Herb Grinders

Has anyone seen the QUBUS???

Looks very interesting.

Threadless design, square shaped so grip should be better than normal, and looks like a nice big reservoir.

6061 aluminum though. (Not bad, but after the brilliant cut...)

Interesting shape. I wonder if it is more comfortable.
I also like the airtight seal. I occasionally forget to transfer freshly ground herb to a jar. This would be great for that.
Curious what size grind it gives out.

I seem to recall a very similar design but with a partially wooden construction. Could have been by the same people.

Design looks good, unsure about the square shape and the ergonomics, but it does look like another good option.

Proof is in the grind though. The through holes look generic. I am very happy with the BCG, in its creation they knuckled down on the teeth and through hole design and the payout is well worth it.

Always good to have options, and a lot with the Qubus looks decent

Price is very reasonable at 65$ also
It also makes the single plate BCG a bit more palatable.

Better Al stock, $10 more now, $10 less later.

The Qubus with its kief collection, threadless design and larger size is a great option however. Who's going to bite the bullet to show it's grind consistency off?

What is with Grinder companies not doing that first and foremost.. it's kind of the biggest factor with a grinder after all.

The Qubus teeth look like Phoenician Grinder which has a coarse chop

My initial thoughts are that, other than the square shape, none of it's features seem like anything new. GFL's BCG has spoiled me

Just another traveller in the Cannaverse
I've used grinders for the past 15 years or so and turned a bunch of folks onto them that had never used them. They changed everything for the good when I smoked and are just as necessary, or more so, when vaping. At least for me.

I've tried so many. I have a nice one from Amazon, a nice one from Interplanetary Design, and a Chewy 2. But none of those really cut it for me. I got the Chewy because I thought it would help with my tendinitis, but the motor just isn't very strong which means I have to hold the button down a long time negating any relief I might get from not having to manual twist a grinder.

Well, I got an Easy Grinder today from Amazon today and it's the ticket. It came fully charged-how cool is that. It uses a micro USB to charge. It was very easy to setup, easy to load, and most importantly it's very easy on the hands.

I ground about an 1/8th really fast with short 2-3 second bursts. It's easy to control the grind; I prefer coarse for the vapes I use, but you could easily turn even the stickiest weed to dust by leaving it in longer.

You'll want a good brush and a stir tool handy to get the most out of it-but most of us have those kinds of tools laying around.

My only caution would be this: Grind with the 'lid' closed most of the time, and during and after grinding make sure to have the grinder over something like a piece of paper to empty the load on. Lots of kief can get 'stuck' around the blade and you could easily spill a bunch when you pull the device apart.

nah... don't want that lube mixing into any materials

I hear you. But the lubricant is 100% hemp oil. How bad can that be?

And I don't see why you couldn't take a rolling paper and give it a quick wipe after applying, then take that hemp oil sodden rolling paper – now seasoned also with a little kief residuals – and stuff it into your vaporizer. Empower yourself with your reclaim, bro.

And if you read the reviews on Amazon, you'll see that it only takes less than a very small drop – so it's not like it'll be overflowing into your flower:

https://www.amazon.ca/Lid-Lube-Lubr...show_all_btm?ie=UTF8&reviewerType=all_reviews

Furthermore, the oil is applied to the male part of the grinder (which is covered by the female counterpart when in use) so contact with your flower doesn't even seem possible. The oil is always exterior to the inner sanctum of the grinding chamber.

How about just a simple cleaning every now and then?

A simple cleaning – is simple enough, of course – but if you grind as much as I do, this would have to be done every day. That's how quickly my grinders build up the hyper-sticky blotches of residue along the male/female contact – particularly because I sometimes grind upside down when a particular flower calls for it.

Then it becomes not so simple.

BCG you mean?

That's one of the top options I would recommend.

Though, with any grinder, I'm a bit mystified why applying oil to sticky parts is recommended above simply cleaning your damn grinder.
In that scenario, which is the scenario most of us have to deal with, even cheap grinders work great when they are clean.

Get a decent brush, and brush your damn grinders out after using them people. it will stretch the time between cleanings manyfold.

To each their own some like it clean and smooth and other like it dirty with lube... Lid lube that is... What this product does it give you extra time without cleaning. Really works well for the cost. Just my opinion though...

Gotta agree with @Ramahs on this topic so much. Before discovering FC, all my grinders got grungy and stuck with resin rings all the time, I never brushed them out and can’t remember cleaning one correctly.
Thanks to the civilised people here, I (re)learned that old adage “like attracts like” and how much it applies to the tools we use in our world. With a grinder, leaving those resin heads behind each time just encourages more resin from subsequent use to stick and become compacted to the surface. Taking a few seconds to brush those glistening gems out when they’re fresh and loose is easy peasy; you’re not losing the best part of the bud to your grinder, it’s going in the bowl! Cleaning is simply warm water & a toothbrush. Easy.

Ataxian made me realise it’s true with glassware using the drinking glass analogy, really simple even for my simple mind to comprehend. It makes sense to keep bongs fresh and clean like you would everything else. Then another helpful member posted about how they used to let their rigs get lotsa reclaim but after a change in perspective, it wasn’t cool and now it just looked like the glass had shitted itself. That mental image really did it for me and I (re)learned that if the walls of the glass are clean, even dry stems & j-hooks, more goodies wind up in my lungs rather than clinging to them. If there’s already a layer of condensate coating the walls of the glass, you can bet that it’s going to attract more of the same.

I was a barbarian for many years of combustion, doing the same old thing over again. It’s really crazy how much I’ve learned from all the smart people here in just a couple of years. Mike of ScratchedGlassworks once said that (loose paraphrase) learning here was like getting your stoner PhD. I second that emotion.

That's why I only use my ELB for my EVO just one basket before wash and I clean my vapcap condensers and tips every morning before use. I like that fresh & pure taste. I would also brush my teeth after a few heavy sessions.

Picked some of this up today from local vape shop, and am very impressed. I applied two small pin-prick sized drops and my favorite grinder feels better than new. Yes – better than new.

Some have mentioned picking up a BCG grinder. So my choices were:

1. Stay with the grinder I know and love, and pay $5 to have it running better than new

OR

2. Pay $200, wait about two months (!) for shipping, and hope it gives me the type of grind that I like

I know that a lot of members around here aren't OK with people having experiences which are different from theirs – but this is my experience, and I'm more than happy with it. If you're unhappy with my experience, I suggest you prepare the sackcloth and ashes.

If you look at the photo on the manufacturer's website, you'll see that the oil is applied EXTERIOR to the grinding chamber. Flower inside; oil outside. This ain't rocket science. It does not collect dust, kief, Republicans, quantum-mechanics-theorists, boogey-men, or anything for that matter. Stuff that's outside cannot collect stuff that's inside.

I'll repeat myself: the oil is applied to the little external ridge on the exterior male part of the grinder where it contacts the female part (in the area where your thumb likely rests when you're grinding). This is where the majority of operational friction occurs, quite independently of whether or not anything sticky has collected there.

In my experience, this is where stubborn patches of residue collect. Again, in my experience, these cannot be simply brushed off.

Sometimes the answer is not simply to buy more stuff. It's not nice to say such things to those who want us to buy their stuff, of course, but I prefer resourcefulness over accumulating more stuff – particularly when I'm happy with what I've got.

I've always thought it better to understand something before I renounce it. But that's just me.
