Dabpress Rosin Plates

method is to press slow. Just massage the pump up to pressure. Your mileage may vary... especially as it relates to using different materials, in different climates, etc. I am in a pretty hot and humid area.

To correct a previous statement, I guess total time is more like 4-5 minutes but only 2:30-3:30 from the time pressure shows on the gauge.

Start a timer. The first minute or two, just slowly pump it. Mentality is for a nice "heat soak," not thinking of anything else as pressure is raised. Continue to pump and before even on the gauge, peak between the plates and see bubbling gold. Right as nearing this point, mark the time and focus on distributing my remaining pumps slow and evenly over the next 2-3 minutes.

Slow and steady, but too slow or stagnate for too long, and you can (it has happened to me) budder up on the plates even during a hot press. I found it important to keep steady pressure to help avoid this, just keep raising the needle little by little on the gauge and do not give the flow time to settle. This was not a regular occurrence and has only happened to me twice.

Dabpress 6-Ton Review

For anyone who is on the fence about getting a Dabpress, I say 100% do it! I've had mine for about a month now, and I am super impressed. For years, I used a stupid hair straightener and finally invested in a real press.

Upon researching, Dabpress came up as not only the best price, but many on the Rosin subreddit praised Dabpress.. even those building their own press chose Dabpress plates. So with all people recommending it, I decided to order mine.

Originally I was looking at the 3-ton, but with the minimal price increase for the 6-ton, bigger plates and more pressure, I decided on the latter. And I'm glad I did as the bigger plates allow me to squish more at a time.

The unit itself seems very high-quality and sturdy. Just feels really well built. Also the the plates fit together perfectly for an even and full pressure squish.

I've squished a couple of ounces with the Dabpress using high quality bud. I got great yields with the dab press, even at lower temps. That is what I love about it, that I can press at 180f, still get a great yield, and get a better quality rosin with the lower temp squish. I've even use the bottom plate on a low temp to cure my rosin as well.

All in all, I am extremely impressed with my 6 ton Dabpress and highly recommend it. It allows me to have rosin dabs whenever I like, with whatever flower I choose. Really amazing, and also wanna mention that they have great customer service and that it took like a day or two to ship.. so quick!

Love it and can't wait for my next squish!

Always reading here, not usually posting, so lets change that!

Got a chance for two presses tonight, both Think Big, 5g @ 185F for 3 min. 24% Return on some ridiculously sticky honey!

I buy in bulk as part of an almost co-op, everything from the same plant. It's always easy to tell the lower buds from upper and thats how I use them, saving the best for last. As I've worked my way up the yields have gone from ~12-13% up to now 24%, I can't wait for the top colas!

Dabpress and a supply for the win!

Hi all,

so today i should be getting in the mail the 2x4 90 micron and 120 micron bags. I also picked up the aluminum pollen press, which only came as a package with 2x4 160 micron bags.

So i think i will start using the smaller prepress from now one since the bags will match that size. Last week or so i did my first 5 gram press, after prepressing and using a bag. The prepress was the stainless one that came as a bundle for the 10ton. It worked very well and think from now on i will be doing around 3.5 grams prepresses, and using a bag. It seemed like my return increased by several percent. My only guess is the bag is preventing the materila from spreading out to much which may be holding on to some of the rosin.

Was wondering does anyone have the sq. inch of the puck when using the 3.5 to 7 gram aluminum prepress, after it has been pressed? Would save me some time, because i could measure the prepress puck, but thought we wanted the dimensions of a fully pressed puck to use for calculations.

If not, no worries will be able to see after i do my pressing today or tomorrow.

Thank you

EDIT: Though i'd throw this question out to. Does anyone actually trim all the buds to remove most/all of the stem? Not sure how much of a difference it would make but i remember reading not to include to large of stems so they don't puncture the bag, and i though some mentioned stems could old onto rosin as well.

@LongDraw I always remove as much of the bigger stems as possible, if anything it should help prevent punctures/blowouts, but I figure it also follows the "quality in, quality out" methodology.

good point. i think i get most of the big pieces off if they are there, wont hassle then with trying to remove everything. wasnt sure if that extreme would be worth it. thanks!

So ..

I have been enjoying my 3-5 plates with an h frame shop press for over two years now.

And it got me wondering. Any way we can get the new drip tech 10t press frame and pump, but without the plates? In such a way I can use my caged plates that I already have?

Edit: as I understand the pumps themselves are still not in stock? But that would not be a problem, I could order it from the UK.

Edit edit:lol sorry, eaten too much decarbed rosin in cacao butter... Truth is, your press frames are simply a lot smaller then the h frame press. You really did a nice job with that. We actually won got second place again last month at a cup in Spain with the rosin made with our plates. We are really small time growers and sacrifice quite some Flowers since having our, or your plates:freak:

Estoy 3: note to self: do not eat that much 100mg supositories lol... Interesting thing about supositories we tested them from below, zero 'side effects'. You eat them or disolve in hot chocolatmilk and you are in for a very nice experience...Just wanted to share this....for medicinal use for people without experience, and no the need for 'experience' they are a godsend....

I'm guessing you'd have to remove the cage from your plates though.

We hope to have our dabpress brand pumps available for purchase in less than a month. We have completed our 1000 full cycles of stress testing and just waiting for the manufacturer to fulfill our order.

Regarding moving your plates to a new setup, there would likely require some holes to be tapped into the platens to mount onto the unit. We do sell just the frame but it is a custom order through Roger @ the factory. We are willing to accommodate most all rosineers with custom orders when needed.

