The Force of the Vapcap runs deep.

I was playing with my new toy the Elev8r a butane heated quartz convection vape and you spin it while you heat it with a torch much like the vapcap.

I use a timer to get the most consistent results, but damned if I didn't wait for the thing to click during the second heat cycle. :bang::shrug:

I'm sure that this has been asked before but it's lost in this 1757 page thread.

Quick question: What makes the VapCap click?

Are there two different types of metal that have different coeffients of thermal expansion?

I gotta know, I'm curious and I want to give some of these as presents and I'm sure they'll want to know.

thanks!

Quick question: What makes the VapCap click?

At the top of the cap, two bimetal disks are enclosed inside a crimped area. When the cap gets hot the disks buckle and cause a clicking sound. Only one disk is required to perform this function, but each cap has two as a fail safe redundancy.

Heating the cap near the digger outter will result in hotter bowl temperature as it will take the applied heat longer to reach the discs. Heat near the top of the cap, closer to the discs and the heat will cause the disks to click sooner. Anything in between offers an infinate range of temps to suit your fancy.

You can hear the disks enclosed inside the cap if you shake it near your ear. If your cap isn't clicking the way your like, give your cap a shake. Sometimes this will better position the captured disks.

Thanks Squiby, excellent description!

I sometimes hear two clicks, I now know why.

.

If you heat a little longer you might get 2 clicks every time, unless they’re just happening so close together that you can’t distinguish them. You could heat it without loading it to test and find out.

Edit: Changed hear back to heat...autocorrect screwed me or I made a typo. :disgust:

Have a question about my Omni xl and the tips. I use my VCs exclusively with my PSM, and for the past week or so I've been getting ok performance with my new ti tip/cap. I've been averaging about 5-6 cycles before it's spent, but lately I'm getting around 2-3 cycles before it tastes really bad. The 5-6 cycle ti tip is around a year old and the new one like 2 days.

Has DV changed the tips and caps? I also noticed my new caps changed hues after just 1 cycle in the psm while my old cap (just logo) has held most of it's SS.

Speaking of Dynavapers.. @Dynavaper hope your good man, missed you here for a while.

My dear @mrb!
Thank you for the kind words, very much appreciated!
I had to become a bit calmer due to my parents (and the ones of my partner) becoming older and more in need of help. Job and other everyday private issues in addition and *whooops* there goes your time. I am well above 40 in the meantime and to accommodate a number of things was way easier 10 years ago... ;)

But I am well, just a bit quiet at the moment.

Cheers & all the imaginable best!

Good day sir. Nice to hear from you. I know what you mean about parents, it’s so funny how many signs there are that you’re getting old, they come from every direction.

Glad you’re well I hope you’re still finding time for the VapCap, or whatever method is tickling your fancy these days

Just my two cents. A few months ago I bought a Shadow M and a single flame torch. I just wasn't digging it, hear me out. I got great clouds and heavily medicated. But I combusted a few times and thought it wasn't worth the effort. So I tried a triple flame and still combusted, and it was difficult to spin. So I set it aside and went back to my Fury 2 and Tera V3 mostly as well as my Proto Pipe. Well last week I got a Caldron induction heater from Pipes, and it is a game changer. I highly recommend anyone holding out, just do it. You won't be sorry. I wanted to see what Dynavap was coming out with but couldn't wait anymore. Pipe's Caldron is so consistent and easy to use. You're in control so much more than any torch. You can wait for the click or hold 1,2 or 3 more seconds, to fully extract everything. I also never grind, just a nug. It's easier and tastes amazing. Works great with CBD flower as well. I believe my two cents is up, thanks for listening. I hope everyone and their Dynavaps have a great weekend.

Nearly identical circumstances here. Hated my shadow M initially (The airflow on that particular 2018 stainless steel tip is really really tight for a noob, in my humble opinion because you'll instantly think your tip is bad! Especially in the wake of the 2019 M tip Fiasco.)

BUT... it DOES make for a great learner device because it really forces you to LEARN the techniques and various flames and do it CORRECTLY or else you simply won't get good results.

Then I got my "Caldron" induction heater from @Pipes and just as in your case, and so many other people's, a Game-Changer! Was like being able to relax and take a break from the hard work and complications of using torches, and simply being able to fine-tune and enjoy my vaping experience!

Then I got my NonaVonG XLS and instantly loved the whole set up even more! The titanium tip is definitely my preferred tip, over the stainless steel tip.

The stainless steel HAS its advantages under various circumstances, but if I had to choose ONLY one, it would definitely be the titanium tip.

Next up, I got a Glass Charlie long spiky stem which I broke a spike on cleaning it the first night I had it and basically gave it an "air port". LOL

Last but definitely not least, I recently picked up a 4 inch "OG Chillum" glass stem and it's become my new daily driver!

Cool vapor, reliable, my titanium tip fits perfectly, The "Honey resin reclaim" after a week is awesome in a cup of coffee using OG stem as a stirrer/straw, and a good sturdy safe feel to it!
(Plus ONLY 4 or 5 Dollars for one, on average, it's pretty hard to beat!)

Coupled with The Cauldron, my torches as well as my other Dynavaps sit stored away on vacation. LMAO

What is Pipes' Cauldron? Not heard of or seen that model.. Only knew about skeletor, jarhead, ps...

The IH is only a game changer for SOME PEOPLE. Many of us can get as good or better hits with our lighters :)

Many like the SS tips of the M. But be fully aware that many DV converts don't have any time for the SS tips at all.
I am a 100% DV convert for over two years now and that would simply not be the case if the Ti-Tips didn't exist.. I hate the SS tips, by comparison and find them way way way less easy/enjoyable!
(Although I can still get high with one)

All of the above isn't meant to tell you I'm right and others are wrong.
It's demonstration that the DV is different for everybody and while it's good to read ideas, thoughts and suggestions from others.... Ultimately you'll have to find your own path.

So if you liked the concept but are struggling with your new M..... Try different things, a new lighter, different heating distance or focus point, looser pack, heating part the click, leaving the air hole open etc etc. But really, try a Ti-tip :)

For me it's Ti-Tips, dual flame, wide open air port, and direct to lung inhale.

Pipe’s Couldron is a corded, smaller (than mPS) IH.

Not a battery powered EDC.

On the subject of tips,

Of course a Ti tip is a Rolls to the SS Ford tip!
The question is, which Ti tip!?

For me, the 4th Gen Ti has the allure of the Tip O’ Tips. YMMV

Land of the long vapor cloud
Greetings everyone.

I hope someone can help me.

I'm looking for a very specific vaporiser.

It needs to have all of the following qualities:

1- Small.
2- Portable..
3- Butane powered...
4- Well engineered....
5- Tubular in shape.....

Is there anything like this on the market?

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
