Hi friends, I got an issue with my Imp Beta since it doesn't want anymore to work on TC and shutoff in powermode, I had finally found my sweetspot in TC... until it stops to work. Checked the coil but I can't see anything wrong... any helps appreciated, thanks in advance!

Has your coil resistance changed at all? Mine shifts on occasion and I need to readjust TCR to accomodate.

Yessir! If you have a P80 I can upload my profiles for you to use. I have one well setup for cruise. TCR is 130, resistance at 0.226.

I just got a P80 and would appreciate the settings and profile information. Thanks

Anyone who can instruct me in installing myevic or surmyevic or whatever I should install would also have my thanks.

Installing MyEvic/ Sur_MyEvic on Sinuous P80

What worked for me was I first had to install Arctic Fox using NFE. Then also with NFE I could then install Sur_MyEvic. It wouldn't work without doing one before the other.

I don't know if Idid this right, but here's my dataflash.https://www.mediafire.com/file/2g53u8cn4n1wo75/Wismec_Sinuous_P80_HW_v1.01_FW_v1.11.dataflash/file

Sinous P80 Mistvape Imp settings: TCR 120-145 works best for me. Play around.
I lock the resistance around 0.221-0.228 ohms. 0.226 works best for me.

My PI settings (D is unnecessary) P=4500 I=850
I find this gives me most reliable temp with less fluctuations that default settings.

Cold resistance for me reads ~0.205 ohms.

Turn menu setting AutoFi: ON
Atime= Infinite, though 25 seconds or 20 seconds works quite nicely too if you don't want to have long cruises.

Hope the settings for P80 MistVape Imp knock you out of the park! Should reach temperature in 5 seconds, I often run 225c after a couple hits at 190 for max flavor. Kicks @ss!

Would anyone mind posting their imp settings/PID?

Mine glows at the imp default settings on MV website. It doesn't when I drop the OHMs down to 0.184 at 450F.

Any suggestions?

On sur_myevic for the P80 I MUCH prefer using also > Sweet over PID. MUCH MUCH more consistent temperature, never overshoots, doesn't waste power.

I want to work on porting Tubo Eco cruise control into SurMyEvic. My Imp is getting scorched from high temp cruises over a few minutes. @mistvape I wish it were simple to make a glass internal like the Splinter. Fritted for heat dissipation with a porous wood (bamboo?).

Anyone playing with the new ArcticFox FW? 60 second auto shutoff seems perfect. I roasted my Imp accidentally leaving it on power mode and forgetting to turn it off…

Note for those with Sinuous P80 and MistVape Imp. The P80 body is quite a soft metal and get scratched easily by coins and keys. If you care for aesthetics consider a microfibre carry pouch or something! I don't mind but just a heads up!

I've posted in the impcognito thread, but figured I'd mention here too that I have one on my CuboidMini running TuboFW quite well in TC! Have an AsterRT coming where I will try the new ArcticFox as well. This is quite a portable, an super stealth with the dosing capsules and wood stem. Got to try @mistvaporizer's own Imp too, the cooling stem is quite nice, and I do like the curves of the bigger body. Here's my bloodwood out and about, on a long walk outside on the way to a movie:

^ Do you use Cruise control eco mode? Does the wood not scorch/get as hot on such setting? Keen to hear how you like the new ArcticFox firmware too!

Imo Eco mode doesn't improve scorching and makes the overall usage worse of an experience. If you are getting scorching I'd try and adjust settings pay attention to wattage delivered when you inhale and how your unit heats. I got scorching when I wasn't checking my mod and it would rise to 460+ on heat up when I was set to 420F. Some freak accidents where it went even higher despite being at temp.

I don't believe the new AF supports Aster just yet. So it'd be the older AF firmware Aster users will have to use.

Good news it does work on the aster rt. Updated my firmware last night from af_180903 which was aster rt specific. So far so good.

Fiddling around with it I discovered two different locations that need the 60s cutoff to be changed. iirc one is located in the advanced tab.

I tried earlier versions of AF and had issues loading the firmware. With NFE v181005-00.08 there is a definition file for Aster and this version recognized and loaded on Aster rt.
I still don't have good setting and have had scorching and one combustion event with the Impcognito on the Aster rt running AF
When I get it figured out I'll post a page with setting and instructions.

