Can vaping bud along with other natural herbs/roots be beneficial?

So I was reading the cannabible the other day and the author suggests vaping some cannabis along with Licorice root and mint root which will not only enhance the high but also is good for the lungs. Anyone ever try anything like those or know of any other good combinations? It seems like a very interesting prospect and i'm still new to vaping so any info would be appreciated.

here i am!

Grim,
you could safely vape cannabis with a very tiny bit of dried organic peppermint or spearmint, i've done it and it gives a nice taste, but no specific medical benefits that i noticed. mint family plants tend to expectorate and cool, but don't quote me on that. i would not use the root, the commonly used part of mint is either the leaf or the flower, but perhaps you know something i don't.

I haven't vaped licorice root (as opposed to the leaf, flower, bark, etc.) but it is generally regarded as safe, so i feel it would be doable. probably lend a nice sweet quality to the smoke. I have seen it incorporated into some old herbal tobacco recipes.

some herbs are indeed potentiators, meaning they boost the power of whatever herb they are put with. mullein is one of these herbs and i have heard that you can vape it. it is supposed to be a better than average expectorant, so it may make you cough up some organs if you aren't careful with it.
i understand that it can make cannabis more effective, but i have no personal experience with it. in fact i have a lil jar of mullein sitting in with my vaping supplies right now, it's been there for a month and i haven't had the balls to try it. it smells sweet and is another ingredient in herbal tobacco.

no matter what you add i must advise caution, go slowly and take note of the effects as you go along. Herbs are powerful medicines and must be treated with respect.

chamomile, lavender or hops would probably be safe to vape too.

I often used vaporized cannabis in combo with chamomile, scullcap, kava kava, valerian root, cramp bark or hops either in extract form or pill form. the combo of (oral) kava and (vaped) cannabis is particularly nice and can help alleviate the nausea that sometimes comes with kava kava root and it's rank ass dirt flavor. sniffed lavender or marjoram essential oils on a tissue or cotton ball can add some sedative effects to your buzz too, whereas something like peppermint or black pepper could lend a speedy quality to it.

I have also had the idea of adding a cotton ball with a drop of safe essential oil on it to the stash container - not directly on the herb - for flavor and/or therapeutic benefits. haven't done this yet either. next bag maybe.

I'd love to hear if you have any successes. I've mentioned that vaping something like cannabis, coltsfoot or elecampane with the correct essential oils could be used as a treatment for a stubborn, deep seated respiratory infection or the seasonal bronchitis like my father in law gets. Still waiting for an opportunity to try it out. If DH keeps smoking, i may have my chance to try it out this winter :(

just tried a tiny pinch (>1/8 tsp - just enough to barely cover the bottom of the trench) of mullein, filling the rest of the launch box trench tot he shoulders with my herb of choice.
it's not harsh, no coughing up lung butter or anything. i barely noticed it because i started so small. maybe a little something more than usual, but that could also be because i just took some kava kava pills 3 hours ago.

i'll use a bit more next time.

I often mix chamomile with my MJ to sweeten the pull and to soften
the coughing effect of the thc. Chamomile also has a calming,
soothing effect on the nerves, sort of a anti- anxiety herb. :2c:

chamomile is one of the most powerful and safest herbs around. it's anti-inflammatory properties are amazing (even more so in it's essential oil), and it is soo relaxing, great as a tea - soothing to the digestion as it is a mild digestive bitter and an antispasmodic as well.
come to think of it, vapirtoo, that antispasmodic property may even be what is counteracting the cough-eeness of the THC.
sounds like a good fit for vaping. make sure you use the flowering tops, as they are the part with the most azulene, one of the relaxing/anti-inflammatory chemical components in chamomile.

Damn I can't wait to get my LB...Vapir & Herbgirl thanks for the replies I think we should keep experimenting and keep this thread going. The original point of me vaporizing was that it was healthier as well as getting me high, but i am def. interested in adding flavor as well as a healthy edge to my vaping.

Luckily I live in nyc which has multiple chinatowns where they sell fresh roots/herbs.

I'm mad lazy and have been using chamomile straight out of
the celestial seasons tea bag. Don't know if its tops or what
in the bag. Guess I'll have to get off my ass and go to a real
(not MJ) herb store and do some shopping.

vapirtoo, you have to start somewhere! the teabags are the equivalent of shake and if you cannot find dried herbs they are a good alternative. it's probably tops with some leaf in it too, plus it's already the correct grind.
I have a great health food store around me that carries bulk dried herbs of all types, but i do order most of my herbs thru the internet because i go thru them so quickly.

I like http://www.bulkherbstore.com/

it's a small family run company - i dig that. great website with lots of helpful stuff too.
good prices, decent selection and fast shipping. i've been very pleased with the quality of the herbs i've bought from them.

I tried this tonight.

I mixed burmese cross, afgoo, chamomile, and peppermint herb. I felt less high, but more relaxed and less anxious than with bud alone.
