Weird reactions to weed?

lazylathe

Almost there...
Excessive sweating on my head.

This happens to me when I consume herb.
When i grab a jar it starts... open the jar and it gets a bit worse and then sort of stops.
Grind up and load and take a hit and BAM! Sweating like a beast!
But only from my head, no other part of my body at all.
Happens almost every time I take a hit these days...

I have done some Googling around but have not come up with anything close to what happens to me.
Weed is actually supposed to lower your body temps and it makes my hands feel very cold.
Sweaty, wet head and cold, dry hands...

It used to happen strictly with Sativa strains but now any strain gets the water flowing.

This is my only negative when using my medicine, it won't kill me, it's just a bit bothersome at times.

Anyone else have any type of reaction that goes against the norm?

No sweats here, but I do feel I'm allergic to some degree, which is common with users. I get irritated puffiness happening on my lips sometimes when coming in contact with it my pieces. I do experience runny nose and running eyes and burning sensation through my nostril areas, but I kinda like burning feel and I attribute this to that terpene rush, who knows. I hope you can get this sorted.

We call those dab sweats. Could probably get it with a heavy hitter flower vape too. Not sure why they happen. I only get them when my tolerance is lower, at higher tolerance it doesn't really happen.

This happens to me with flowers as I do not use concentrates.
It does not happen with low quality herb, only the top shelf amazing herb.
Could just be a massive rush of terpenes that causes it.

Sounds like what happens when eating chile peppers - sweat confined mainly to the head. Looked that up, and it's called gustatory hyperhidrosis, which is a type of focal hyperhidrosis. Looked this up in combination with cannabis and turned up a few links to using cannabis to treat focal hyperhidrosis, including this site. Maybe it will further your own research.

Sweating generally accompanies lowering body temperatures, while shivering accompanies rising temperatures - common experiences when suffering from a fever. First we shiver, and then when the fever breaks, we sweat.

Along the lines of strange reactions - gave a friend who hadn't dabbed before a dab of terpy shatter. He immediately sneezed about 20 times in a row (which everyone found hilarious). He actually likes this reaction and seeks it out, so he was happy as well.

No wheezing or light headed feelings at all.

@Accept
Thank you!! This is what I was looking for!
A friend also sneezes and he hates it when it happens... My nose itches a lot with all the terps sometimes.
EDIT: Not quite what I was looking for but a good starting point!

Vaped flower is a concentrate. Flower vapor from a heavy hitter desktop can easily contain 60-70%+ THC just like a dab of shatter.

IMO the sweats are more related to a high THC rush than terpene related but not really sure.

Can you expand on that first sentence please?
I thought that once the resin was squashed out of the flower it became a concentrate.
To me this makes sense due to it's "concentrated" form, whereas of the flower it is individual heads being vaporized. Usually at a lower temp than concentrates require to perform the same function.

Or is it just semantics? Honest question, just wanting to understand.

How does that work? Highest THC flower I have seen is around 35% of which a fraction (significant fraction but fraction nonetheless) so how do we get vapor in 69-70%?

I think I’m just misunderstanding in some way.

It's somewhat semantics, but IMO relevant as I do believe the sweats are related to high THC content vapor. I believe it's related to THC and not terpenes as I've experienced the sweats in my peer group with essentially terpless THCA crystals.

But yes all vaped flower is concentrated - most of the weight of flowers is unvaporizable plant material which will become AVB, the vapor itself is concentrated cannabinoids as you are not consuming that entirety of plant material, which would otherwise dilute the potency.

You could test the same strain you experience this with a more gentle hitting vaporizer to see if it is the high THC punch.

It's because the majority weight of flower is not vaporizable, so the vapor is a concentrated form of cannabinoids.

The THC percentage is measuring in comparison to the weight of the sample - 1g of shatter is only higher in THC than 1g of flower because more unvaporizable plant material has been removed. The THC never gets stronger. That's why buying an extract based on THC% only guarantees purity and not necessarily perceived potency.