Yeah never used AF yet so this will be my first experience. I don't think I have eco on, but my cruise is only set to like 90 seconds I think, and I typically stop it early. if you set it to a high temp and let it cruise for a long time I suppose you could scorch something... The way I use it its just so you don't have to hold the button down, personally I wouldn't really risk doing long cruises with this heater, I only do that with a Tubo. I prefer on demand pure convection, where I can clear each hit, as opposed to session style (though that can be fun and useful).

Nice! So there should be full instructions ready by the time I have my Aster, even better! Should be a simple set up.

AF v190602 has been incredible with the Imp so far especially on the Pico. I've even switched over my eVic Dual from Funky Junky as well.

Right now on the Pico I'm using a TCR of 170 with ohms locked at .211 and the pre-amp at 32w. The Dual reads it at .220~ and I have the TCR set to 190 at the same power.

Do you have pi reg off?
I am trying to get the aster rt working.
I tried different pi settings and got close a few times but still searching.
When i turn pi reg off and set tcr at 190 it is blazing hot, coils go red in a short time.
With pi reg on, range 10%, p 2000 and i 300 i was reading 440 degrees F on my thermo couple.
Seems that changing p or i individually can give strange results. Seems like they are inter related but I'm not sure

I have not been using the PI at all but now I want to try those values just to see the difference. The settings I posted above have no glow whatsoever even at 420F which is about the hottest I ever go.

So I tried those PI settings and used the Device Monitor and the results vs using TCR where interesting. Sorry in advance for the picture of a computer screen...

The first picture is with the PI enabled. The red jagged line is the live coil temp, notice how it's not really... flat at all? https://i.imgur.com/qaS0rmQ.jpg

Then you compare it with the TCR170 settings...

Am I doing something wrong with the PI or misinterpreting the data? I'm honestly curious as to what's going on here as I'm kind of new to this more technical stuff.

Turns out I am having trouble setting power vs temp control. My config says temp control for the profile but it insists on being in power mode. I set a new profile and it works fine.
Does anyone know how to switch between power and temp, not in the config setting on the pc but on the aster itself.
@PaperClouds I got similar results in device monitor to yours but my tcr curve wasn't as smooth, but smoother than the PI curve.

3 clicks takes me to the pick a profile menu.
I had a profile where temperature dominant was not checked and that defaulted to power mode.

My apologies. I misunderstood your question.

So, when mine is powered on and in TC mode, I can change the temp by using the up or down buttons.

I do know that if the resistance isn't locked or if it is below 1.5 ohms the Aster will revert automatically to power mode. Could the resistance on yours be unlocked? Doubt it's below 1.5 .

Edit: so I may have discovered something that may help you ... In the settings, if you leave "temp dominant" unchecked you are stuck with changing wattage in TC; however, if you check the "temp dominant" box you'll be able to toggle temp instead of watts.

Easy way to do so using the Aster itself ...

While on, press & hold fire & up button. Go to PID settings, toggle the menu using up & down and select "T.Dom" to indicate ON. Press & hold fire & up to save and exit.

Hope this helps!

Started a set up page for AF
see www.mistvaporizer.com/af
It is very rough yet but if anyone has time take a look. I'm open to suggestions.
I just explain how to load AF and give some basic settings.
Next I want to explain using the Aster RT and document how to navigate the various screens.
And of course give good numbers for the various settings.

I don't know how other people are activating autofire mode with their AF mods but I like to use two-clicks.

Controls tab (3rd one)/Multi-click (2nd one)/Temp Control Mode (2nd box)/2 Clicks: Autofire

is how to set it up...

I set 3 clicks to No Action since sometimes the mod will mistakenly register an extra click... and it's definitely the mods fault, the dexterity of my delicate fingers would never allow for such a rudimentary error

on the last control page/Shortcuts TC, autofire can be set to fire+ +/- etc but it's a lot less convenient than 2 clicks

  • I would add an "If you want to set autofire" bullet and insert @dagfp's directions from above.
  • At the top I'd say these settings were tested on an Aster RT but they will probably work on other mods.
  • You might want to guide people in setting their resistance. I go to Device Monitor when the atty is cold and use the lower of Cold Resistance and Live Resistance, but maybe there's a better way?
  • Personally I think we should be tweaking TCR, not cold resistance levels, but your call.
