what's the current estimated wait time for an RMA? I had an email from them a while back explaining the times but can't find it

From email on 18 Mar. Since I just sent my two back to them, I don't expect to see either of them until the fall.....which is too stupid for words.

I mean really...does anybody actually think this is defensible after all of these years? I do not.

Warranty Date

Timeframe

Mar-Apr 2018 Servicing Now

May-July 2018 2-4 Months

Aug-Nov 2018 3-5 Months

Dec - Current 4-6 Months

Well, I'm celebrating 1 year RMA . My only unit is out from so long time that I don't even remember exactely how it looks like. Naturally I got another driver, like the majority here. Because not all the people can buy lot of expencive units. The one I got now costs 1/5 and will never ever fail, which is not the GH case. Next holydays in august when I will go abroad I would like to have it back, not because of its job , that can be done otherways, but for stealthy. It would be a good thing, but I don't know if I will get it back (working) for that time, as I hear from last posts. Anyhow I will not take it as the only one, my trust is over. And as I said many many months ago, I would prefer 1000 times to pay the right for fixing it and get it repaired in a reasonable time instead of a free infinite warranty.

My GH bubbler from DHgate (search "Zob bubbler") has arrived today.

I'd guess it is second quality due to some minor imperfections.

It's really a very nice piece though!
Can't wait to give it a test drive. It's got everything I'd look for in a basic bubbler, and it matches very nicely with the hopper

edit: just checked their site - says 3-5 MONTHS!!!
can that be right? holy hell

That's what they told me at first too. Or maybe it was 4-6. In either case they were wrong. And they were still wrong 4-6 months later. And 4-6 months after that.

So I wouldn't advise anyone to hold their breath.

I have a similar piece of glass that I bought for the Hopper from dhgate. Also seems like a second, but it works great for the price, and it's FANTASTIC with a working Hopper. Luckily mine also fits my Nonavongs.

...snip...

The second nice thing has been a revisit to the 3d printed loading tool, the one from Israel. I have been more diligent following instructions about grind and load, and have used it without clogging it up for several days now. It just took a little more discipline, but I'm happy, it has been easy and fun to use!

I purchased the Day and Night version of the Grasshopper loader back in December.

It got stuck frequently. Since it was the double-chambered version, both sides of the outside of the "barrel" were exposed to the herb, resulting in a sticky barrel that often wouldn't turn or go in/out of the body.

I found myself cleaning it a couple of times per week, including a full disassembly and cleaning of all parts.

The last time I cleaned it I was overly aggressive with the brush. I noticed that the piston would now "wobble" within the body. It was still attached, but barely.

I ran very hot water through it for a period of time, to get all of the sticky resin off. After that I dried it with a hair dryer. That was a mistake.

After letting it dry disassembled for 24 hours I attempted to re-assemble it. The barrel would no longer fit inside the body. I tried to force it in but ending up snapping the barrel in two pieces, with one piece still completely stuck inside the body. I assume that heating it with the hair dryer caused it to contract when it cooled, shrinking the opening in the body past the point that would allow the barrel to slide in.

I will not be ordering another one. It got stuck too often for it to be used long term. It was difficult to clean thoroughly. And it did not stand up to aggressive cleaning and drying.

My experience anyway...

I just ordered the mini loading funnel from Delta 3D Studios.

Most vape accessories will be printed in PLA plastic (fermented plant starch).
Whilst food grade, it doesn’t hold up well against heat, melting at ~150 C / 300 F, but it also can deform even under harsh sunlight. The lamination between layers isn’t as well bonded as other printable types of plastic like PETG, but either way there is a great surface area to the finish which is prone to bacterial build up. It needs cleaning but it can’t be heated up too harshly.

I still have my GH Feeder and it’s in good condition, though it doesn’t get a lot of use. I only use it for stealthy packs when out and about. Otherwise I find it easier just loading normally.

A funnel would be a good accessory too, but I couldn’t be bothered with one personally.
I did buy a knock-off NewVape Pax scoop from eBay, but again it’s easier loading normally. The scoop fits the chamber perfectly though.

Also after last nights session I can confirm the GH Bubbler is really good. I’ve had quite a few similar styles, my fourth piece off the gate was a D020 and it was totally crap by comparison. So is my Matrix side car, though it’s similar.
This piece is thick all round, though the base is on the thinner side. It’s weighty, stable and doesn’t have any splash back even when overfilled. The perc is an 8 hole downstem, and it’s perfectly located in the basin. Great function, a bit turbulent so not a super stacker but it does stack. Flavour retention is all there and massive clouds are cooled just enough. It’s a bit of a funny shaped rig, but with a GH plugged in it looks sleek. The mouthpiece is great and the whole piece is well made and kiln annealed, which is rare from the gate. My perc is a little untidy as the holes aren’t perfectly placed and symmetrical, but I’d say it’s the best quality rig I’ve got from China.

If you can get one from HL without massive shipping fees ($50 USD to Aus!) I’d say it’s well worth it when considering the alternatives: Grav labs bubbler, US Tubes hybrid bubbler, Shwayze Glass wolverine rig. Those options are much more expensive, and buying from the gate does not yield the same quality.

However for vaping this piece is worth having, it’s a staple 14mm basic bubbler and it shreds.

Check out @Ratchett 3d printed ss scoop and tamp .. I also have the hopper feeder from Israel and it works well but I've found I like a scoop or two over a fully packed bowl that the feeder provides .

I agree the feeder is fussy and must be kept very clean. I also see that it may not last a long time, but it is working well for now, and as @MoltenTiger says, for quick/stealth/clean filling, it suits the bill.
I primarily use the delta 3d mini funnel and sometimes even the stand that's from him, and a small infant spoon, right out of the grinder, and maybe a toothpick or poker just to settle the load down in there. I can certainly load more in this way than with the filling tool, but the draw suffers a little.

I usually store my ground flower in small dram vials which pour fairly well into the chamber, and I use my mitts (I.e hand) as a natural funnel to catch any extraneous particulates. This has never been an issue for me and works at home or on the go. Just ordered wide mouth jarvials for increased functionality with HR stems as well as the Hopper.

Update on most recent repiared hopper: Back to flashing lights like the battery is about to die right after the one bowl that it stopped doing it after I cleaned the back end. Tried cleaning the back end more and twisting the dial back and forth but it still does it no matter what. Blinks in groups of 3. Still working okay and no more early red lights since the first 2 but it's still not ideal.

I hear ya @Cheesequake but I’ve had flashing lights since day one with both of my Grasshoppers and I feel their reliability is definitely above average. I wouldn’t worry too much about the lights flashing as long as your hopper is performing well.

I will add to the chorus here. I'm using a relatively new V5 SS body. I just started using it a few weeks ago. I noticed immediately that it flashed on every draw. It seems to flash in a pattern, possibly in groups of 3.

Performance is excellent nonetheless.

Has HL opined on the new light patterns? Sounds like unintentional functionality to me. Very glad to hear performance is improved and assuming consistent however knowing what the different light patterns mean is fairly important for operation I would think. :2c::peace:

It seems to keep getting farther and farther out, I can't claim to know when but I wouldn't expect May.
As I mentioned above, take any of their dates & estimates with a grain of salt. It is what it is from HL until they can better estimate such things.:peace:
