Hello boys and girls
Quick question, received my Vrod today. I already had a controller so I just ordered the 20mm compatible coil. Plug in the coil and it doesn’t respond. The controller knows there’s something connected to it, since it doesn’t read EEEE, but it does not heat up at all just reads ambient temps. The other 2 coils I have heat up with no issue, and the pins are exactly the same
I emailed and called Newvape but no answer yet and just want to enjoy it ASAP
Thanks

Just emailed you back from support@newvape.com. Can you try the coil in question with another box?

Replied
I tried from 3 boxes actually. 2 of them are G9 “tick” enail. The third is from a dhgate enail that is enclosed in a pelican like case. All 3 can heat up my other 2 coils but not the newvape one

Not long now until I get my 420 order! Been held in customs for 5 days so far so probably get it through next week and then I can test all the caps on the WE and start spinning some terp pearls
Are you in Canada? If so reach out to me I found out a service that crosses your merchandise into Canada by truck and then ships it within Canada for cheap. I saved over 100 Canadian dollars sending my 4/20 order to them instead of having it shipped to me direct in Canada

Cheers man but unfortunately I’m UK and parcelforce take an age to work out customs. It literally takes less time from the moment I order, to traveling from Newvape to the uk than it does for them to work out how much customs they’re gonna charge me for it.

Okay got my VROD a couple weeks ago from the 420 sale. I’ve had some time to enjoy it and I LOVE IT!!! Probably end-game vape for me. I really don’t see needing any additional devices. It makes it easier to get thru the workday knowing that 2 rips after I get home I’ll be blotto! I wonder why it behaves differently with different glass. It works GREAT with the Newvape glass that came with it. But I also got a 14mm sleeve to use with my existing glass piece and at first I didn’t like the result but when I increase the temp it performs just as good as the new vape glass. The existing glass was smaller than the new vape one, like a 12oz soda bottle with a downstem perc. And I think the joint isn’t perfectly round so the seal is not perfect. So it gurgles loud and has slightly more resistance while the 18mm new vape glass gurgles quiet and has almost no resistance. But it requires more heat to get going and I can’t figure out why. Oddly enough, I prefer to use my existing glass despite its imperfections cause it’s easier to stow in my storage tube under my table. I’ll use the NV glass when I have company, it’s so beautiful. LOL!

Weedeater Review/Praise (tl;dr: Flowerpot has lived up to end game status, personal favorite)

I switched to vaping full time over combustion in 2019 as one of my New Year’s resolutions. In pursuit of learning more and researching what were quality vaporizers, I joined a couple of forums, read reddit (vaporents), watched YouTube videos, etc.

I went through several portables to begin with. All of which I liked (some more than others), but I was always searching for “more”. More being faster extraction, efficiency, resemblance to smoking of my days of yesteryear, etc. I’ve since learned this search for “more” or the “best” is known as VAS. I then went through a few desktop units, which I found to be an upgrade over my previous experiences with portables. By a wide margin.

As I said earlier I had done a lot of research within the vape community to discover what the consensus best was. Typically for portables it was the Mighty (not my personal best for portables). For desktops, it was the flowerpot. Ironically, these two have been my final vape purchases (since then I have parted with the Mighty and use vapcap for portable, but that’s a different discussion). I had to experience first hand VAS and what other vapes had to offer before I jumped right in to the “end game” vape.

For me personally, the flowerpot weedeater checks all the boxes. I got the weedeater since I’m using flower 99% of the time, but I have no doubts the other heads are awesome as well. Simple to use. No electronics (vapor path). Great flavor. Even extraction. Fast extraction. Can be used with my personal glass collection. Reminiscent of my combusting days? Yes! Can fully milk a tubes can for a quick terpy snap or can continue that fat milky rip until the 0.20 bowl is depleted in one go. 0.20 is not needed btw... the weedeater does great with microdosing too... I just tend to be a heavy user.

Since I got my Weedeater, my VAS has ended and now I’ve moved onto GAS and other potential toys (press).

Me too! Generally. But I got the VROD cause I like to dab cbd live resin with my thc flower every once in a while. THC concentrates get me there way too fast! Can’t enjoy the journey that way. LOL!

