I liked mine too, though it could be tedious, it was very very effective. Until the battery stopped charging and I was left with a paperweight lol

I have so many great memories of this vape. Such a fine and unique one, a lot of love for it from me.

I sold it a while back so it could be reenactment into a Nomad. Don't regret that choice at all, but I agree with the love for this vape, and with its ability to get you really really high off not much weed.

Sad they went away, I remember talking to Joe on the phone and for a while he was hugely passionate and really proud of all the R&D he put into this vape, to make it what it was. There was no money left for marketing and the device was to expensive to get traction. They really were a good group of vape designers in the world of copy cats.

Cheers to my future nomad. Shall it recapture the ESV spark. Good day.

I still have my ESV1 and it works, most of the time. One operating glitch it has is the long battery charging time and poor battery charge sustain time.

Can you tell us a little bit more about having it transitioned from its OG design? Or did you simply mean to say, metaphorically, that you sold it in order to raise funds to purchase a Nomad?

yeah exactly to the metaphor point. Sold it and a ghost MV1 I won to gather funds for the very pricey nomad. its getting built now.

I still need to update the button of my nomad so I can try using it again...

Hmm I tried mine a few times on the charger when it happened, but that was already over a year ago now when it had been sitting over a year before...

When I went to visit Joe (years ago), he changed my batteries in the esv and mentioned that you can recondition some batteries by recharging several times. This vape is great (taste) but I’m not an on demand convection guy like a lot of ppl on the forums.

If you guys know of a good Vape shop medic in your town , he or she might be to help out with a battery pack rebuild and install.. You will probably need to purchase the batteries (Ali-express) then let them take care of the rest.. That's what I did.. (There are 6 200mah batt's in your esv that make up a total of 1200mah's. 5 in parallel for the coils and one on the other side I'm assuming for board control..)

IIRC all six are in parallel. There's only one charge circuit. They basically crammed as much total battery in the available space. I exchanged some messages with the 'maker' in the day (this product was a small part of his activities, he was big into metal finishes as I recall) and chided him on 'form follows function' but the packaging came first?

As I recall the cells used came from the RC Helicopter guys. Maximum 'energy density' (power per unit volume) since (real) convection vapes are power hogs (which is why many use Butane for heat).

OF, you are right about RC heli's using those types of battery cells (that's how i found out about them initially).

Have you ever attempted to repair your unit,
@OF ? You have quite the techie background, no?

If you would please allow me to pick your brain for a few minutes?

So now that you're vape mechanic has rehabilitated your Elevape, how does it perform in terms of 1.) time required to charge, and 2.) time that it will hold a charge?

And if you don't mind sharing, in terms of cost for new batteries and the labor involved for the repair/install, what was your approximate out-of-pocket payment?

TIA!

I had the batteries changed out back in May(19). Charging time: 1 to 1.5 hrs (I've never really put a clock on it). I can get 4-5 full sessions out of it now where I was only getting 3-4 when new. That was the 2nd battery replacement that my unit has received (Joe performed the 1st one back in March (16). I paid around 26.00 (i think) plus shipping for the batt's off of Bangood and the service charge for the repair was handled with a barter agreement :brow:;). The guy I dealt with told me that he typically charges around 20.00 an hour for repairs and it took him a little over 1.5 hrs (at least that's he said) to build the pack and re-install it back onto the control board. Been work'in like new money ever since..

hey hey leave it for like 3 days on the charger it worked for me. Play with different power bricks and cords as well. You will probably revive it

Well, here's what happened. I charged the little black box ( what's that thing made of anyway, it's as hard as freaking rock!) for 7 hours and apparently sometime between hour 4 and hour 7 the LED turned green. The next morning I charged another 5 hours and since then I've had half a dozen bowls over the last 24 hours. It did not taste so great at first so I cleaned the bowl and the top screen/cap with ISO swabs -- much better! I then turned the heat switch up from 1 to 2 along with using only a half full of finely ground flower.
The taste was much better, not quite up to the standard of say a Fury 2, but certainly a top-shelf taste, nevertheless. This vape was ahead of its time!

Long live the Elevape! :rockon::rockon::rockon:

Anodized Aluminum I believe. Meaning that hard part is a very thin, but thicker than normally happen (goes dozens of atoms in, instead of a few). To do this the parts are connected to electrically and put into a bath where they are positive (anode) relative to the cathode (negative) electrode. IIRC normally Aluminum oxides form (Al2O3) of exposed aluminum (the abrasive in Aluminum Oxide 'sand' paper), you can sharpen a steel knife on Aluminum because of this if you're careful.

It's done to different degrees, I suspect we have "HA II or III"? "Hard Anodized" quite deep, relatively. The process usually begins with an aggressive etch to atomically clean the surface, which is why it's mat and not polished with tool marks.

Sometimes the connections mechanical, often laving a mark, sometimes (like here I think) it's done in a drum full of parts that's rotated in the process.

This coating (which is clear) is then dyed black, but also could be other colors. Makes it hard to scratches, pretty to look at, and resistant to corrosion. And wear. But it's a surface treatment, underneath it's still soft based on alloy.

Continuation of the discontinued Elevape Smart Vaporizer and short-lived ESV2.0, a truly innovative instant on demand pure convection portable.

Legacy Threads:

I remember there was a time when big things are expected from this company, SmartPuffUSA, talk of some sort of dock that could fill bags instantly?! A planned partnership with indica vaporizers (who totally vanished) that never materialized.

Unfortunately I missed the opportunity to have the battery in mine replaced (breath activated without a power switch) before the company folded, another lifetime warranty cautionary tale, so it has been a legit paper weight for a few years now...

I really had some amazing experience with my ESV until then though, a unit from the original production run of 50, I did send it in for a tune-up at one point and always had great customer service from Joe. Like most on demand pure convection, this vape was not for everyone, but those who took to it know how special it really was!