We have more news coming down the pike, I'll make a post this weekend with the details. We are expanding our DIY offerings as there is a market for the DIY crowd who want to customize their own press and just use specific parts from Dabpress.

That is exactly what I was referring to, we can even remove the cylinder if a rosineer wants to install their own once they receive their frame.

Thx for Quick reply.

Yes, like that.

Actually, @psychonaut I have a friend who is a metal worker and would be able to help me out for sure if my plates need to be 'adjusted' in any way shape or form hihi. Thank you for going to extra mile for us fc'ers by the way:clap:

Glad to help!

Perfect then, it is a simple job for those with the tools! I can provide information for you regarding location and size of holes as well as threading.

Happy Friday FC!

Here are some updates from Roger, as always we continue to work towards the best solutions for our customers to produce their own rosin.

First, we have been waiting for a customs release for our containers reaching the US warehouse, we do apologize for the delay and hope to have these products available in the US warehouse soon.

Now some bad news, good news. Our 12-ton 4x7" AIO unit has not passed R&D after 20 days of stress testing, we were not satisfied with the hydraulics from our supplier so we will not be creating a 12-ton AIO unit incorporating a bottle jack. Instead, we are going to design the 12-ton AIO unit with a hydraulic cylinder, no pump included.

Furthermore, we will be offering our own 10000 PSI pump with gauge. Rosineers will be able to choose a dabpress pump to pair to their hr10t35v and upcoming hydraulic cylinder presses without having to DIY build your own. @LesPlenty I hope you find this news to your liking =)

If everything goes as planned, our new pump should be available in the US within 2-3 months, sooner if purchased from the China factory. We appreciate your patience.

We hope all of our current customers are satisfied, as always we do appreciate your word of mouth support and unbiased reviews of our products.
When will the 12 ton 4x7 AIO unit be available, approximately? I'm trying to decide if I should get the 10 ton drip tec or wait for the AIO. Thanks!

Decided to try a couple new things this week... Had somewhere around 1.5 - 2 oz of old bud leftover from my last grow and thought I'd try my hand at bubble hash for the first time. Turned out fine but definitely hoping to get better at it.

IMG-20190613-152329.jpg

Used my 6-ton Dabpress to squish @ 175 degrees for ~4 minutes. It also turned out okay but could've been better... It's been a while since I've pressed hash and forgot how finicky it can be compared to flower. Had a slight blow-out on the first press, which was the 73u unfortunately (lower-left square). So, the yield wasn't spectacular but I'm happy with the results, especially considering the age and quality of the flower.

Second press I scraped together what I could from the blow-out and ended up just combining it with the rest of the bubble hash (160u, 120u, & 25u). Originally planned to squish them all separately but wellp, got a little impatient.

I double bagged it into 37u bags and tried a directional flow fold (first time doing this too) and was pleasantly surprised with how well it worked! No blow-out, super easy collection and it looks rad spilling out.

Anyway, pretty stoked about it and looking forward to refining my process, so any tips are always appreciated!

Damn I gotta give that a go, I prefer hash rosin over flower rosin quite a bit these days, but still have never jumped in that pool to wash my own. Need to get my feet wet as I really want to add this facet to my rosin toolbox.

That jar of custard looks awesome!

Here's some I pressed yesterday from some dry sift.

imagea1816530d62d0a18.jpg

the best tip I ever heard for avoiding blowouts was to basically apply pressure VERY gently at first so the material forms into a brick; then ease into it more to melt/filter the resin and get the flow going. The visualization of trying to make a brick first helped my rosin a lot.

Damn son, looks tasty!

I definitely got a little over eager applying pressure, I just get all antsy thinking about that golden goodness dripping out  The second press I went muuuuch slower and could see it filling into the gaps, like you said, before I put more pressure on. I'll try to keep that in mind for future runs. The bubble hash was fairly easy to make and I think I like it better than the dry ice method but it was also pretty tedious. Might try to rig something up to automate it a little more... I'd like to process as much of my future harvests like this rather than storing/pressing flower. We'll see, though, I get distracted easily :haw:

Did you do a hand wash or use the washing machine?

I like how hashing condenses things down first. It seems to have a longer shelf life than flower rosin to me. Definitely a lot less actual squishing, and depending on the size of your harvest, it might not even be that much more work for the pre-processing, as large amounts of flower can turn into a lot of work to prep for rosin.

I kinda want to build a tumbler and fiddle with dry sifting since its so simple and lazy. I like the cleanliness you can achieve with bubble though.

I did it by hand, made a PVC stir stick and agitated for about 10 minutes. I've looked at those washers and they're not outrageously expensive or anything, but I feel like I could build something just as effective...

Some of those tumbler setups are pretty epic and dry sift feels a little nicer to work with IMO. There's a build thread on thcfarmer I keep stumbling onto that seems pretty easy to throw together. My next harvest I'm going to try live processing, which probably lends itself better to the bubble method though... chop that sucker down, maybe vacuum seal and put in the freezer overnight, then process the following day. My end-game goal is live hash rosin coupled with Dabpress drip-tech, flowing straight from the press into the jar. :spliff:

I'm on the same page, though. Hash rosin, even the stuff I just made (which buddered up so beautifully btw :mmmm:), feels cleaner... Maybe not the same difference as going from vaping flower --> flower rosin, but it's probably not far off either. Less throat irritation, and a cleaner banger.....
