Wondering if there are any smaller easy load baskets? Something half the size? I usually only fill the original one 1/4 of the way. So a half sized one would perfect
I don't think there are smaller sized ELBs. Your cannabis would not extract better with a smaller basket. If you look at a spent load in an ELB, all the cannabis is sucked up against the cap. Good air flow is necessary for extraction. 1/4 full is a good load in my estimation. You may have to load more frequently, but you get the flavonoids in the low temp range more frequently, too.
Yes, I'm with Macbill....why do you want one. Just put what you want in an ELB and it works perfectly fine down to 1/4 full or even less.

Indeed, all of the flower is sucked up to the top and vaped there.

@Elusive01 - I hope you continue to love your EVO. For me, EVO and FP SH are my go to desktops and I'm mostly a flower guy.

@Elusive01, I too don't see a need for a smaller ELB size either since changing that won't change the EVO performance in any significant way... other than to lower maximum load an EVO can take. :2c:

It's great to hear others EVO experiences  and the more posts the better . It's also a reminder that different experiences often happen because of so many variables in how people use vapes :sherlock:. I'll build on the feedback from @macbill and @Baron23 with a few observations from my use :leaf:.

I don't find that all the cannabis remains sucked up against the cap in my ELB after a spent load. I do get a small film of fine product on the cap, but that's it. I also tend to observe a similar small AVB film all over the inside ELB after I'm finishing vaping and dump the product. I don't know why that's different but there are lots of variables in vaping.

I haven't found smaller ELB loads to extract any better than a larger amount in the EVO (even when using the same heater temp settings and boveda pack mason jar stored cannabis, plus accounting for a number of other variables). If I double / triple / quadruple / quintuple the ELB load I don't have to double / triple / quadruple / quintuple the amount of draws or anything anywhere near that. In my experience, the EVO heater keeps up with all sizes of ELB loads and all types of draws :). Typically I find a full ELB is extracted to my preference in about 9 draws (over two temps), whereas a small ELB such as 1/5 full results in about 7 draws to get similar extraction (over the same two temps). FWIW, I stir ELBs that are 1/2 full or more, which produces very evenly extracted AVB, whereas I shake ELBs with lighter loads. There are likely a number of reasons contributing to similar excellent extraction being the case, regardless of the size of ELB load (and interestingly having a similar amount of draws). For example, an ELB with more cannabis in it can act like more of a heat sink/trap for the hot air being drawn through it during a draw... allowing for a more efficient extraction from that draw. On the other hand, light ELB loads have a lot more room for the cannabis to float and fly around in the ELB while under the vacuum of a draw, so there won't be any added heat sink/trap dynamics occurring. And typically, I find that full ELB loads of fresh flower (coarse grind with good moisture content) end up being ~50% of the original volume by the time a few of the higher temp draws are completed (i.e., ~50% of the volume of a fresh moist flower load is lost through vaping, even at moderate heater temperatures that remain below 400 F in the EVO).

Likewise I find there's no difference in low temp range flavonoids extraction efficiency with full vs low ELB loads, other than larger loads will obviously have more flavonoids liberated (because there's more cannabis).

I don't use high heater temps with my EVO either so large ELB loads can be efficiently extracted with a lower number of draws than I've reported. Along these lines, this thread has many posts from owners giving positive feedback from setting the EVO up for one hit/draw full-extraction use . With a good setup and method, I find the EVO extremely efficient at many different types of loads, temps, draws, uses, etc. It's a very flexible and powerful vape .

There are lots of variables that go into vaping which affect the vaping experience and performance, such as heater temp selection(s), draw speeds, draw lengths, cannabis moisture content, cannabis grind size, vape heat-soak, inter-individual variability, etc. These variables often aren't given enough credit for their impacts on the vaping experience and performance. I've been looking at many of these variables closely in my vaping and explicitly accounting for and testing them... on a journey to optimize my EVO experience. I've also been sharing these experiences with the community and hope the feedback helps others :leaf:.

Definitely look at what owners here report and then try things for yourself. Keep an eye on those other variables, which often aren't accounted for or mentioned, and see what works for you. The more variables that can be accounted for in vaping, the more consistent the experience will be. I'll be sharing more info on my use as I go here over time. Everyone should try things for themselves and see how it goes for YOU . And by all means share it here; it's much appreciated

thanks for all the replies lol! I think all of you make valid points. Idk tho when my basket is filled halfway it milks noticeably faster than when its filled 1/4. I thought having a smaller basket would adjust for that but idk maybe you guys are right.