Or just get them to declare it at a lower value... You can also buy third party cargo insurance if it's an expensive item. I paid nothing for my complete Shower head kit in taxes coming into Canada. Forwarding companies work great but still cost extra for shipping

@Jblizz Edwyn here, Thank you very much for your wonderful review, and your business. I to have a similar story of combustion for 30 plus years and tried to make the switch to vaping with similar results that you experienced. I first started with the pax1 and read about people improving their experience with a homemade paper clip pusher. Boom my 2 biggest passions crossed paths. Machining and weed. We've since made over 25k pax pushers and shipped them all over the world. All of our pax accessories have been knocked off and available on Alibaba for much less. When we see our designs being knocked off it tells us that we are doing something right. It's that desire to improve my pax1 vaping experience that has fueled my machine shop business (formally orthopedic) and allowed it to transition from a job shop to being a full fledged manufacturer with our own products (every machine shop owners dream). It wasn't until I witnessed my wife (and best critic) finally making the switch from combustion to vaping when I realized the flowerpot might have traction. I've tried my best to mimic the bong rip with a lighter experience but without the combustion. Rest assured your money is being reinvested in tomorrow's NewVape products. Sorry for the trip down memory lane.

Now back to business.

Here's an update on our insulated carbcap handle.
Please let me know what you thoughts are?
I'll be exposing it to 4 hrs of heat by setting on top of the vrod set to 700 this afternoon.

Yeah it's crazy and it's getting me toasted trying all the combinations...I haven't settled on any glass yet for flower, and may not. I'm keeping a heavy rotation and will probably buy an additional bowl or two so I'm not constantly unscrewing all the attachments!

For over a year on the original WA Flowerpot, I only had one attachment and bought 14mm MALE glass pieces for flower and dabs. Now I still use those 14mm males, but also a 14mm female and two different 18mm females...and they all behave differently.

Something to do with science, or physics or the the cosmos...joint size, rig size, heat compression, airflow/pull of the water rig and your draw speed...

Hi Edwyn - I do indeed like the insulated cap handle design...and home DIY'ers and third parties can make an array of insulated sleeves out of different material....maybe carbon fiber or...is it acrylic that you see in old cig holders and now being made into VC bodies??

In any case, and this is just opinion, I think that opportunities for DIY/3rd party makes the ecosystem even more robust.

I do, however, think a LOT of folks will prefer the wood OG sleeve you showed as a safe material near heat while inhaling so there is that.

I like the idea of wrench flats on the handle....and can see how this would work to help people with hand strength issues get a stuck handle off, for example.....and it looks like that will work well when putting the handle in vertically. But it looks (and I'm just going by the vid) that there may not be room for wrench/pliers (heaven forbid! haha) if you mount the handle in the horizontal orientation.

Maybe I'm not seeing it clearly? Do you have enough clearance in there?

Cheers and thanks also for sharing some of your's and NV's background and story. Very interesting and I'm generally in awe of small business owners as I took the safe route and worked for a salary my whole life.

What's your thoughts on a cross hole like the one the shovelhead handle?

Not op, but i like the cross hole. The only thing is is that there isn't a tool to utilize it. I used paper clips but they just bend and wrap around when tightening so after its tight ive had to unwrap the paper clip.

Personally, I’m fine w the cross hole on my adjustabowl.

Yes, you need some sort of pin to tighten it, but I think a trip thru almost any kitchen junk drawer will yield something useable. I use a metal kabob skewer.

The adjustabowl is the one part of the product that doesn't work well for me. I only ever use the 14mm attachment. I'd vote for a solid metal, glass, or ceramic 14-mm bowl instead of this 3-part adjustable bowl. Once adjusted, it doesn't seem to fit any better or worse than other 14-mm male bowls.

I don't mind vaping on a titanium screen, so I wonder about a glass one-piece bowl with a handle and a titanium screen? I didn't want to buy the glass bowl if only because of the comments about the screen differences.

I use a tiney L shaped torx key with the hovelhead handle. Works great. Thinking of bending the other end and leaving it there

Maybe heavier concentrate users have more trouble getting dabbers out of carb caps, but it’s never been an issue for me. I could live with the hole if that’s necessary, and it might work better than wrench flats here, but if it’s not expensive to do I’d be more interested in a little wood carving.

