What is the mod? I never really need to preheat at 45w with my Z on RX G3D, especially not for 10 seconds... Not sure heater should be engaged that long without drawing ideally. Glad it is working well for you though with your mod
I can get vapor without the warm up, it’s a smaller hit is all.

I was using the original Reuleaux RX200 with the tiny screen but I have a heap of other old mod boxes.

It seems to work just as well on something smaller even the single battery mods, it’s just more stable on the Reuleaux, little ugly but less chance of it falling over.
I haven’t even tried temp control or lower voltage & slower draw yet.

I actually wanted the smaller version but somehow ordered the Z instead.

You probably remember I was in the Zion pre-order a few years back, I got over all that & have been looking at buying a Milaana for some time but I need to be in a spending mood & when I am, they’re not easily available. This was the next best thing.

Is the Splinter made in China now?

Oh yeah, it's been a while! Nice to see you getting finally try it out. The v1 /v2 units are Chinese, but the custom units are still made in the US. I really like my Milaanas, but there definitely is something special about the full Zion heater, so you may have more than the next best thing in a sense. You're working with the most versatile option, so many different ways to use it, experimenting is half the fun. I remember trying fast draw high power and a warm heater, low power and natural temp step are my favorite, though I do still use high power through water often with my Z. Especially when you already have mods, a splinter is an easy decision, and the company has come very far since those early days

I'm not sure which stem I bought got from vapefiend UK it's smoked quite long cost about £20 with those cooling nibs in.

But it's nice just had my first go through that stem and first impressions are really good. I expected more heat had a good few goes got nice light brown avb could have taken a few more hits but to be honest I bought this for flavour I don't rate flavour through a dynavap but do like it's effect. So after first go at 35w it's completely lived up to what I bought it for and the possibilities are endless I got the water adapter too....

I really can't be arsed to set up tc but I feel I have to give it a go... Not my thing messing around with computer's

I tried and failed to download arctic fox I'm crap with that sort of stuff.

But I've got my mod set to TCR 120 370f 40w not had a hit one thing is I will have to watch for the ten seconds cut off if it gives a shit vape think I'll just go back to wattage mode.

I’ve been perfectly happy in wattage mode right at 35 watts like you.

I changed my TCR to 170 it's giving me a lot more stronger hotter hits.

I looked on Reddit don't understand TCR at all some people are at 120 others up 170.

Ok weird thing happend to me now, i set my Splinter Z on 34W on matrix sidecar, after the first draw, i noted the vapor is becoming thick coming into the bong, and then i felt the smoke and understood that i combust, i removed the splinter (which showed normal numbers - 60C on the mod and 160-210 on the coils) and saw the herb on fire lol! so i said "fuck it" and hit it anyway, after 2 weeks without combustion and tobacco i must say it was not good as i remembered it lol.

did it happen to any of you?

TCR is the Temperature Coefficient of Resistance. It's measuring how much the metal in the heating element is changing resistance as it heats; it uses calculations using the TCR value to gauge how much the temperature is changing on the heating element.

The higher the TCR you've got set, the more it thinks your Z is changing in temperature as it heats up.

Yes, I've combusted a couple times. I'd suggest lowering your TCR value or changing the resistance of your Z to be slightly lower. Your herb shouldn't be combusting at 210°C.

Egh! I'm the worst at explaining things anyway. Basically the higher you have your TCR set, the hotter your vape will be. :) TC is kinda inexact and some of it is just down to feel. You should have a hot, but comfortable vape at around 200°C and you shouldn't be combusting below 230°C. A little bit singed is fine, mine almost always is.

I got my Z v1 back in April from the Vgoodiez 4/20 sale. After a small learning period I’ve come to love it, my all time favorite dry herb vaporizer. I’m consistently blown away by the combination of great taste and great clouds it produces. Since then I’ve been trying to find an out of the house portable solution that gives me 70-80% of the Z experience, and frankly I’ve found all the other vapes I’ve tried to be wanting.

