I know, it's supposed to be great...I just don't need it.
Maybe I'll get a used one from r/entexchange or something, if a good deal on one pops up or something one day down the road.
Might as well have one in my collection though, whether or not I use it, to go alongside my MFLB in the ol' medicine cabinet.
Ive got 2 one all wood beta(lifetime quarantee), and the later plastic 2.1. Trade ya for one of those BCG's!!! Ha!

yah, I almost bought one a few years back but I've got so many other options for on the go it seems silly to me now.

One man's silly is another man's mighty useful?

Mine sees a fair bit of duty, and replaced the home made one I used for years. First to run Purple Days, then modified to charge Solo, finally being used now to run my PA when I venture into the garden to keep an eye on nature. Nice to really be portable.

As a Canadian consumer I've run into a problem. Does anyone know a website that I could get BOTH batteries and a finishing grinder. I tend to use a grinder card on my rolling try to get it real fine, though it does make a bit of a mess and I have powder all over my tray.

The problem that I have is that the Canadian sellers I've found either have the batteries and have no grinder or "out of stock" or have the grinder with no batteries. I'll even make do with a nano grinder if thats my other option.

As always 420 in the 204!

Instead of the finishing grinder I use a small stainless steel mesh screened colander over a paper plate. I then place "the several bowls of powder" into a small pill like container. The pill container allows for additional drying over time and also is used to carry around and fill the LB. I'm talking very fine mesh and very fine powder.

Edit: Both Planet of the Vapes and Puff It Up have the batteries and finishing grinder and I think they deliver to Canada.

I really recommend the finishing grinder to improve the performance and the ease of use. I also grind the material at home and save it into a pill tube.
Not like the official batteries. I prefer some old kodak NiMH from an old camera flash, just peeled them and went to play. Compared to the official batts, they perform faster and gets hotter, but last a bit less.
But I'll insist on the grinder. It fits the needs of this device like a glove.

Sounds similar to the kind of performance I got from these. Overall, longterm, they have to be replaced twice as often as the Glyphs do. But they work great when they are still young.

I've still come to prefer the Glyphs though.

Yeah, but we can't just buy another when your old-ass caps out.

True enough, sure as the race goes to the swift, the next generation will take our places (much to their collective chagrin). It will be fun to watch, I'm not at all sure they will be as prepared for it as we were. Our parents, OTHO had their parents example to follow. A world where you'd better learn self reliance since nobody was going to hand anything to you. No 'safety nets'. You expected to work hard your 'working life' to get ahead.....if you were lucky enough to have the chance.

Such is life, I'm told. "The times, they are a'changing".

I ended up getting two sets of batteries and a finishing grinder from the mflb since the Canadian sites are discontinuing them from their shops.

My experience with the mflb is nice and taste wise has been the closest to the taste of combustion without vaping it dark. I use my LB as a maintenance piece, I'll use my vapman or dynavap as my morning/after work (depending on the day) dose but I'll micro dose with a full trench throughout the day.

Imo the LB is the best with microdosing as you only have to fill up up once and you're good to go.

Its too bad that MF didn't upgrade the design to accommodate a larger battery like an 18650 or even a
18350. Maybe too much trouble.

Itd be cool if they used the 18350 batteries that the davinci micro uses. Wouldnt compromise the size much either.

It would be reasonably thicker. 18350's are the same width as the standard 18650's many vapes use.

Though, it would be significantly easier to conceal in the hand in public with the shorter battery.

I understand the urge to improve the beloved Box, but don't get excited about changing battery types from NiMH to Li-ion. It's not happening here. The rules are against it. To do so you'd have to radically change the screen and trough.

MFLB is based on the idea there's about .75 Volts 'across the rails'. Of the original 1.25 or so the battery has half a Volt (give or take) is lost to internal resistance due to the 'out of spec' 15 Amps we demand. The original cell used was never designed for that level, when pressed the terminal voltage 'sags' just like the kitchen lights dim when the washer starts. The abnormal current demand of the starting motor causes 'voltage drops' through all the wiring in the house, circuit breakers, meter, feeder to the house, and power lines up to the local transformer up on some pole. In fact, in normal operation houses closer to the transformer 'see' higher than those further away. The power company sets up around what's called a "load center", some ideal customer mid way along the lines with everyone along the line getting more or less voltage than ideal. A compromise.

This, voltage loss is why the battery on MFLB gets hot as well as the screen. It heats about 2/3 as much as the screen does (in Watts) since 2/5 of the voltage is dropped there. That half a volt times the nominal 15 Amps means we're 'wasting' about 7.5 Watts delivering 11.25 Watts (give or take) to the screen welded between the rails that forms the trench.

Enter the humble box which now expects that .75 Volts (down from 1.25 nominal) but will now get much closer to 3.6 on average, and as high as 4 plus on full charge. Very little drop since the current levels are much less due to the higher voltage.

The size of the wire that makes up the trench, and it's length, determines that current (and therefore the power) as Ohm's Law specifies. To work correctly with the higher voltage we'd have to make each strand 3.6 over .75 times (four) times longer. A much bigger trench which is now weaker because of that extra unsupported width. The trench, which now has trouble dealing with our poking and prodding in use, would be all that much less able to cope.

Or we could make the cross section of the SS wires 1/4 what it is now, and therefore weaker for that way.

MF, through it's development, is 'married' to the battery type it uses. You can't simply go to a new type with more capacity, attractive as that is otherwise, without dealing with that very serious problem. Like adding electronics to convert the voltage to what the trench needs to survive.

No way around Ohm's Law........which is why it's a Law.

Nice dream, but reality is against it. Sorry. MF really 'knew their business' in this as I understand such things. That 'inferior' battery is really a top pick, the only one possible with the basic design. Li-ions simply won't work. They would combust the load immediately, get 'glowing hot' and most likely fail on first use.

So radically change the screen and trough!!!
That would cause the lifetime warranty on each MFLB to be altered, as there are many thousands out on the market.... and Magic Flight would have to drastically alter the style and the rods/screen setup to accommodate more power...... and still have to replace hundreds of original boxes as warranties get used.
It would leave them having to have a "double shop" to work with both kinds of box.
Cool to fantasize about, but in reality, very impractical.

Im saying a NEW model. Most vape companies, the ones that can survive, are constantly upgrading their stuff. The can keep their current model AND market a newer, maybe better, one. Think MFLB 2.0. Change can be good.
