Randall did a stream last week wherein he said that they were coming out with 4, & if I understood this correctly >, "all-in-one" atmomizers: a quartz one, a ceramic one, a silicone carbide one, a silicone nitrate one.

I feel like just nailing ONE of those would suffice. I think this thing is being spread too thin trying to please EVERYBODY. If we could just focus on one atomizer that works with a matching set of useful temperatures that would really be great. I really don't want that one great insert to be titanium though.

What does a young boss player have to do to get one of these silicon carbide atomizers to help Randall test and evaluate? A one man band is not big enough, trust me; I've tested products for plenty of vaporizer manufacturers to help improve them - I want to know how I can help make this product better?

I agree. It also concerns me that they chose to do the retail release without any staff to help support it.
At this point, my only experience with Focus cs is waiting a week for a reply about my atty dying in 2 weeks.
I'm not new to this. I can be patient.
I understand its just 2 people.
I understand they went to Italy.
But, a regular retail customer will complain to the place they purchased. who will send them to Focus, who can take more than a week to respond.
That lack of staff can quickly kill a companies reputation.
add to that, a lack of cohesive product with the ever changing atty.
At this point, looking forward, you could buy a new carta every month and whats in the box will be different every time.
That sounds like a troubleshooting/cs nightmare.
Hopefully they will see that they are approaching the tipping point on the success of the unit.

there was also a thing on Instagram about Ceramic buckets. just a yes/no poll.
maybe thats the "patch" for the quartz issue?

Also; I'd rather rebuild the v1 and use quartz over new versions of a TI atty.
replaceable buckets of various materials, rebuildable heater to keep life costs low, sounds like a product a can get behind.... eventually... but first... check out this new TI atty :bang:

Well I’m still waiting for a response for over 2 months now I’m kinda pissed cause Canadians can’t download the upgrade for the free unit we’re supposed to receive but no one ever answers my questions such bulshit

I just received a tracking email for the replacement atty.
Just FYI. no other contact between filling out form, and the ship notification.

Let me add this, for those considering the carta, it's a great TI dabber.
If you like dabbing on TI, don't care about quartz, etc. It works great.
I'm sure there would be a difference on atty life as well.

If your looking at it for it's advertised versatility of buckets (quartz to start), it might not be for you.....yet.

Bluetooth: I just want to say... I don't understand not updating the beta on the site to the "new" beta release. He says he's testing on what he can "get his hands on" to be "sure". I thought that was the POINT of the beta. To test the software on a larger population before release.
He has said on IG that he "wont make that mistake again", because of the complaints about the beta.
Isn't that the point of the beta.
People will always complain, regardless.
it looks like it will be a wait for it to be released to the store and issues worked out later.

see what happens when my devices have issues. I get cranky.
I guess I'll just use the V2 TI and chill.
it's not anywhere as nice as Quartz, but, it will get me where I need to be.
so, "that'll do pig, that''ll do."

Looks like FocusV has some cleanup to do...

Some further trial and error observations-

Had my first spill over. This was using my original Retail atomizer and quartz. I had already observed a degradation to the atomizer, and was trying to crank the last bit of life out of it... pretty sure this occurred as the heat up time was so long that the oil had the chance to rise up over the cup as the oil attempted to reach the colder surface.

Have also had my other old trusty atomizer started to require a +36* degree increase to produce the same results it had been. This is after 180~ dabs on this atty. I expect it to die soon, but will keep documenting until it does

This weekend I was using my Peak with a quartz bucket, just like I want to do with my Carta.

The bucket is a cheap-o from China and isn't a prefect fit with the bottom side of the peak atomizer ring. If I press down hard on the cap and turn it a certain way where it will apply firm pressure down on to the quartz cup, I get great results on the lowest temp.

I tested this 4 or 5 times this weekend with my Peak.

I can provide photos if anyone wants more detail about what exactly I'm talking about here.

tldr

If the quartz bucket is rattling around in the atomizer on my Peak I get horrible results, every single time
If the quartz bucket is pressed in firmly and not rattling around, I get great results every single time

Every quartz bucket has rattled around like crazy in every atomizer I have for my Carta.

Kinda sorta seems like these are related.........

Anyone else using the app and notice the temp dial changes as you screw on the atty? Mine is very finicky. Slight tighten on the atty and my app goes into flower mode temps, then slight loosen it tighten and will change back to oil temps. Also noticed that my atty temps only go up to 480, where before I could crank it up to 800-900. Is that a sign of degradation of the atty when the app shows low temps bc thr atty can no longer handle the higher temps? So I tried just using the preset temps and lvl 3-4 are giving the wispy hits. Think it might be time for a new atty. I think it’ll be helpful if the app is correct in showing temp degrading over time so you can see if the atty is near death. Hoping that’s what it is lol. Trial and error with this thing.

Congrats on your major discovery that contact is a fundamental tenet of heat transfer ;)

Sorta.

Immediately after getting my Carta I posted here on FC (or was it reddit?) about its poor performance with quartz and how it seemed like it would perform better with some pressure on it holding it to the heater.

Someone told me all it needed was the force of gravity to hold down the bucket and that they had a bunch of experience in the field. Randall also told me the quartz dish rattling around wasn't a problem and it didn't need to be firmly pressed against the hater.

