Discontinued The Timber Elite by Vapwood

Happy 420 y'all , sure is a beautiful start to one here !

Performance of the Elite is phenomenal.

As mentioned , it worked out of the box for me , I've been using TC mode mostly , using all 3 trends , Elite cool , elite med, elite hot .

The Elite Cool & Elite Med are both very well calibrated . My peak wattage is perhaps high but not higher then the set wattage. My temp is always within 0 to 7 degrees average of what I'm set to . Yes I sometimes hit it right the fuck on ! . My hits (trigger time) are usually between 3.5 to 7 seconds , average roughly 4.5-5seconds. It's .00 precise , i sometimes hit 6.66seconds .

I suppose dropping ohms or boost or whatever else could lower the humph and I could take longer hits perhaps , or I guess I can always simply turn the temp down and sip longer. . As it is , I'm liking the fast response Resulting in quick effortless Massive hits with desired extraction , even roasting .

So far I've explored between 350degree to 420F . All quite accurate and calibrated , even when starting a session at 350 and ending in the 400's . visible vapor from first draws . Even short ones . I start drawing as I hit the trigger , no heater warm up time needed .

Indeed., Elite Hot is Hot! It sure is responsive indoors ! Still, I've had great success with it outdoors (cold in Canada! 5C today!) Elite Hot adds power without any added effort needed. Result in similar experience Elite Cool does under normal indoors settings.

I haven't played in escribe . I've had no need to. Perhaps in time I'll tweak a little see what it does but as is there is really no need for my needs anyways. It is just a few clicks away if I want to , it's that easy and convieniant. I doubt escribe is even needed for basics adjustments .

I've had abit of fun in watt mode . Gives more of a unregulated yet regulated feel to it while being able to ramp up power to cash in early if desired , without circle jerking in TC

Craftsmanship is impeccable, it feels as tough , reliable and durable as the LB Classic does.

Elite , what better word to describe it !

Happy, happy 420!
Time to relax, and enjoy the fruits of our *labor*. I am loving the shit out of my Elite. Regulation has added a phenomenal dimension to Lil' Bud. Harnessing the raw power of an 18650 battery, supplying that power to a monster coil system, while hovering a wood tube at just the right distance away that is full of potent flower, has turned out to be quite the winning formula. On a personal level this has been life changing, improving the quality of life via ease of use, aesthetic beauty, and unsurpassed function. Time to celebrate.

VENT HOLES
The best way to tell what vent hole set up works best is to try both, back and forth, back and forth, using a few different tube set ups. I did that on quite a few units, many, many times. I didn't guess at what worked best. There is a sweet spot, where resistance is just right, air flow is smooth, but there is a perfect pull, you can feel it happen. It's as if your breath can pull just the right amount of hot air to saturate the flower. With two 1/8 holes, cover one and see the difference. The grind and pack (flower puck) has just as much to do with this as the vent holes.

The three holes enter the chamber at 12 / 3 / 6 o'clock. I am considering adding a fourth hole to cover 9, but it doesn't seem to be functionally necessary, flow wise or *evenness* wise. I could do 2 coil vent holes on each side, plus the board vents (one each side). I will experiment with that for those who like symmetry. I can drop the size of the holes from 5/64 to 1/16 (barely visually perceptible) and that would bring us to our current vent total of 1/4" (on most units 2, 1/8"). I will experiment with that idea.

Awesome I knew you would love it. Mike did a excellent job of combining the DNA chip into the Lil buds body. The coil with the DNA power makes a perfect match.

Thank for the software thoughts. I sometimes get to much into the nuts and bolts with the DNA settings. I forget how well the Elites is working. Nice to hear everything is easy to use from the get go.

Happy 420

This one kinda sucks with having the Elite there really nothing that's now catching my eye this 420. I did grab a Imp recently for travel but home wise I'm stumped.

The four20 sale brings the bare bones Elite price to under $250 and is tempting. I don't need another but sure do want one..

Mines a prototype and it performs excellent. With the new faceplate and and the airflow changes coming in batch 3 I'll be following this batch closely and either get another in that batch. Or if it's full i'll grab batch 4 instead.