I know making it very thin at the bottom was a problem, but a bit of a curve, probably asymmetrical going in slowly and coming back out to keep enough mass at the end might look better. A little more like the first short test piece but stretched and widened back out toward the end might look and feel a bit better, but the way it is should work well too. That would just be a cosmetic finishing touch for me.

If you’d rather keep it simple then it’s great as it is! Either way, I’m sure I’ll be picking one up. :)

Ok here's another back burner project I'd like to finish before we go back to the caddies, boxes, and stands.

Please let me know if your have any finial suggestions to the Flowerpot Bowl Brush. H

I’m a little confused about it being stainless steel...my idea for it was just fairly stiff but relatively soft bristles, and I think they should do a good job too. Since you mentioned before there’s a potential for other metals to leave lead deposits in Titanium if they scratch it, constantly scratching it with a stainless steel brush doesn’t seem like the best idea to me.

Any chance of swapping it for a Ti or non-metal brush, or do you think this is not a concern at all?

Other than that the brush part seems good. For the AVB holder I’d still really like to see a solution that would keep the smell down though (the main reason for a lid in my opinion), and it would be preferable if the AVB was channeled down into the can without so much pushing.

I’m not sure if there’s a great way to do that on a lid with that angle, but any kind of cone or hemisphere (facing up or down if it was hollow) under the brush could be used to channel it into holes better at least.

If you’re having to bang the bowl on the lid in addition to using the brush, you might want to replace the thumb screw holding the brush in with a mini-debowler just a little longer than you need to hit the screen in a PanHead or ShovelHead bowl. You just might have to make the sleeve it screws into a little longer so you have room to use it*. That should keep the AVB falling close to the brush though, and give you both tools without an extra mounting hole and without having to bang up the top of the can.

If you need more ideas for keeping the smell in we can talk about that too. I think it’s important and without that I’m not sure it’s a lot different from having it wide open.

*If it was sitting on a dome or a cone pointed up you might have room without modification.

The original bowls were just the bowl or just the bowl and a handle, but since they’re metal and they expand with heat, they tended to stick in a lot of people’s glass. You should still be able to find some of the old bowls around if you prefer that, but remember there’s a good chance they’ll stick.

I use a tiny screwdriver and it works well without bending.

How do you place a lid on a spike and possibly a brush machined out of metal, easy to remove, not too costly.. just lots of variables here that have $$$ associated.

If you need more ideas for keeping the smell in we can talk about that too
The best you'll do is recycling the old ashtray idea with the doors.
59df7d9b1b304a5d6b070c5e-7-small.jpg

I think it'd be better to build a nice tray that holds a brush and debowling spike and build the tray to slide in and out of various tool caddies. Perhaps even have debowler tray options. With Just In Time Production you really could get quite creative depending upon how much retooling is required.

An easy to remove and wipe out tray is your best weapon to smell. The easier and less disruptive it is to clean the more likely it will be cleaned. And if you're in love with NewVape, well it's just like Legos and it makes sense to stay with NewVape as you build your NewVape village LOL :brow:

@YaMon I’m sure I’ll be happy with the bottom of any box they release, but to me the *lid* specifically is mostly good for keeping smell down and letting you wait longer before emptying it. It is nice that it can keep the brush or spike out of the AVB though.

I think we’re picturing different things because I didn’t want a lid over the brush/spike...whatever cover there was for the holes would have to be under that part in/on the lid I think.

I hadn’t thought about the kind of door in your picture since I haven’t seen one in so long and didn’t use them when they were around since I never smoked, but something like that would probably be a good option. I’d have to think about the best way to mount the brush in the center though. If you could push down on the brush to open the doors that might be nice.

@NewVape710 have you ever thought of integrating the screen into the bowl so that is doesn't always fall out? Something like the screen on a 3 piece grinder?

Have you tried the double weave titanium screens in the adjustable bowls? I’ve never had one fall out. :)

The ones NewVape uses are slightly larger than most (I believe 0.78 inches instead of 0.75 inches), so if you get one somewhere else it might not fit into the little groove and stay in but if you buy them from NewVape they should be a little hard to get in and out and they can be left in.