After that I figured I must be mistaken so I ceased posting about it. This weekend with my Carta sidelined I figured out how to to jerry rig the Peak atomizer assembly to give good contact from the quartz to the heater disk. Resulting in very good, repeatable performance.

Glad you were able to troubleshoot your issue and I apologize if my advice was incorrect in your situation. Gravity certainly is enough in the Carta like devices I have used in my own experience, however I have to remember all devices act differently. I have not owned a Carta so I probably should have just kept my mouth shut.

I'm FAR from an expert, and I don't know if that's causing the issue in my Carta, it just seems like the similarities are just too similar for me not to bring it up again.

I "fixed" the issue in my Peak by making sure there was good pressure holding down my quartz (to the point of no rattling) and it performs great now.

If I can figure out a safe material to make a small spacer that will sit in between the top lip of the Carta quartz cup and the bottom side of the atomizer ring I can test it out.

Any ideas? I assume aluminum foil would be dangerous.

edit: @nosmoking could it be the quartz isn't flat enough on the bottom for gravity alone to give it enough contact to the heater? And maybe the Ti buckets can be manufactured much flatter so they need less assistance, or no assistance at all, to press up against the heater?

edit 2: what about high temp o-rings? There are o-rings on my Lotus that might be close size wise.

I'm not sure what I'm doing right but I'm still rocking my first Atomizer I got with the V2. I dab at least 15 times a day. For maint I take the quartz cup out once a day to clean around it with a Qtip and tissues. I'll get around the quartz inside the atomizer, under the cap and then under the atomizer itself and the grooves of the base, all while it's still warm. This prevents any buildup inside/outside the atomizer. The only place I can't get is the gap between the heater/cup holder and bottom wire area since the teeth make tissue clean ups difficult. That being said it's not requied and I refuse to use ISO on my devices as long as I can help it. I do NOT use any ISO near this thing at all. I've learned that ISO on the Teflon/silocon grommets on the bottom that hokld the wires will cause them to dry out and the wire will push through. This is for ANY atomizer int he world that uses this style, not just the carta.

I run it on lvl 1 once, and then about 15 second later I run level 1 again and it'll run a bit hotter the second time. I may bump it up to lvl 2 during the hit if I feel like it. But I've run 4-5 back to back sessions on level 1 and 2 with no issues. Just know that every session it will run a litle hotter than the last unless you let it cool down completely. This might be how peopel are burning them out.

I have 3 atomizers and haven't even put a dent in the first one, so I think I'm set for life if they release those rebuild kits. I can always go back to my V1 if I have too since it still works. I would be frutstrated if it wasn't' working though, since nothing else compares right now.

I’m like you still running on the first V2 atty that came with the updated unit. I usually have around 10 sessions a day on setting 2. Atty seems to be holding up. Haven’t used it in awhile but, the V1 I got is still working too. My biggest disappointments so far is the Bluetooth app and the Helix piece I got is a little loose so it can leak air. It works but, would work a lot better if it fit tighter.

Hi guys, not sure if this is the best place to ask but do any of you know where I can find information about Focus V as a brand. I just can't seem to find an "about page" on their website. Any help would do. Thanks.

Hi all,
I posted a few days ago about having to start the warranty process for my Carta. I believe that I sent in the request on Thursday and I just received confirmation of my new unit shipping out to me. 3 business days is damn good.

Also, my issue had nothing to do with the atomizer. We troubleshooted the issue and it appears to be a sticky button issue. Good luck to all. Anxiously waiting for my new Carta.

It's the beta version so its expected to have issues which they have said are being worked on. That said, by and large, we all want the app to work properly but they do have bigger fish to fry. If your only issue is that app, I think you're probably doing pretty well.

Hi Guys Sorry for the lack of response on FC. Instagram or Phone is for sure going to be the best means of contact for the time being.

Updates from Milan. So i showed up there with about 14 dabs on my counter and left the weekend with just under 200. It was intense for sure haha. kk lets jump into some updates...

For those bringing up concerns of us working on other atomizer design. The way manufacturing works with our engineers is we can work on multiple projects at once in order to complete them in a timely manor due to testing etc.. So although I discuss the the style of atomizers that are coming out we are still working on improving the current one.

For those who have had multiple failures you are correct that is certainly not the norm, and nor has that been the norm for the high majority of users. We have and will continue to support those users via the warranty process and we are confident you will get to a point where you are filling very comfortable with your Carta.

We are working to implement a new warranty process so you can get a bit more updated on what stage of the process you are in.

Overall experiences have been very positive. We appreciate all the continued support. We do our best to answer every Email / Phone Call / DM that has come our way and we will continue to do so. Of course there will be a few that have a bad experience which is normal. and I am sure frustrating at that, for those users. I can say that we have a very low return rate compared to units on the market right now. We hope to continue to lower that rate.

Anyone who follows us on our main platform (Instagram) they know they can reach out and get a response within 24 hours. (for immediate assistance please call the Number: 7372310556)

We will continue to do our live streams and we are working on a digital user guide at the moment to get more detailed instructions for use and care out there to everyone!

PS @kingkasc the post office did in fact send us a bill for $1.73 haha

gonna go live soon. fill free to drop on in and ask any question you may have!

@focusvproducts on instagram.

I have the v2 atomizer and just tried the quartz cup on level 3 with a small rice size piece of shatter and it was great! Instant smokestack! I had to turn it off till I recovered from the first hit, lol.
