What box mod are you using / recommending for on-demand convection 510 vapes?

One mod you want to avoid since more than a couple of us had a problem with one of the 4 batteries getting eaten up by the mod to the point that some of us lost cells before we realized this mod ate batteries whether it was on or off.

AVOID THE RX300.
Besides that model, I am unaware of any model specific issue.

I am not sure if I have in fact fixed the issue completely but I was having similar issues as yours with the RX300 I downloaded and applied a patch I found online using nfeTools (I’m pretty sure), then loading the latest sur.myevic firmware (I was hoping to make it work for the g43). This alone didn’t solve the issue but using the eVic firmware I’ve been able to at least ease the symptoms, I just don’t want to say I’ve fixed anything because this is just within the last few days.

To clarify, I first flashed this firmware file https://github.com/ClockSelect/myevic/commit/3899d75f1fc0d69fa937828c3230a79aaaf48491

And then flashed this more current firmware recommended for the G43.

https://forum.vapelife.com/discussion/download/13776/myevic.bin

The battery drain - I went into the expert options menu and then went into the battery menu, which oddly showed one battery slot that was set at an odd voltage setting while the others were zeroed. Once I zeroed out this value I noticed that my batteries appear to be draining evenly as near as I can tell.

Overheating - There are a few things that I have done that seem to be helping with the device reading too hot.

1. Again I went to the expert menu. The third option from the bottom has a temperature setting. I’m not sure if it represents the board temp or what, but I set it down as low as I can, which is somewhere in the 32 degree range.

Next, while still in the expert menu, I moved down to the MAX submenu, the third line down also has a temperature value. This one I set to the highest temperature available (210 degrees).

2. At the same time I had done those changes I had saw a video for folks troubleshooting the device got message on other more popular RX mods and saw that some people have resolution after tightening the screws in the battery bay where they insert the batteries. With the RX300 when you open the door and look you will see 3 small gold screws. Mine felt tight so I loosened them and then re-tightened.

I don’t know which changes have made the bigger difference but what I can say is that I was able to run my G43 last night for multiple bowls back to back with wattages as high as 13 watts. Prior to these changes I would get my device too hot message sometimes just after a 4 minute pre-heat.

So it looks like for the the time being all I can say with certainty is that my batteries no longer drain unevenly.

I am now experimenting with the Splinter V1 and the tubo-x. My splinter is running pretty smooth with the tcr set at 125 (will have to double check the coil resistance later). The tubo-x I’m having a little more trouble with so far.

I’d really love to flash to the latest firmware by @funkyjunky, I just think he has it perfectly dialed in, but I’m kinda afraid I’ll put myself back into the battery and overheating issues.

I just hope this will be helpful to anyone else who bought the RX300 and found it to be a lemon.

*edit 1* clarified the order of the firmwares I flashed as well as links.

Later today I will be trying to run both my splinter and my tubo-x on the Rx300 to see if I am able to use them with success.

Ooooooh. I’ve shelved my 300 as I can’t really justify passing it off to someone else. I’ll have to try. If nothing else maybe have at it again and remove the batts after use.

Guys, beware of fake vapes on AE and DHGate, there are definitely plenty. Even on fasttech, anything that doesn't have the word "authentic" or "genuine" in the product *title* is a fake by definition. It has always been the case on this site.

All major models are copied, like the evics, the picos etc. This used to be an information that circulated around on this forum in the past, but it seems to have been forgotten lately... Keep in mind even FunkyJunky got bitten recently when trying to secure some late evic stocks for his tubo supplies...

So buyer beware! And your local vape shop might also be none the wiser, some find attractive deals on AE and pass counterfeit items around unknowingly.

You made me nervous. I just went back through my FT and AE histories. Every mod said Original or authentic.

I don't know if I got lucky or the situation is better?

I never bought a vape from these places, only mods, and vape or tech related items.

I went back and checked my order, and tho it did not sat "Authentic" or "genuine" it did say "Original Hcigar VT75D". It has worked fine for several months so I think it was an authentic one, but I was concerned when I bought it cause it was cheaper than other vendors.

