrupt the cycle by holding the button for three seconds.

After fully charging the Ambit, I changed the display from Celsius to Fahrenheit and performed two burn offs at the max temperature. I then loaded one NewVape scoop and set the temperature to a very conservative 300 degrees and got a respectable cloud on my first draw. The flavor was not pure and had a similar metallic taste to the Alternate, which perhaps is a signature of a new Kanthal heating element (Not sure if Kanthal is confirmed as the heating element). I have to admit this taste is a little off putting and certainly not on par with my other vapes with the exception of the Alternate and as such this will become the concert vape, the one I am not afraid of tossing or being confiscated (illegal state).

Please keep in mind I have only done one bowl in this vape and take my feedback accordingly. I do plan on testing further, especially given my back has been playing up since yetserday morning. At the moment, I do not regret the spend and will provide more feedback beyond these initial perceptions with further use.

Edit: @ginolicious there is also a screen at the bottom of my Ambit's bowl, not sure how to remove it. No cleaning instructions or spare screens came with the unit.

I was able to pull mine out with vape critics pick tool lol. I’ve only pulled it out once. Don’t intend to pull it out anymore. Don’t want to mess it up as I don’t know where I would be able to get a replacement. Just looks like a real small pipe screen in my opinion.

I just powered the Ambit on with a freshly charged battery and dry herbs, I timed this. 5 clicks, Power on cycle, to temperature screen to 3 sec press of fire button, to heat up at 320F to one big dense cloud that caused me to cough a bit (hits hard) to power off; less than 45 seconds, the heat up was just under 30 seconds.

Edit: Upon further testing today, the first hit at heat up is the best and in its own right very good. I am playing around with how long to wait before I take a second. The heater does not seem able to keep up and needs quite a bit of time to recover, may have to wait 30 seconds (Still testing)

Received mine today, well yesterday but didn't realize it was in my mailbox until just now....no notification that it shipped at all.

I was a little disappointed that the WPA wasn't included, plus the abuse of USPS priority envelopes as packing material, which they then mailed in a larger plain envelope to save on shipping.

Hopefilly this device is better than the company itself. Haven't tested it yet.

Hey all,

Had a chance to try the ambit pre-production, and there are a few things I hope were addressed in the production units.
WPA didn't fit any of my glass.
The lid eventually becomes resinous to the point it will be sticky and sort of pop up a bit.
The vapor path is very skinny which adds to a thick vapor coming into the mouth at a time and more resin buildup.

After a few sessions/burnoffs, a pretty rancid burny flavor/smell started to form. Was difficult to smell it through the bowl itself due to flower smell, but could easier identify it when smelling through the intake or through the charging port. I'm not even sure how to explain the smell, but was more of a burnt hair / something else smell. The smell faded more and more over time but still never went away completely and always seemed to leak through on the flavor.

This could have all just been from the unit I received, could have been a huge fluke so just waiting to see what others say. Could have been maybe the coil burned up and just forever stank...who knows.

Besides that, I actually really enjoyed the unit. Vapor forms very quick and hits are thick and full bodied. I was pleasantly surprised with how much vapor this thing puts out. In all my tests, vapor was always forming without drawing so full convection doesn't seem completely accurate, but there is a majority of convection taking place in my opinion...hits like a convection unit. I couldn't take the temp much above 395 or 400 as the flavor just got so dark and burny but even at those med temps there was so much vapor forming and good effects too. Super easy to load, I love the magnetic lid, charges quick, mouthpiece is comfortable besides the skinny vapor path. Just a fun, convenient vape to use that gets the job done quickly and efficiently. Was just very surprised by the performance alone, but very disappointed by the vapor/smell.

If the production units don't have that flavor issue, then this is a vape I could definitely recommend, as it checks so many boxes for a portable.

This is an $80 retail internal non-removable battery-powered hybrid convection/conduction portable session vape ($65 with coupon code fvydid20). Popular existing competition in style and function would be the Healthy Rips Fury 2 and its multiple variants. I've been a fan and near daily user of the Grindhouse Shift variant for a while now but, long story short, this new unit has a lot going for it to make it my new recommendation at this price point. It's got flaws and quirks like every vape, but the overall experience is really decent.

And it gets you rrrrripped. More on that later, though.

Out of the box it smells a little Chinese vapey. As you should with every new vape, give it an isopropyl Q-tip scrub and a few empty burnoffs at top temp (I blow through the bottom air intake to help the process). After a bowl or 2 the smell dissipates rapidly.

My unit is not the most reliable turning on. It's supposed to be 5 clicks but if I don't time it perfectly it seems to be 10 usually.

Another oddity is my vibration alert, which is clearly malfunctioning based on conversations with other Ambit users. It goes on for far too long. It's kinda humorous.

https://streamable.com/b2pmi

I don't really need it so I've turned it off for the time being. I'll probably RMA at some point but for now it's not affecting my usage.