With more cannabis in the ELB it should milk more. If you want to milk the ELB less/slower, try lowering the temp setting a bit until you get the performance you're looking for and see what you think @Elusive01. Or try a slower / less-long draw. Enjoy!

worth mentioning that the EVOs vape quality is noticeably smoother than my herbalizer. Im sure it has something to do with the vape path, but my herbie has hotter air that runs through it even when both vapes are used on whip mode, the evo delivers smoother vape quality and its denser. I havent noticed anyone mention that yet which I think is a HUGE difference. (herbie isnt "harsh" by any means btw)

With that being said my herbalizer is still very similar in terms of density just slightly less dense. But the evo just milks quicker or faster and is simply the denser / smoother vape. Its my new DD and il prob only use my herbie when I have friends over. I do miss that heat up time tho ... but for now any way VXH is my favorite vape

That's why I only use the ELB once before wash, I have 15 ELBs and I rotate them 5 at a time and wash them with PBW. I only use fresh ELB for my EVO.

@Elusive01, great feedback and comparison . You're definitely correct that the EVO has such smooth vapor, it's top rated . I remember mentioning how smooth the vapor was when I first started posting here in December, and picked it (the EVo) up and in the new year... raving on the smoothness . The EVO has been my only vape since for months now :tup:. "Smooth" should be an EVO signature slogan . Let's not have it be easily forgotten .

@myla, great point . I keep my ELBs very clean and it helps when it's easy and rewarding. My routine is easier and I'm impressed enough to only be using one ELB. My personal sweet spot at the moment is using the @O-G-Reg brushes he recommended on Ebay combined with a hot water rinse after every ELB use. It's quick and easy. That I do for 7 or so bowls of various sizes with great success. Then coinciding with a weekly vape break I clean the ELB one more time that same way, followed with a hot ISO bath and soak overnight or so. After a quick water rinse the ELB is pretty spotless which I simply let air dry in minutes :tup:. I will add I see a bit of brown staining on the top cap SS mesh which indicates it's not "perfectly" clean. Though in my experience it hasn't impacted the taste and flavors at all :).

OTOH I have an ultrasonic cleaner ready to go with PBW that I haven't used yet . I need to try it and I've been lazy getting to it ... I expect the ultrasonic cleaner to be the Cadillac version of cleaning . Still, thankfully I've been able to keep my new glass very clean from new by cleaning it often with ISO so far :luv:. I'll report back when I get less lazy :).

Another Yay Friday here with the EVO :). :science::science:. It's been excellent and so potent with EVO, please bear with me  as we go:leaf:.

... Boom Shiva !
I do low temp hits , dial set at 11. Fill the ELB's just about 1/4th and its a single hitter session like a bong.

I will admit my abv is not as brown as it should be but this is the way i prefer for preserving taste and least harshness on the throat.

I just make edibles with my abv after.

@Elusive01 - I hope you continue to love your EVO. For me, EVO and FP SH are my go to desktops and I'm mostly a flower guy.

I also have the vxc and fp showerhead, for me these two are my go to vaporizers and comparative analogy is that the vxc is like a heavy joint/blunt with exceptional taste, the showerhead is like a bong/gasmask whenever i need that blown out of my brain effect but with good taste.

I reach for the evo more often than the showerhead multiple times a day.
That said when im running out of herb stash, i switch to the flowerpot exclusively till i restock, so efficiency also is proportional to joints vs bongs with these two vapes.

There is where PBW is better than 99% ISO! ISO wouldn't clean this and it will accumulate over time however PBW will not have this problem. This is my experience anyway.

My first hit is always at 11 unless the quality is not up to par then I'll start at 12.

Don't you hate it when you forget to put the cap on the ELB and you suck up cannabis into your hydratube? I hate it when that happens....

Or I often take a big hit of nothing, having left the ELB out of the EVO.

I'm loving all the EVO feedback on temps and methods. It sounds like lots of fun and options in EVO land out there .

I had a great night last night with the EVO again :). I tried Viper flower; it's been about 9 months since the last time I had that strain (and pre EVO). It blew me away. I'd rate Viper a top three strain, right up there, slotting between Strawberry Cough and Acapulco Gold for effects and potency. It was a very potent batch :luv:. I had to shorten my first draws the vapor was so dense. Very lemony in flavor which was impressive and appreciated. I added one more draw than I normally do at the lower temp due to the earlier short draws and was still met with the most dense vapor of any draw :science:. Clouds @ 320 F with the EVO . Very stimulating, very cerebral, very happy and euphoric. I highly recommend strong sativa fans get their hands on some Viper strain flower .

Truth be told @ataxian, it was Viper that led me to Acapulco Gold  (both strong sativas with MX sativa roots). And Strawberry Cough, Trainwreck and Super Lemon Haze and on and on.... Viper was the first known favorite strain of mine when I was able to sample different cannabis some years back and for a number of years now. It's been hard to get lately.

