iHeat 510 Heater Cartridge

I just returned my iHeat to a DNA mod yesterday and the resistance seemed off.

What is the resistance range for an iHeat?

If God is the answer, then the question is wrong
Had an accident, while playing with my new paranormal i had my precious Iheat fall on the tile ground, iheat first.. iheat suffered from this fall. Shell flight away a hair crack opened near air intake holes, coil also was badly deformed
I was very upset against my stoopid hands but i was able to forgive them as they reshaped coil perfectly and Iheat is back as good as before, grip on 510 deck is less strong but still reliable.

I was annoyed by this crack and searched for a solution: here is what i found (@KeroZen maybe this apply to your one.. bamboo isn’t perfectly round as a wooden Iheat but maybe it still works)

51rHL28xwgL._SX425_.jpg

It’s a stainless steel O-ring, same 25mm wide as iheat

On my walnut iheat it fits like a glove, wood is just enough compressed hair crack disappeared

This vape is definitely solid as a rock

Hi

Just received a brand new iHeat with a couple of roasting tubes. I set it up on a Paranormal DNA250C. Wow. This thing is hot in zero seconds. I press the button and I can feel the heat immediately. I need to keep adjusting the settings but I keep turning them down and it still is super hot.

No need for any pre-heat. Turns everything I nice abv color. Roasting tube has shallow place for loading so it's great for micro-doses. I like the bigger diameter so the weed is never too thick and roasts all the way thru.

Love this plus I'm amazing at how small and tight it is. I like that the outer wood cover up what's happening at the core in terms of covering the heating materials. There is no extension of the floor of the heater which I really like.

Well thought out and executed. Simple and elegant. Love it. Need to keep adjusting the box mod to dial this one in.

Just got a purple heart iheat today. Its a little skinnier and about the same height as my splinter. The wood seems a little thinner than the splinter and gets a hotter to the touch quicker which has me a little worried i dont want anything to happen to the wood I also dont want to taste heated wood. I really like that no glue is used in this that was the main selling point to me. I have it set to 35 watts. I did an initial heat with no stem in there and after about 8 seconds i noticed the coil glowing but not sure if that is supposed to happen.

I also got a wood roasting tube. I initially tried loading it how i load the splinter (i pressed the screen down as far as i could and fill it with material and then used a basket screen from the splinter as a cap over it. Making sure there was enough room for the material to move around if i shake the stem. Didnt really work so well in the Iheat.

I pushed the initial screen up and removed the basket screen cap and am getting much better results I guess gotta keep playing.

I also loaded the Iheat profiles on my hcigar but havent really tried temp mode yet

I adjusted the settings today and that made a big difference. I was finding the iHeat super hot super fast. I turned off preheat and lowered boost. I have adjusted the watts up 25 and it's doing a nice job of a few hits that are cooler before I turn it up. I continue to be amazed at how efficient and hot this can get in an instance!!!

One thing that I'd like is a stir collar made of Maple. I like to stir the bowl and the current setup is pretty shallow. I'll have to find if he makes a collar.

It's a great device and the more I use it the more I'm blown away. I have to be careful because this really does a great extraction job. The wood on wood joint is so sweet.

Nice Job Toasty-Top!!

The wood being thinner must be based on individual design. Mine is kind of tulip shaped and much thicker than my splinters.

I have a MVT2 and Imp from Mist and it comes with a stir collar. The diameter isn’t big enough. I checked. Great idea though.

And as pointed out the stem is tulip shaped. It needs a bigger diameter and different camber.

Yes he also makes them for 18mm stem vapes like this though is what I am saying, not just his own 14mm vapes!

But I'm not sure what you mean by tulip shaped stems? :hmm: not a 18mm joint?

Also @little maggie I thought your iHeat was a special pineapple one? The regular standard shape like mine is thinner

Sorry for the lack of clarity. I thought that since they are hand made there might be some difference in thickness. I didn't know that mine (named tulip) is thicker because of being a different shape.

Ive been playing around with it a little more. Switching between temp control and watt mode. Getting some tasty initial vapor however my only complaint is that the wood is still getting too hot too quick. If I try and take more than 2 hits in a row without waiting a few minutes in between i feel like the wood is getting too hot and I get this woody aftertaste. I just ordered a glass stem for it hoping that might help.

Besides that its been awesome. No hot spots, great light and even colored abv.

Dave at @mistvaporizer made me a very nice 18mm collar and fill tool.

Hi

I ordered a 19 mm stir collar from Mist. Thanks for the info.

As usual the community is super helpful and responsive.

I spent the weekend getting to know the iHeat better. We had done long “talks”. Needless to say I love it. I did have the outer wooden cylinder pull off on Saturday AM. What a really cool coil. I was super careful sliding g it be k on but I’m not sure if that’s supposed to happen or not. It still seems to work fine so no complaints from that perspective.

Totally a great heater with tons of power. I like it with preheat turned off. Otherwise it’s too hot for me.

You should never press the button for more than 2 seconds without drawing air through it unless you want risk combustion. The body will definitely heat up if you push the button until the coil glows. Avoid doing that. Do not preheat the iHeat like you would with other 510 cartridges. It only needs 2 seconds of pre-heat. My typical draw time is only about 6 seconds, so the button is only pressed for a total of 8 seconds. You can quickly draw heat out of the cartridge by drawing air through it without a tube inserted. Just put it up to your lips to draw the heat out. The cartridge on my units never gets hot to the touch.

Hey @Shit Snacks and @sickmanfraud, guess who else makes stir collars for my roasting tubes. I do for $10.
How did I wrong you guys that you would post in my thread to direct people away from me?
I can make any tube configuration possible. I'm having enough trouble making a living at this without having you guys send work elsewhere.

@madhockeydad - Glad you are enjoying the iHeat.

I also have a built in solution for the stir collar. http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/lil-bud-elite.34524/page-25#post-1381020
I bore a 14mm hole 5mm deep into the 12mm bowl. It sets the screen back 5mm from the end and allows for room to stir.
Here is how my $5 stir tool looks. There is a sewing needle set into a bamboo skewer which stores in a bamboo dowel when not in use or for travel.

Apologies! I had no idea you offered these now as well! You offer so much!

Figured @madhockeydad would have asked you first directly, could've gotten a full kit. Oh well now everyone knows!

Plus I’m getting a stir collar from Alan. I’m so psyched Im trying to decide which wood for my next iHeat.

I can vouch that this needs no pre-heat. When the mod is firing it’s HOT!! Really is amazing. I think I draw a little longer but I don’t have any exterior heat problems.

I did find that when my mod had pre-heat on that it was too hot at first. The coil is strong and there is a big surface area for efficient heat transfer to the air.

I apologize. I was TOTALY unaware that you made collars. I never heard mention here.

I suggest that you revise your website so people have ideas of what is available. Shoot, I was unaware that I could have gotten a custom wood stem without waiting on the list for 18 months.

Can you make a 19/19 stem that holds dosing caps?
