So I got my Splinter Z and installed the sur_mevic firmware on my Reuleaux RX Gen3 Dual.

the Z seems to be reading at 0.37 ohms and I wanted to try out the TCR mode. I have it setup as:

370 degrees Fahrenheit
M1: 160
M2: 100
M3: 110
NI: TFR
TI: TFR
SS: TFR
PW: SS

AutoFi: On
ATime: Infinite

(I pulled this info off of reddit)... I tried to do some burnoffs but turning it on to activate will sometimes lead to "Check Atomizer" error. I have yet to try using any herb so I don't ruin anything.

Is there something I potentially set incorrectly?

-quick edit- I never let it run more than 20-30 seconds on TCR mode, and that's only if it didnt hit a Check Atomizer error

Has anyone ever modded a screen with a rim to fit more material? I forgot to order the baskets with no screen and would like to fit more bud in the stem.

Folks reporting the experience with splinterZ as too cool might be better off with using one of these material files instead. Load it from escribe material tab.

Warm.csv

Hot.csv

The warm material file made an immediate difference with mine, even with the cooling stem the vapor was a bit hot and the bowl vaped through to brown more quickly.

Does anyone make glass stems with a built in screen? Similar to ones Arizer uses? Pretty disappointed with the amount of material the screen bowls fit.

Replied to you in Splinter thread, but modpodlabs has glass screen in their StemPod cooling stem, and 420edc makes a style too (those definitely don't fit ZV1 though) both definitely will fit US Custom Z Splinters at least, not sure about 19/19 Chinese models... Oh and a piece of silicone around the bowl will allow you to use Arizer Solo stems btw

Is the depth of Modpodlab's joints 23 or 26mm? Better be sure before buying.

Yeah I just saw someone else using it, maybe @AJS? Also said this in the other thread, but the old RBT basket screens that fit inside the joint can hold more than the newer rimmed baskets

That StemPod cooling stem would be perfect if it fits. Sucks that I bought the cooling stem kit from vgoodiez already.

Where can I find the old screens?

Ask vgoodiez if they have any, or hunt down the other suppliers, particularly old suppliers. And/or make a post in the classifieds here asking for some... That's what I would do, gotta make it a project

Is the “rattle” normal. Something is moving around in there. I can hear it and feel it.
Just arrived.

Mine also makes a little noise if it shakes but I don't think it's something serious. Did you have any problems after that?

I'm really happy that he arrived safe and sound and I want to celebrate! :leaf:

First impressions of the nice friend Z.

I spent the last 20 minutes with the guy.

I understood some things. :D

First, because many are enthusiastic about the woody and wise entertainer.

It's a beast. At first it seemed to me to do little steam, then it was unleashed.

The taste is great, a little better than the Swift Pro.
(If Swiftie is my joint, Z is my bong)
The high is much more powerful and faster.
A nice slap.

The hit is very powerful, I coughed a little even with the cooling.

The only thing that worries me a bit is the cooling mouthpiece (xl8r) that doesn't look very stable and safe on the device.

Care must be taken.

Z it's a great trip.

Glad to make your acquaintance, mr Dark Side of the Moon. :)

Z is a great profile. An excellent vaporizer. Quality. I can see it right away. Feel it, especially ...

Yet for me it's a too strong high! Too much like "dead on the couch".
Maybe I'm not used to it anymore!

The Swift Pro high is more "energizing", euphoric... I don't know how to say.

After a session with the Z, all you want to do is ..... watching the wheels …

I'm so intrigued by this vape but I've never had a box mod and feel completely overwhelmed looking for one to use with the Splinter. Anyone care to give some advice. Thanks

@Summer and others

Why the high is so different from one device to another? They are both convection! Maybe wattage?
I used Z at 38W.

Maybe someone can shed some light on the Splinter Z profile for dna250c device that's posted in this thread. I just hooked up a Lost Vape Paranormal DNA250C to a Splinter Z Bubinga. Why is it that the preheat wattage is set to 65 Watts with a punch of 7 and the regular wattage is 55 when the manual only talks about a Max of 45 Watts? I realize that a punch of 7 means it won't get 65 watts but I can't find an exact scale for "punch". I don't get how preheat works since there isn't a time adjustment on Escribe. Do I hold the fire button ("firing") to preheat for a few seconds and then release and press again while drawing or is it all in one button press? My cut off is 10 seconds in Escribe so I imagine I should lengthen that so I don't have to re-press.

Also on the fcshare page it states to use an additional file if you have an older Splinter Z with a newer 19/19 stem. How do I tell if my stem is older stock or new?

Also I fucking love this thing.

I have the exact same combo and I'm using the FCshare Splinter_Z profile with the new coil material profile Herbie posted a couple days ago in this thread. I use the "hot" version and have set the temp of the Splinter_Z profile between 195°C and 200°C. I'm having pretty much instant clouds both on the cooling mouthpiece and on my bong adapter. I have only a very limited idea of all the settings and just found the above combination does it best for me: fast, big clouds, no combustion, no stirring. Not sure if this is helpful for you...

Every time I use this I get a different experience. Last night, using the same exact TC settings I was using before, I got a temp protect warning when trying to fire. I reduced the wattage and was able to get some thick hits but then also got some super thin ones. I switched to wattage mode and ended up with a serious hot spot. I think messing with box mods may be more than I’m interested in doing, even though when it works well the high is fantastic. The results are just too variable for my liking.