I did ~70% full in the ELB for the Viper flower, and after that I went with a good-sized ELB of Acapulco Gold flower . It was a great night :).

Today I pulled out EVO and tried some concentrates again, just like a number of recent Saturday's ;). This time I opened a new package of Armageddon shatter . It looked good, not dark and the session impressed :ninja:. I did @ 12 o'clock on the dial and used my hydratube :leaf:. There were lots of flavors, it was dense vapor and smooth. Good strong effects too :). Very nice.

Have a nice weekend everyone and enjoy the EVO. (Sorry to hear that @Smoke1ForMe, good luck.)

Or when the ELB cap gets stuck in the hydra tube. Pretty infrequent, but happens. Have to squish the cap to fit more snugly after fishing it out of the ELB.

Multiple times and definitely hated it, it's really a mess inside the hydratube.

So sad my Evo died last night. It has been going strong since I got it from the indiegogo campaign. The green LED went out a while ago but still worked perfect until last night when it stopped heating. Sent an email to them to see if it can be repaired.
I have mine since Indiegogo too and I am afraid it's already out of warranty and this seems like an electrical problem and VXL wouldn't repair it however they will offer you a discount with a new unit and 3 years new warranty which seems to me is a fair deal. Try to re-plug your cable and make sure there is good contact with the receptacle multiple times, I once revive my EVO from dead like this because of bad contact of the receptacle. Good luck !

I've never had the ELB cap come off, but I'm still a relatively new owner :). What hydratubes can get caps stuck in them? That can't happen in my Precision Honeycomb and Helio mouthpieces .

I did a second session of Armageddon shatter here and it was great :) (small dabs) . I then did a lighter ELB of fresh Acapulco Gold flower. It's been a great and smooth experience with the EVO .

I never mentioned yet I picked up a few things during 420 a few weeks back, a few more borosilicate VapeXnails, two Orbits (nail/ELB holders) and some dosing capsules for the Crafty.

I'm very happy and want to share the VapeXhale ecosystem I built up so far to support a great vape experience :). The Orbits make it even easier to hold the ELBs and nails for use and storage (hot or cold). Bringing one Orbit out is more than enough for me in my own use and the second Orbit will rock for group use . I chose it as a flexible and small form-factor substitute for a deck setup. I use the VapeXhale silicone mat to help me cotton swab clean the glass nail after a dab and high heat burn off. The ELB loading tool makes it ridiculously easy and quick to reload the ELB with fresh grind flower. The pipe brushes mentioned earlier are excellent. The mouthpiece options are excellent. Etc. Lots of great EVO product options out there . I really appreciate the community continuing to share their feedback and advice here; it's been very helpful in a >750 page thread . Enjoy the EVO :peace::leaf:.

My ELB caps seem to get loose over time, then when i'm using my glass whip adapter I like to pull it off from the side that connects to the evo to get all the vape in the tube, and I accidentally pull the cap off and suck crud up into the tube. It's annoying but I guess I should get new ELB's more often

I had quite a few ELB caps come off...after heavy usage and cleaning, I need to "pinch" it in the sides so it would be tight...but something I manage to ruin an ELB...

Thankfully, I bought a lifetime amount of ELBS (50ish!)

I use quite few tools to clean the ELBs, some are sharp and I think it can cause issues... I try to clean it differenty this days and keep most of the ELBS in tact...

When the caps get loose I just take a needle nose pliers, put the tip in the top of the cap and gently open the pliers to get a slight stretch. I do it very gently, don't allow the tip to touch the bottom of the cap, concentrating on the top of the ELB cap. The trick is "gently" doing it since it doesn't take much pressure to get them to stretch a little.

Just putting the ELB cap, flat, on a table and gently pressing down evenly, the cap will squish-outward a little bit and fit tightly in the ELB. Pretty sure read this many pages ago, so credit there, but it works :)

The ELB's (not really the caps though) do wear out over time, mostly cracks vertically or the screen will tear away (from small welds) at various spots. But if you rotate a few for cleaning it takes months or longer. 50 probably is a close to a lifetime supply for many! :)

I haven't been using my Clouds or Evos as much lately (solely because of heat up time; we have a new baby and I'm vaporizering down stairs in the basement/home brewery/bar, away from the little one, and it seems I have to quickly take a toke here or there with quicker vaporizers. Full sessions are a rare evening thing now, unless pain from prior (joint) surgeries flare up bad and make it so I can't move or do anything), but I always will. It's just that good. At least one unit is out for use and not put away pretty much always. Because it's the most fun vaporizer, I have another unit in a pelican case for using at buddies' houses that partake.

My HT must be broken. When I fill it up all the water falls down (and some into my evo). I can’t see where it’s cracked. Any fix? Or is she dead?