Say 1000mg (1 gram) of dried cannabis flowers has 300mg (30% of THC/A)
but 500mg of those flowers is unvaporizable plant material (soon-to-be-AVB), so the THC percentage in the vapor will be concentrated, and when vaping would be more like 300mg of THC in 500mg of material, as half of the sample weight never becomes vapor.

I know nothing about medical or science only what I’ve read. We release toxins through our sweat glands. Could the cannabis goodies be helping you get rid of toxins? Just thinking out loud. Also women get hot flashes due to hormones. Not sure if that works that way for men?
I get hot flashes that are brought on by various things like if the room is too hot or if I eat too much food that’s not healthy like chips and crackers. I get hot flashes in mainly the upper part of my body - head, chest area.:2c:

Totally. I've gotten them before with the SV3 & SH. BIG Bowls!!!

Bing!!! dat rush! Esp. while listening to some Geddy Lee. Womp womp!

Are you still using the SV4 as your DD ? A "flower dabber" vape. :freak: I think your answer is in your second sentence here, and Inverted's answers above.

I've seen you talk about this before. I had a "a-ha moment" when I first saw you talking about this awhile back. It's one of several reasons why I'd rather have flower over hydrocarbon extracts. Speaking of, I was dabbing some quality fire live rez last night at a buddy's. I ended up dabbing a gram + in a couple hours taste testing different strains. What a "hollow" feeling, haha. My eyes weren't red, but glossy and pinned out AF! It's like drinking an I.P.A. that's all hops & has no body to it whatsoever. There's only one thing I dig hydrocarbon extracts for...

Concentrate Sandwiches!!! Woo-Hoo!!! It gives me the red eyes!!!

The math works............ makes science type sounds in my brain.

I have a few odd reactions but nothing crazy...
If I touch flower then touch my nose or eyes I'll sneeze or get itchy eyes. Certain strains do this more than others it seems. The stuff I have now...I've been sneezing quite a bit. Runny nose, runny eyes. Usually not from consuming, but just from contact with the raw bud itself.

I definitely get dab sweats, but sounds like your reaction is a bit different.

its the TRPV1 ( trip V / transient receptor potential vanilloid one) type receptors... those are heat sensitive receptors that THC acts on and other cannabinoid type compounds ...
another thing, I found out about burdock root for the liver... try it and see if it helps clean your liver some. you can get it @ health food stores dried, or whole root form or pills made from it ETC... sweating usually relates to liver not working right.
cananbinoids too are working through LOX/ COX and effecting liver

My first thoughts point strongly to a mind/emotion-body connection/aspect here, psychosomatic in origin but obviously manifesting on the physical level.

Still it could be a lot worse- at least you only have to change your hat lol! :)

I’ve definitely had this from both dabs and flower (and dabs through flower) through the flowerpot and it’s always when I’ve inhaled a much bigger cloud than I thought I was inhaling.

Have always assumed this is some form of overload in whatever thc attaches to in order to produce its effects or as a side affect of your body/brain trying to get back to homeostasis (if that’s even the right word in this context) but then I’ve never had it from opening jars as that would suggest its more terp related and throws my stoned pseudoscience way off.

I should probably add I have hit a fair few dabs already today

Oh yes @lazylathe the point I did not emphasise, which is very telling here, is how you mentioned the sweating commences before you actually start to vape.

That is why I suggested it may have a mental/emotional/psychosomatic link.

I agree with what the others are saying, that this is just a typical direct physical effect of the thc/cannabinoids etc.

In that, this effect you experience yourself does originate on the physical causation level. And is now triggered in anticipation of vaping the herb. Its amazing how literally anything and everything bodily can be directly caused and held in place by mental and emotional states, patterns etc.

No better example than sweating from anxiety, for those who suffer this disorder. Not your case I know. I think maybe the intensity of the sweating, post vapor, may be amplified by psychological, psychosomatic factors.

More than plausible I would say, but I am sure I have experienced this effect and correlation before on the physical level alone. I dont vape herb or vapes anywhere near as potent as you do where these effects would be much more enhanced and apparent.

So it may well just be part of the parcel, but I wonder if some type of mind/body work or guided emotional therapy, hypnosis etc, might effect things.
Luckily it doesn't sound too serious to operate on just yet lol.