Aw fuck it I talked myself into it. I just put a downpayment on another one. It's a good sale and know I will regret not saving the few bucks later on.

I know, when I was looking at @P.A.M. collection I debated about posting a picture of mine. Not sure if proud or embarrassed by it lol.

Proud cause it's 10 years of collecting them and I love this hobby. Embarrassed over how many thousands I have wrapped up into this same hobby.

Honestly thou almost everything in mine has replaceable batteries and most get used on occasion. Guess it really doesn't bother me if some end up unused at times.

Collecting things is personal. I collect vaporizer but have a friend that spends thousands on shiny parts for his motorcycle. I think we both look at each other and say wtf dude... but both of us are happy with spending the money, so that all that matters I guess.

Damn... I have one little leather case with my DD Elite with lots ex DD's around someplace. At this point I also have an iheat, but that is it. That is pretty impressive. Reminds me of @Alan's collection. I had lots of vapes that I sold off over the years. I guess I'm not a collector, for me it's about having a great vape, and a back up, but with the Elite, I'm kind of willing to not have a back up.

Keeping my batch of 50 (Elites and Classics) moving along, I'm up to cover plates. Cover plates will be Cherry, Maple, and Walnut flush fitting. I'm going to perfect the process of the non-through side mounted cover plate. I'm filling my special Koa and Blend orders with this batch as well. Thanks for your patience. They are only available special order because I never know when I'll have stock for either. The Blend is figured walnut and figured maple, much nicer than I thought. This gave me the idea to use a Walnut switch box with a couple of figured maple Classics for a very sweet pairing.

I love the concept of a VapBar. I want one in my house. One of the things that having stock will do for me is allow me to expand. I'm going to work with Alan on a side project, and I'd like to create Vape Stations. I'm curious as to what there is a call for in that department. Personally, I like small and simple. I do have a few really cool ideas to enhance the whole experience.

I know it's 4/20 but I'm still in the shop. Brief break, then back at it for another few hours.

That is an awesome collection  one to be proud of for sure

I love the bar set up, I’ve been looking for an old school liquor cabinet armoire where the face folds down to be a table. Be perfect to convert into vape bar.

Lol neat diversified collection @HerbieVonVapster . Looking forward to watch as your future Elite gets built
and to hear your thoughts from one batch to the next almost lol .

I know my collection seems like I have a couple LB Classic too many but I would never part with my first , it came 1 day after my dog past , it's such a beautiful piece and flavourful Vape. The second was a gift therefor I cannot part with it. My third Classic, the cherry bomb, a cosmetic flawed, is my go to workhorse . I use it with water rig and jhook and the works, things I do not do with my other two Classics .

My Bamboo HI Log as a glass core heater cover for some tasty rips. I've had it a few years now. I got the iHeat to practice for the Elite when my turn came on Alan's list last August . I originally intended to get a Toasty Top when my turn came . One day hopefully.

The Elite , I'll probably never part with either . Reddy past around the same time my dog did last year. My Elite basically reminds me of them both . Sounds rather sappy to some im sure , but things as such is a big part of why I put more more pride in owing handcrafted Vapes over mass produced vapes. Builders have lives too. They go through shit , and build us vapes , I care about that. It's why I value transparency and customer service and communication so much in the people who build me vapes. How one treats his clients shows the passion for the herb and building vapes to make people happy first and foremost. buying handcrafted , to me , the experience is better and so is the vapor quality!

Happy 420 to you all! :leaf:

Thanks Mike!

The Cherry Classic dropped in the mail slot late Saturday afternoon.

As usual, another nice piece of handwork.

This ones for the wife as i am not letting go of the original maple Elite
that you sent out in the initial batch.

I played with the settings for a week or two but settled back to just using the
Watt 1, Watt Boost and Replay Modes. Haven't changed the Evolve firmware
to Franks theme and don't think i will as i plan on buying one of your Koa
Elites with the upgraded faceplate and firmware. but really i don't see that
playing with the electronics is gonna change the experience that i have had
and continue to have with the prototype as the stock Evolve firmware and your
heater were made for each other.

