What wattage (what what!) are you using @flammy ?

I am usually floating around 33.5 watts. I actually started at 50 and it was extremely uncomfortable due to the heat. Just started playing with settings and found my sweet spot. Sometimes, I will go up to 40 for the finishing hit.

I think you might need to also consider perfecting your technique and settings without running it through a water pipe first especially given the issues that you're experiencing. I usually find that using a wpa makes it a little tougher when first learning to use a new vape that has a learning curve. I hope this helps but as mentioned, I'm still new to the splinter. If I can think of anything else useful after more use, I will update.

Oops. It's early and I haven't had my coffee. I think I just merged a post by @Summer with a post by @cybrguy but I'm not sure. If so, apologies to both of you. I think this is how it should be:
Screw the coffee, I blame it on the drugs. No worries...
Perhaps there was a batch which runs relatively cool because i have to use 45Watt or a bit above to get good clouds and always wondered about the settings other users here talk about it.

On my square edge splinter which I have on an RX mod my behavior is most similar to @flammy , around the low 30s. I don't think I have ever needed to go over 40W...

What? There would be no motive for him to lie. And he said he wanted to know what the spot was before he used it for the 1st time, so it would seem logical that he recently received it. Unless someone is traveling for an extensive amount of time or is on a t-break or something else highly unusual, what vaper doesn't use their new vape as soon as possible.

@jarr92, when & where did you buy it from, & what wood is it?

It was purchased from puffitup during their pre 420 sale for $99 on 4/19/19. It is obviously the V2, and was sold as such on their site. I can take a picture of the receipt if people are going to say I’m lying. Bizarre, haha.

I’m just excited to use the thing and wanted to make sure the unit was all good while I wait a couple weeks for my box mod to ship from China.

Haha the lying thing was just me being sarcastic, obviously not the place for that so I apologize. You are definitely all good to use it, clearly it is not only the V1 that have the spot, but even on a V2 it is nothing to worry about. Whatever the reason we do know it is normal at least

I bought mine from PIU (same sale) a couple days before you. I do not have the spot on my screen but otherwise, my base and box labels appear IDENTICAL to yours.

I think you're fine...seemed like a simple misunderstanding.

Does anyone sell silicon end caps that would hold a load in place when leaving the house? How about plastic transport tubes to protect the stems when empty? Interested in these for both the standard and long XL8TR stem. I found "silicon blanking caps" with 18mm inside diameter online but not sure how well they would work out, if at all. I would have linked to Amazon but I think that is against forum rules (let me know if I just invented that in my mind). I did see the "groove tube" on VGoodiez but was hoping for better than that.

I LOVE little nugs in the stem, first tastiest hit... doesnt help with smell, but if you shove a little buddy in there, it holds just fine, after first toast, stir/crush voila!

The Arizer Air Stem Caps fit very well.

Please, folks, Imgur sucks and is broken here. I know, I'm a broken record...

Any other hoster works fine...

Just used imgur for the first time in awhile to post that, and noticed right away how it's gone so far down hill. Now the images aren't even showing up. What's the best host to use?

If you're handy, make your own from Oogoo, it's not too difficult.

So after much anticipation, my splinter V2 finally arrived today. I Love this thing!!
I have never used any RBT products or 510 mods vapes, so I'm totally a noob here. I've been playing with it a bit and I think I'm getting the hang of it. I'm using a GTRS VBoy 200W mod with a YIHI chip. My sweet spot is between 29-30watts. I have only used Watt mode as I can't seam to get TCR mode to work with this mod. I seem to get a hot spot in the center of the bowl, not sure if its the mod, too much wattage or my inhale technique. I have a Wismec Gen 3 on the way as this mod seems to be quite popular with the Splinter.

So far I'm really enjoying it!!

A big shout out to @AJS and others for all the useful tips and info :peace:

Thanks not a lot of YIHI mod users on here. In TC mode what happens? I heard YIHI has or had a protection feature in TC to stop dry hits. I wonder if it's causing some issues with dry usage?
Keep use posted on results with it.

To help with the hotspot, try drawing a little slower and letting off the button a little sooner, maybe even packing a little looser... Those are the variables basically

Yep airflow rate could be reason your getting a little hotspoting. RBT splinter already has some restriction in the draw that helps a lot with hot spots.

You could try using a finer mesh basket screens. They help slow down inhale rate a tad.

Mostly thou it's just becoming familiar with a new device and breath adjustment. That will come natural after a few uses. Just cause you can inhale faster doesn't mean you need to with the splinter

Correct, I get a no liquid fault when I try to use TC.