I also noticed that the custom Zs on Vgoodiez we’re slowly but surely all selling out, and I recall @VGOODIEZ mentioning that these may be the last customs that Ryan makes. And so when I noticed the site was down to just the purple heart custom, I couldn’t resist. This is the vape to end all vapes for me. I couldn’t go on knowing there was a hardier and rare version of it that I would not be able to get new again if I sat on my hands. I ordered the purple heart and it should arrive on Tuesday. I’m going to have to offload some stuff to account for it but it’s worth it to have a top tier edition of my top tier vape.

As for portables, I’m done searching for something that gives me an approximation of the Z experience. I’m going to use my v1 for out of the house. I’ve got a wooden dosing stem from Mistvape (post about that to follow) so I can use dosing capsules and minimize the amount of glass I’m using. It’s not the most discreet solution but since it’s on demand I only have to take the vape out while I’m actively using it and don’t need to worry about long heat up cycles. I’ll keep a Fury 2 as a backup if I really need a truly tiny portable solution.

The Z has all but killed my VAS. I’d rather spend money on outfitting my Splinter more than getting new vapes. I am on the waiting list for an iHeat to try an alternative and I am definitely still interested in future RBT vapes like the Seed and the Sprout, but for the most part my search is over. I love this amazing vape!

I have to agree. I haven’t been using my Vapcap as much; I’ve been alternating between my custom Z, custom Splinter (I think) and Milaana 2, rotating a bunch of different stems loaded with various materials between them. I don’t know that I ever want to mess with TC. Wattage mode is solidly delivering everything I want and requires little to no futzing. And in the case of the Milaana at least TC isn’t even relevant.

The vapcap is the only other vaporizer I regularly use, and that’s because it’s such a different experience from anything else and it vapes whole nugs like no other vape I own.

I’m looking forward to seeing this. I may be getting SAS. I saw these on IG and was wondering if they’d work with RBT vapes.

I'm gonna have to agree with you on all points my friend. The Splinter Z is a VAS killer for me as I've said before on this thread. I've slimmed down my collection significantly and shipped out another vape this week. I've been switching off between my Z in the room and couch and my SSV when I'm at my desk. This thing hits me as heavy as my damn SSV and thats crazy to me. I like going through @VGOODIEZ site from time to time and seeing what people are buying. Saw that last PH go and was curious to see who picked it up. Now I know, welcome to the Splinter Z PH club. As much as I would love more Custom Zs in the wild, it is nice to have one of the last few made! Congrats on the pickup and enjoy!

I own a ton of vapes and still use predominantly RBT tech and the vapcap. They are both quick easy to clean and maintain with strong effects and good flavor so no.need to use a desktop on the regular

I agree, and it’s nice to have a little variety. The vapcap is nothing like the Splinter so it keeps thing fresh. And I enjoy the process of heating it with a torch.

Thank you friend! My Mistvape dosing stem happens to be purple heart as well. Now I just need a company to release a dual 21700 DNAc box mod to put the PH Z on.

Is there any consensus at all on whether, generally, the two hole or four hole splinter Zs were preferred?

Ooooo... that caused a little tingle for some reason. It DOES sound like something I might have to consider, tho another battery size would mess up my rotation.

I guess I would be happy with just some good DNAc choices at all. They seem to be few and far between these days...

Maybe as legalization grows we will get some mod makers to think about the needs of dry herb vapers in their designs themselves and we wont have to figure out how to manipulate them for our use. The future is coming...

Doing some digging last night, I found Boxer Mods by Ginger Vapor. They’re 3D printed and there are several DNA models, including 2 and 3 battery 21700 mods and a massive LiPo mod as well, all with 250c chips. The problem is they’re prohibitively expensive, $249 for the dual battery, $279 for the triple, almost $400 for the LiPo. And since they’re a boutique brand I’m not seeing them on most of the other sites that sell mods.

Ouch. Good to see some new DNA mods out there, but WAY out of my price range. Frankly I expect almost anything new will be out of my range. Both of the mods I have were already discontinued for some time when I bought them.

There's some DIY kits that are somewhat cheaper, about 160. But you'd have to solder and assemble them. Plus they don't have warranty coverage, AFAICT from the description.

I too picked up one of the custom Purple Heart Z's last month for VGOODIEZ, just love the look and performance of it. Also have a Splinter V2 for out of the house use. I sold my Solo 2 shortly after getting the PH Z, not 1 regret! Love the Z