Also glad to see @HerbieVonVapster ,@muunch and others really putting the Elite
and Evolve firmware through its paces. It's very interesting and fun to read
their input.

Going to load a stem and give this a good read:
https://www.ecigssa.co.za/guide-to-fine-tuning-temp-control-vaping.t18206/

Still could use that Maple stem and glass inserts when you reup on those but
know your quite busy.

Please let me know about the Koa Elite as i don't see it shown on the
website but you mentioned them here.

The Elite is just that. No other portable vape out there can touch it.
The Tubo,Ghost MV1,Milaanas,Firewood,Mighty,Argo and a few others
just sit in a wooden cabinet. Time for a sale maybe ...

Regards and thanks again,

Steve P :sherlock:

Forgive me I I missed it,are there any water usage videos of the elite ?
Only reason would be interested in a portalep is if It had similar performance to flowerpot .with batteries seems like that would be challenging but this device seems strong so though I'd ask .happy 420! Almost a week with no thc, gonna take a fat dab of gmo 6 star later :)

My unit has gone DOA after two tries.

First impressions - wow what an amazing piece of wood work. I also really like the glass free female and the lack of expoxy. Wood front panel and buttons look and feel amazing. I could see the wood body marking up easy, and needing repolishing often to keep looking nice.

2nd stem i ordered was missing. 1st stem had a screen but was so loose it was not unusable, replaced with a dome screen.

Tried to fit it in my pocket, i struggled. This vape is fairly big, and not really jean pocket sized. Jacket pocket yes. I actually prefer the size of my splinter and paranormal. Seems smaller.

Fired her up the first time - temp protect. Same in every other profile. Power mode seemed to work okay but i was at like 28w without great amouts of vapor

I rescanned the resistance after the first try to seem if that helped. Seemed better this time. However after changing the battery it wont power on. Tried several batteries, all the same.

I reached out to Mike and he is sorting me out. I have decided to switch to a classic. - might suit me better.

Congratulations on your Elite @oddjobold .

As you mention, it sure is amazing woodwork ! Durable , no glass , glue, or insulating.
I wouldn't worry about
Marking them up easily , I've had Vapwood vapes for over a year now and they still look good as new . Have seen Falls, scrapes and everything . Beeswax or ed butter seems to work great on LB's as shared by other members . I rarelt beeswax mine, do from time to time. Otherwise if a light surface scratch I usually try polish in circle motion on my pants/knee and it does the trick . By hand polish it warms up the already applied wax and buffs things , enough for me.

The Elite is best suited to fit in jacket pockets, loose fitting jeans, some dress pants , Cargo style pants or shorts , sports coat or blazer , etc... I would not see myself bringing the Elite in tight or relaxed fitting jeans. I wouldn't feel comfortable sitting down with my iHeat and mod in my pockets , wonder if you remove your splinter before sitting or not .

The Temp protection and other DNA board issues you are having sound really odd. I wonder if your package was tossed around during shipping or something which could have shorted or damaged the board. @HerbieVonVapster , @muunch and I , all have batch 2 units and our units all seem perform similarly. Maybe troubleshoot with one of us (Herbie knows his stuff) ??.

I know you know your mod stuff too, and surely you seen how a few guys with experience with mods too are loving their Elite . Sorry you lucked out but I'm sure Mike will do his best to figure out what's wrong or replace your defective DNA board or Elite.. you would probably love the Classic if go that route. If willing , you should give the Elite another chance first. Thinking you'll love it once it's right

@oddjobold As per our email communication this morning, I felt it was already worked out. The tube wasn't left out by accident, I am back ordered (waiting on a monster tube order from Alan) and will get you a tube as soon as my shipment comes in. I apologize if I didn't notify you about running out. In all of my testing, I haven't had a dead unit. The performance, in general, has been quite good, as per my experience and quite a few reviews. Whatever the issue is, it will be identified and corrected. I agree with @P.A.M. , a little trouble shooting with one of us might get it operational right away. @HerbieVonVapster may chime in to help you out as well. As far as travel, the Elite isn't really a front jeans pocket vape. The Classic, I guess fits, but I don't want another wallet sized lump in my pocket. It actually is just about the size of a wallet. Works well with cargo pants.

