The Mighty/Mighty+ by Storz & Bickel

I've had the same Mighty for 3-1/2 years now (first 2 it was daily driver, used a lot).
Then it sat for a year in unheated/uncool ed storage, and now is enjoying a relaxed lifestyle, being used about once a week for a few caps. But if I want to, I can enjoy a whole magazine of 8 caps on a charge. Heatup time is slowing a bit, especially when charge is down, so I often do the heat up on AC power..

A friend is thinking of buying a new Mighty, is this still a solid option for flower in 2019? Kind of out of the flower scene as I mostly use concentrates these days. All of the box mod stuff looks cool for someone like me but she is not a tinkerer or vape wizard so simplicity is important.

Still very solid :)

It’s a pretty foolproof machine (And trust me, I am quite the fool), a pleasure to use with flower and kief, Not the best with concentrates IMO

Hi, FC heads!
This is my first post here. Recently after long research I bought a Mighty. It's with me some 8-9 days. Newest version (20% more battery, inhale the difference version, 04-2018 model). I like everything about this device - vapor quality, flavor, build etc., except one thing - battery life. Read here that most have about 8-12 sessions on full charge with the newest 2018 model. Unluckily my experience so far is not so great at all. Maneged to have between 5-6 sessions on full charge - 0.1 grams, 8-10 minutes, 12 hits (10 on 195°C and last two in boost mode on 210°C). That's it, my battery after those 5-6 sessions is totally empty. Is it OK or should I need to worry about this issue?
Thanks in advance.

@HallieDe, yeah, same thing here bought mine as well on 4/20 sale past month.

Question for those more experienced Mighty users. Is it possible to start RMA in this case? Because 45 to max 55 minutes on full charge is far less than advertised 90 minutes. It make me feel somehow no so happy about this otherways great product.

@MonkeyTime
Ok, step by step, start to finish. The herbs that I put in dosing capsules (yes, I use those for keeping oven clear) is very dry, fine grinded, 0,1 grams. Inhaling is long and soft (temperature only falls 2-3 increments in Celsius scale in time of that hit). Between hits there is 15-20 sec. pause. In that manner I keep doing my 10 hits, after that turn boost mode and go from 195°C to 210° for another two hits. That's it session is done. It takes 8-10 minutes (was seeking on my watch). And so another 4 or 5 times, till battery level on display falls to 0 increments. Than I put device for a full charge. And than repeat everything what was written above. I have done this cycle already 3 times, now i'm charging my Mighty for 4th time in last 9 days (that's the time when I recieved it). Device is real and authentic 2018 model (S&B confirmed me that). Using it 2 times a day, in my appartment (place is dry and warm 24/7). Maybe it's really some storing issue in warehouse by seller?

So, nothing's changed (still manage to have 5-6 sessions from a full charged Mighty). So I initiated RMA, citing battery problems as a reason. This is what S&B replied me back:

"Thank you for your message!

We do not advertise the runtime per charge because the performance of the batterys strongly dependent of the user habits.

A fully charged MIGHTY should be able to vaporize 5 to 6 filling chamber of herbs which corresponds to 60 to 70min of permanent operation.

Again, this is just a approximate value because the performance of the battery is strongly dependent of the user habits.

With kind regards,

Technical Support"

So, according to them that's not a problem. 45-55 minutes and 5-6 sessions from full charge is still normal. But, somehow according to most of users experience I found on various forums on internet it's (90+ minutes, 8-12 sessions with 2018 20% more battery power) totally abnormal.
This is so contradictive.

I will say that I get through my 9 to 12 caps fairly quickly but 5 to 6 caps to one charge sounds more like a Fury2 than a 2x18650 powered Mighty...if you were vaping kief bowls(they never seem to end) OK, but you are not. I do not know what else to recommend to you to do, except to get a Tera or Fierce, stainless steel bowls, heaters and quick change batteries and great aftersales service....sorry, I know this does not help with your current problem.

I suggest that you write back to S&B and use their guideline now to cite the specific reasons(s) or way(s) that your new Mighty deviates from those guidelines. I believe they've just furthered the conversation, not shut you down. Be civil and follow up. It's for science!

It seems RMA status is still "Pending" and that message which came from S&B support team is not a RMA canceling yet. In addition, it's written below to not respond to that message. So, I will keep waiting RMA status change and according to that will adjust my further actions. Thank you all for advices!

the unit shuts off after 2 minutes???
It does not shut down unless you do not pull hard enough...I admit that it only stays on by the 'auto draw detection' while I use it on a bong, or a J hook if I am finishing a bowl or being a pig with a friend to help. Maybe minutes on time would be better than sesh as that can mean different things to different people.
So I get about an hour of run time if used back to back from memory, I should do a back to back run time on flat out on the bong...there goes an afternoon for science, I will report back when I get a chance to run the test.:science:

I have an old mighty that used to get great battery life, but now is down to 4 loads, and a newer model that gets 6-7.

The difference I've heard is the newer software. The operating system has changed. 2 minute shut down vrs 1 and whatnot.

The performance is still pretty damn good though.

How are you only getting 5-6 sessions on a full charge when the unit shuts off after 2 minutes???

This is what the Mighty user's manual (p. 16) says about the automatic power off feature:

The automatic switching off is used to save battery capacity so that the vaporizer can be used as long as possible without charging.

The device switches off automatically one minute after the last press of a button or the last application. The switching off of the vaporizer is indicated by a short vibration.

A short press of the ON/OFF switch during operation can reset the automatic switching off to one minute.

Maybe in your older model @John Coaltrain, my near new unit runs for 2 minutes after the warm-up vibration alert if I do not use it.
I just turned my unit on, set it on 350f so I could hit it hard as many times as needed to prove a point, the Mighty ran for just over 13 minutes without touching any buttons, only drawing on the bong (it only turned off because I was distracted).
It seems like the newer models have been upgraded with more than just the 20% more battery batteries.

Don't shoot the messenger. I'm just quoting verbatim what Storz & Bickel say. You'll note I did not say anything about my own personal experience with my own Mighty.

But while we're now on the topic of my own experience with it, I have to agree; it seems like mine (before I sold it) went at least two minutes before powering down automatically.

But then again, I don't recall even once when it actually did power down automatically. I attribute that to temp-stepping.

What way do you use small amounts in the microdose range?
Like 0.05 - 0.01 g

Recently i just used the dosing capsules and filled the rest with the already vaped herb.
Seems to work nice, any downside to this?
I’m seeing you everywhere!

In my Crafty, I use a regular pipe screen. Cut a wedge out like a slice of pie. Use the remaining screen and pull the 2 exposed edges together to make a cone shape. Then just push the screen on top of your micro-load (cone point down).

This helps keep your cu clean(er) too.

Hope this is understandable and helps!

You must have good lungs as I can only manage that through water.
Not trying to shoot you down, I just thought you were reading your own paperback manual that might have been about the older model.

As it turns out, by all rights you should have shot me down. I had this Mighty Manual on my hard-drive for a while (don't know where I got it), but just now went to the Storz & Bickel website and got a manual there. Here's what the same section (same page: 16) now says:

The automatic switching off is used to save battery capacity so that the Vaporizer can be used as long as possible without charging.

The device switches off automatically two minutes after the last press of a button or the last application.

The switching off of the Vaporizer is indicated by a short vibration. A short press of the ON/OFF switch during operation can reset the automatic switching-off to two minutes.
Be of good cheer, ye users of the Mighty: @LesPlenty and Storz & Bickel have given you a new, much longer, lease on life.