I did check reviews which were all positive, vaguely recall one even trying to register it with eleaf successfully, but maybe that was a different seller

Yeah, having learned experientially from the maxim "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is", I am always a little concerned when looking for great pricing on popular items. Now and again, tho, I will take a chance if I have some reason to trust, and reviews led me to that in this case.

Figured this might be needed at some point. When Solinter gains popularity I think it's fair for us to have this information neatly organized in a separate thread. (IHeat could also fit here right?)

What mods are you guys going for? If TC works on production models will you only look for mods with TC?

Single batt, double batt, triple batt?

Aesthetics or performance? Size matter? Upgradeable software?

Just looking for the cheapest mod possible that works?

If you decide to recommend a mod, I think it would be appreciated by most if you can categorize it. Cheap, cool, small, techy, etc. If not no worries, may help for skimming tho.

I know this is still on the pricier side but this is a US retailer selling the Triade for $135. They are legit and ship quick.

Yes. They are legit and super nice. They even matched black Friday pricing for me on the triade when it went out of stock before I could buy. Even though it was 2-3 weeks later when it did come back in stock.

I had an issue with a mech mod I bought at the same time and had a replacement part sent out the same day I brought up the issue.

god damn.
I'd been getting "device too hot" on my rx200s with an RBT splinter Z.
Bought a heat sink, seemed to be all g, then last night atomizer short, or no atomizer found. methinks the heat sink shoved the pin down and in, I took apart and no dice.
Waaaah

Aye the 510 is notoriously short on the r200s, I had lots of attys back in the day that i couldnt screw all the way down for fear of pushing that pin in. I also get overheats with it when using dcv2 on it without heat Sink, but have had no trouble using it with my sai (with heatsink) or splinter/z (without heatsink)

Think I'm going to pull the trigger on a sinuous p80 today, seems like lots of people round these parts like em! Want to get a triade 250c soon too, but other than these two am I missing out on any recommended mods?

Nice, bought the p80. Been wanting a smaller mod for ages now, only got huge ones at the moment!

Ahh that's great, thank you very much! Important bit to me is the chip after all!

Hi, can anyone recommend a good mod fro the IMP? Thanks

I'm running my Imp on a P80 and it works fine. Personally not a huge fan of the P80 due to the way that fire button actuates but with the new Arctic Fox capable of autofire, I can't complain too much.

IMO, the best mods are DNA mods. The chip is great and at that price point, the build quality will be better. But its overkill for most and a luxury; not a need.

Is anyone familiar with this mod and manufacturer?

Authentic VapeCige VTBOX250C 200W TC VW APV Box Mod It is a 2 battery DNA250C Mod.
https://www.fasttech.com/products/9675336

On the 15% off sale TODAY for July 4th. Makes it $96.

Enjoy the holiday, everyone!!

I saw the same one. Be aware that this one is notated with 'Ships in 5 days'. Ordering something from Fasttech that is not in stock carries a very high likelihood of a delay.

I ordered my triade under similar circumstances over Easter. Ship date got pushed 4 times resulting in a 1.5 month long delay. If you can wait it out, its worth but something to keep in mind.

Edit: I have two of these and one is a daily driver and it's also a DNA. Some people don't like the bronze but I really like it paired with a wooden 510 vape...maybe not so much paired with a stempod:

https://www.fasttech.com/products/3...uthentic-wismec-reuleaux-dna250-tc-vw-apv-box

With 15% off, it's $88 and will be at your doorstep in 1.5 to 2 weeks. Vgoodiez sells the same (I got one of mine from him...other obtained from FC member) and he has a coupon code too for FC. Super fast shipping from them (although they are on holiday right now) and supporting good people.

Have you tried plugging the mod in with the + key pressed in? This took a few tries for me but I got it eventually. Sometimes the device was showing up as malfunctioned. I believe I also had to reset through wismec's tool that you can download from their site. Worth a go if you haven't tried already. I really can't remember what got it to work because like you're probably doing I was just trying everything in frustration.

This was with windows and a wismec P80 - I think they all have similar boards in them. I even had to try a few different PC's in the end.

Ah I was thinking I'd like to flash my P80 with the new Arctic Fox, but not really in the mood for some headaches lol

No fear, my p80 flashed just fine, as did my r200s the first time, its just that since then I flashed it with the tubo software and now can't get my PC to recognise it so I can reflash it with arctic fox.