The bowl is nearly identical in diameter to the Fury but a bit deeper. The Fury2 WPA fits in fact, albeit very tightly once it heats up. It is useable though. Packed tightly you can get over .2g in the native bowl, but airflow suffers if you go beyond that. It works fine in my usage so far with lighter loads closer to .1- .15g.

The magnetic mouthpiece is interesting. Very portable and easy to use. Cleaning is easier than the native Fury mouthpiece. The stem tends to gunk up pretty quickly at the joint, and it's too small to fit a Q-tip of iso into, so that could be annoying. It's a pretty small unit, though, so easy to drip some iso into and blow through to clean. You need to fully open the mouthpiece for the air path to line up correctly to use.

On first test I got 11 stock 2-minute sessions off a charge. They promise 10 so that's pretty good. The battery indicator is non-linear so it will appear to drop fast. Try not to be OCD because it will give a lot of sessions with only a few bars. I got 2 in while it was blinking empty at me. From fully empty I was able to charge in about 50 minutes with a fast Samsung charger. Sweet. It gets rather hot when charging compared to a Fury but that's probably due to its thinner, lighter metal body if I had to guess.

The screen is very dim and really hard to read in daylight.

Three-second button press to start a session. Once the timer starts after the preheat, you can triple click to add 30 seconds at a time to the stock 2 minutes. Heat-up time is on par with the Fury. The Fury is already pretty quick, so this is good. The thing is, the heater glows like mad on the Ambit during heat-up. Visibly. If you pull quickly during this time you can get a pretty much 100% convection hit in as little as 5 seconds. Or you can wait for it to fully heat up in ~40 seconds and hit it in a more relaxed hybrid style.

Keep in mind the convection draw while heating up is not what it is designed to do and you can you can combust if you're not careful. It's just a neat side-feature of this vape compared to the Fury and variants. It can also combust slightly at top temp if you draw too slowly. But only barely. I wouldn't consider this a flaw, it just allows you to explore the full temperature range of vaporizing if you just use caution on the top end of the scale. It can take the AVB very very dark, very evenly.

One big gripe is you can't change temps mid-session. You have to hold the button 3 seconds to disengage the heater, change temps, and re-engage. Kind of a drag.

Once it gets going this thing puts out a considerable amount of vapor. Clouds roll out of it much more effortlessly than a Fury at lower or high temps. I'm getting nicely booped off hits at 365°F with this. 380-400 is also very nice. Over 400 it starts hitting like a Mack truck. The mouthpiece gets pretty hot at high temps, too, but not unbearably. It's beastly through water (no I didn't get an included WPA like the manual and website said, but I'm not getting into all that... I have ways to convert). You can totally extract a full bowl within the standard 2-minute timer easily if you power through it at high temps.

I think the flavor is on par with the Fury. It has a nice lingering hybrid mouth-coating flavor vibe that stays really pleasant for at least the first half of the bowl. Gets a little roasty beyond that, but not objectionably so.

I get extremely high off this. I can't really explain why. Maybe new vape honeymoon sort of thing, but it has really hit me hard nearly every time I've used it so far. It really delivers on the effects front for me. It gets me heavily stoned rapidly. Nearly as good as anything in my collection in this regard.

I've also tried some twaxing with it. All good on that front. Not as tasty as Dynavap or Mighty twaxing but probably third in line for that task with my lineup. Tons of easy fluffy clouds.

Here's a little demo video of a .13g quick herb-only session. Cheers.

Ive only used rhe preproduction model i was shipped for beta..it takes about 25 seconds to get to temp and vapor is ready on first hit but in my experience if i go over 380 or so it gets a little hot and harsh. And im a high temp vaper. On my mighty im at 405. Ive been using at 365 and big clouds. Bowl doesnt laat long because either its just small or the vape just get so hot that it goes thru material fast.i think this baby shines thru water..cloud city and it help taste and harshness. Im hoping they send us a production midel to compare to.

Then I saw this...I only own a DynaM and love it but I need a small (one handed) powerhouse. It seems this could be it...if it medicates me like a M...I'm all in on it!

Great stuff guys.... was having buyers remorse for a bit there....

I have way too many vaporizers.... haha....

At that price point I had to try it.... it will be used like the Alternate.... out and about and not worried about dropping it or having it misplaced.

Really appreciate all the feedback here

You do not mention any recovery time for the heater between draws. With my production unit I am finding the first draw after heat up is complete to be the best and it 30 seconds before the Ambit can generate a similar hit/cloud. Not the kind of vape you pass to around as it just does not have the power to keep up.

I don't necessarily gauge power hit to hit, but how well it keeps up during long hits. Conduction vapes die off after the initial few seconds and then need time to recover the vapor. With this vape, I feel like I can hit and hit and hit and the vapor doesn't stop unless I stop, similar to other convection vapes.

Also I can get vapor in 3 seconds of heating with an airflow hack but like the Fury the bowl got pressed down and killed the unit.
