Discontinued The Grasshopper

Sent my two malfunctioning GHs back to Hopper on the 25th Apr. They arrived there on the 1st of May.

Today...a week later, they acknowledged receipt.
I'd consider that a milestone improvement, when I sent my hopper in last year it took a month of back and forth before they established they lost my unit. As far as I know they have a staff of 4 people, each week they would respond the employee they asked haven't seen it till all 4 employees answered which took 4 weeks! Don't even ask how long it took for them to answer what they will do about it . In conclusion V5 or V6 or whatever it's termed now works no better than the V1 I bought 2 years ago.

Wow....Hopper Labs...I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried...sigh

Seriously? And I presume that your V1/2 was NOT working well...so the new one is not working well either?

Its so frakin hard to determine if they really have made any progress at all on reliability and consistency of performance.

@Baron23 You are absolutely correct, my replacement works no better than the original did when I sent it in all the other times. As a matter of fact the replacement they sent fell apart the moment I unscrewed it to inspect it, the clicker popped right off with the spring and all before I even had a test run. I made an angry IG post with a photo of the clicker and eventually took the post down, all the negative vibes was just not worth it. HL sent me a replacement backend to replace the replacement but the heat is luke warm and the backend gets extremely hot. I don't have the energy to keep hounding them for a proper functioning unit so it's been sitting in a drawer again.

If you don't mind my asking...when did you first get this new GH...the one that popped apart...from HL?

And...I'm so sorry, my friend. What a lousy story.

Thanks for your kind words. The replacement arrived some time in late November I believe around Thanksgiving. Speaking of which, allow me to thank you for lending me some inspiration on dealing with that situation. If I remembered correctly around that time you posted about your fustrations with how your RMA was being handled and you wrote HL a letter that was very nicely articulated. I did my best to follow your example on how to be properly assertive without being aggressive or whinny:).

So, I’m trying to remember if that was after the move and supposedly restart of production w all of the touted design fixes and testing.

Do you know?

And thank you for the compliment. Glad I was of some help, but tbh I don’t remember exactly what it was I did! Haha. Did I quote my RMA note to them?

I’m 66 and yesterday has become a mystery to me! Haha

Bought a grasshopper for 420 sale. They sent me a used vape. Brand new outside shell but used inside components. They said if I sent it back they would exchange it, and it was a accident.
Brother, given their history it’s hard for me to believe them.

I mean, what kind of frakin’ accident would give this result.

I don’t think I know of a company in my 66 years of life that was so competent and consistent at fucking up.

So, are they paying shipping both ways?

I agree with you totally. If I was the company I would send a brand new one out and wait for the consumer to send me the used one back. But they wanted to make sure they receive it before they ship the new one.
I’m a brand new customer and the vape performance awesome but man did that leave a bad taste in my mouth. I provided pictures so they could clearly see the oven was used and the threads were worn and scratches

How can you tell it had used guts?

What wear and tear did you see to tell you that?

Thanks

Of course they should send a replacement right out. There is no reason or point in HL not trusting your story to be true. Why the fuck would you make it up? "Customer is always right" should apply, but this is alternate Hopper-verse.

I sent clear photos, they saw them and seemed embarrassed by the error, but they still wanted me to ship back and revive and inspect before shipping out a new one.

It’s an embarrassment of riches with them given all the blunders and mis-steps they’ve taken which we’ve seen evidence of first hand. Some of us (myself included), not all anyway. TGIF!:peace:

Wow, last post was Friday at noon and its now Sunday about 11 am.

Used to be you couldn't catch up with this thread.

Community just burnt out on the same old stories.....maybe?
Not much new to this old saw.

EDIT;
Oh, alright, here's a Hopper tip:
The standard mouthpiece gets too hot for me, plus I've seen the inner parts. Besides the screen, there are 2 funnels, one is some sort of plastic and the other looks kinda like copper. Gunk accumulates between all the parts. The insides do not get thoroughly cleaned by an iso soak.
I use a PFE all the time.

On the PFE I slide a very short piece of silicone tubing. Only about 3/8" long, piece of high temp 7/16" (5/16" inside dia.), right onto, and flush with, the end of the PFE (7/16" is very tight, but short piece is easier to stretch over the end of PFE; I'm sure 1/2" would work fine). It's tight enough to stay on all the time, even during cleaning, which now means holding the PFE with tongs under very hot tap water for about 30 seconds. Done. Super clean, even the threads.
This small condom allows me to draw on Hopper, even at setting 5, it's not bad.

Those HL condoms are beat; too expensive, too bulky and after a short while they get loose. My short ones don't even discolor, they are not actually in the vapor path.

There's so many problems and still currently solid waits for resolution, but otherwise it's a chill time.

I've been enjoying the instant-ready nature of the GH above most features, but it's the whole package of vapour density, ease and experience of the GH that keeps me coming back time and time again.

It's not perfect by any means, but it's very convenient, super tasty, hits with a very nice signature and it fits a niche like no other.
The bubbler has been great too, I like it.

I hope more get their units back faster and have similar enjoyment.
Things are still a bit topsy-turvy but what can ya do?
The GH is not the only vape to enjoy, I recently got this sweet pocket bubbler and it has convinced me to build a conduction coil...

Vapes, bubblers and cannabis. A complicated but good time.
