As much as I'd like to compete with guys like that I don't order 1000's of these mods and cannot offer these mods as that price without losing money. Honestly I really had to think hard about carrying mods in the first place because of sites like this who basically sell retail at wholesale price. But I decided it was the right thing to do for our customer base. A lot of our customers specifically avoid the 510 variants because they are not tech savvy. They also have no idea where to buy and would be intimidated by the steps involved in updating the firmware.
So I decided to add this as a service to those people and an opportunity for one stop shop which could also be important to some. I offer them at msrp and allow all discount codes to apply so I don't feel like I am out of the realm of fairness in pricing. You can always go to Ebay or some of the other sites that ship directly from China to save money but they are not going to ship as quickly as us and none of them will offer this service for those who can't/won't figure this out.
I just wanted to clarify our position on mods and firmware updating services so thanks for your time.
I understand the point of it and it would definitely be a good option for some (elderly or less savvy) it just might not be the right option for many others. Also, element vape isn't ebay, their one of the largest and most well established businesses in the vape industry. Everything on their website is us stocked and will ship out the morning after you pay for it. I'm more concerned that you don't offer ANY information on battery safety, which everybody NEEDS to know. For example, you should buy an external chargers for your 18650's.
Charging them in a device, especially a wismec at that, is inherently unsafe and can lead to a fire. Even if it doesn't, no mods outside of DNA devices are considered safe to use for charging long term.
I don't know that the issue is "refusing to learn about tech". I think it's a very different experience to develop skill in tech when it's been a part of your life.
Doing a firmware update requires no skill, just a small amount of knowledge. If you can learn how to operate and ecig, you can do a firmware update. Also, no one should be using an ecig without going out to learn about them. I've been using ecigs for years and they can be dangerous in the hands of someone without knowledge. A couple ecig batteries in the pocket can ruin your leg forever, but the public at large is oblivious to this which lead exploding vape stories all over the news. The original geekvape aegis had a problem with the firmware that made it unsafe for example. It was up to you as a consumer to fix it and the people who refused to learn ended up with flaming devices. At the end of the day it will take 30 minutes max to learn everything about how your vape works and how to handle the firmware. Why not just take the time and learn?
