Discontinued Impcognito

Just bought a Cuboid Mini as a decent alternative to the hard-to-find Evic Vtwo... I personally am not opposed to the internal battery, though I know it's a dealbreaker for some.

The Cuboid Mini can still run Tubo FW, and is a bit smaller than the Vtwo mini I believe.

Very much looking forward to playing with my Imp :spliff:

Found a mod with DNA chip, side-by-side form factor, and removable battery.

Fits 23mm atomizers... I really like the TC on DNA chipsets, so I am debating getting this just to have the DNA TC option, as well as removable batteries.

edit:

here's another cheapo with internal battery

and

here's another DNA with removable 18650, half price of the XvoStick, but way uglier...

Here is a photo showing new coils versus my original untouched coils with a few months of fairly heavy use

I was just able to score a used XvoStick with DNA60 chip... Should be here before my Imp is. :D

Gonna have lots of testing to do, between new device and 3 mods to play with it on, but am quite excited to have the DNA TC available to me, while also having a removable battery and small form factor of the Imp

Will definitely be doing some fine-tuning when I get my device and will share my findings once I am settled in.

The monks do be debatin’
And for those who have both, would you recommend getting the Imp or the Impcognito?

is that wood dust? or kief?
I think it's coming from herbs dust/kief falling from the bowl and through the heater screen directly on the coil I hope it's not coil degradation and maybe cleaned easily.

Although I found very strange a so recent unit (Is it the last iteration of the Imp?) get a so dirty coil but maybe your usage rate is very high @antispleen ... I have to check mine, it's a OG beta test unit... just checked it and my coil is a lot more clean, just some dust on the deck but nothing I can see on the coil so I think it's related to an heavy used unit.

Sorry about that, cleaned off the weed dust and took another pic.

Please do share, that setup should make for a nice small package. I'm excited to hear the result using a DNA60 to power it.

Right now my IMP is small enough for my travel use on the P80. Still I'm excited see a manufacturer making something this small to fit more SBS mods. I never really liked the Witcher mod and the Movkin Disguiser so it's nice to see a device that will allow more options on SBS mods.

Just received the mod today, looks to be in good working order. Hooked it up to escribe and checked the serial # on evolvs website and looks like I am all good. I was a bit worried about buying used and ending up with a fake, but all clear... Really very happy with this score.

I see the Impcognito's posted on @mistvaporizer IG today and am now even more excited. They came out so sweet!

How is this rewired mod working for you? I picked up a clone and am waiting on a DNA60 chip to arrive so I can rewire myself.

Any chance of a link to the clone?
I really like the look, and sound of an Impcognito in that mod, but it's more than I can afford right now.
Like you, I'd be up for some DIY though :science:

Personally, I didn't find the DNA60 chip/UI to be that great. I didn't play around for super long, but it was a much bigger hassle than setting up FJ firmware on my cuboid mini.

You have to click around to change from watts to temp... and then TC doesn't seem to work as good on the DNA60s... It uses the max temperature you set as a "temp limit" and kinda just... bounces off that set temp., while the wattage fluctuates (and sometimes completely cuts off) just to maintain the set temp...

I'm just gonna sell that XvoStick and use the Aster RT as my side-by-side mod... The cuboid mini will be a good backup, and will see water use, since I got cruise mode on there...

I know everyone likes to circlejerk DNA because "it's the most accurate etc etc..." but I am not sure the accuracy/power translates from e-cig vaping to dry herb vaping as well. On another device, I found the TC from the DNA chip would eat way more battery than simple wattage mode... I don't think our use case is as simple as many have made it out to be (where DNA is the clear cut top dawg)

Regardless, I got my TINY TINY Imp yesterday, and have been very pleased (running tubo FW)

Heatup is super quick and the vapor is insanely smooth for how small the airpath/vaporpath is. I found TC to be pretty accurate after messing with the PID values some (I left my cold ohms, and TCR values alone - the coils that it came with looked pretty perfect so I didn't wanna do anything to em)

I had a small hiccup with my order, but I know @mistvaporizer had a sale going on when I ordered mine, and I did make like 3 separate orders so I understand completely. In addition he's taking good care of me and resolving my issue in a satisfactory way for the both of us.

Thanks for the fantastic feedback. I tend to agree with your assessment of the dna chip. I do think it's shortcomings will lead to a dry-herb specific chip. It's only a matter of time.

I picked the clone up on r/ecigclassifieds. The dna chip I ordered is this one: https://www.protovapor.com/product/evolv-dna-60-small-screen-retail-box/

This would be ideal - for what it's worth, on Tubo firmware leaving the stock ohms exactly as they were, I simply adjusted my PID values (and dropped max wattage to 35)

P = 825
I = 190
D = 10

and I have been very satisfied with the perceived accuracy of the temps.

The new Mistvape capsules also work VERY VERY well in my experience. I am getting pretty darn even roasting all the way through, and the fit of the capsules in the stems is A1.

@mistvaporizer I think knocked it out of the park with this one.

The fit/finish on all the parts of the Impcognito are very impressive for how small it is.

@muunch, sorry, I just left a reply on the Imp thread about the Aster RT running AF FW, but I see above that you're using tubo FW. Is that on your Aster RT?

I just got AF on the Aster thanks to your suggestion. I had no idea there was AF for the Aster... if only it got Tubo FW... :nod:

I hear you! I'm curious, what are your AF settings on the RT? Mine are TCR 150, P 250, I 30, but I'm still adjusting. I could be imagining it, but it seems like the Impcognito likes a lower TCR than the Imp (which I run at TCR 185), maybe because its screen is closer to the coils. (The Impcognito's bottom screen looks to be about 1/8" away from the top of the coils, vs. about 1/2" in the Imp.)

I left the PI settings stock tbh, and just bumped up my TCR to 180 (what it was pre-AF installation... and also what I use on Tubo firmware)

P = 1850

I = 300

Seems to be good for now but I will maybe have to play more.