Dimensions:
Elite: 70 mm wide, 96 mm tall, 29 mm thick
Classic: 58 mm wide, 96 tall, 29 mm thick

Major process improvement this morning. I am now able to use the router table to do the some of the major work of removing the waste from the underside of the plate versus doing it all by hand. I knew I had to improve this process, and just hit a home run with this upgrade.

First remove battery and hook up to USB power hit any button.

Edit... opps looks like you decided to try the classic instead. If you change your mind and need some assistance feel free to reach out. If not enjoy the classic :)

The possibility of different distance from coil if using something like 19/19 stems.( My rough guess is each additional 1mm distance from coil is roughly 5 degrees temperature difference).

What are the exact dimensions on the joint of the Elite?

Using a 19/19 stem now and I'm not sure if I'm just really baked, or it sits a bit higher than the stock tube... I think I'm getting different roasting, but I also just took a 2day tbreak so I'm a bit unsure :D

Okay i feel a bit stupid now.

Looks like you need to have the battery in positive side down (kinda upside down). So now i have the battery in the right way - i have power (funny that). Apologies to all - this was totally my stoned stupidity.

So now i have power i started to try and sort the other issue - temp protect. The elite was set at ohmns of 0.32. This would always give me the temp protect issue. If i rescanned i would get around 0.270 ohms. I could manually bring the omhs to 0.31 without temp protect kicking in. I found the vapor scratchy at 0.27, i am guessing because the recomended setting is 0.32 omhs.

So i have gone back to basics.

I went in to escribe,
  • Flashed the international latest software.
  • Flashed franks theme.
  • Loaded herbies "test profile" in all 6 slots except watts and watts boost (2 and 3).
  • Loaded the material files - warm & cool, removed all others except watts.
  • Set and locked ohms at 0.32.
I then did a dry run. Sucked air through the unit while firing. Temp protect issue is gone! I wont be able to test properly (i.e. with herb) until later - but will report back.

My preference would be to have flashed the unit back to the stock profiles, but could not see them loaded anywhere. @Bravesst could you share them with us? I am not sure i have the correct settings in the watts or watt boost profiles any more. I have also lost the lil bud elite logo.

Although i am good with mods, escribe pushes things to the next level. Slowly picking it up as i fiddle around more. Not really knowing what you are doing is a bit scary, just kept telling myself - its only software!

If the elite works now ill be happy to keep it. Lets see!

P.S. Maybe i spoke to soon regarding temp protect. I am still getting the odd message at 0.32 using material profile warm. But way better than before, has only happened once or twice.

No stucking at customs, but delivery from arriving airport took a week. Nevertheless, got this beauty in the mail on Saturday:

Sadly I'm so busy this days, could vape only three bowls up to now. Will write more after excessive testing, I hope this evening :D

Good morning!!!

I am super excited, the evolution of the cover plate. In @Alex3oe 's pic above, the cover plate steals the show. The process of building the cover plate has really been a big part of the evolution of the Elite. Until I nailed this down, I couldn't step into the DNA arena. I thought it was going to take a CNC machine, but I was wrong. It took some really good router / table saw / drill press, set ups and jigs. I would finalize with a very fine Japanese pull saw. Then, I realized, the carving / shaving of the under body might be easier on the router table vs hand saw. Holy shit was I right. The mounting *tabs*, which have been extended in length, now function to mount the chip to the plate, as well as the plate to the unit. They are no longer tabs at an inch or so in length, adding much under carriage support. The are more like mounting *rails*, a very unique part of the Elite. Today, I'll be hand finalizing 20 of those. I still need to clean up the screen hole, USB slot, button holes. The are all slightly wide, long, and are paired to a unit, mounted without the chip. Next, I finish sand the entire unit, in full pre-assembly, machining and shaping.

I'm really excited about building this next batch, with all these awesome features. The refinement of the cover plate process is one of the last upgrades that had to happen. The time and tedious labor saved here was paramount to maintaining the price point. I used to say that the cover plate is like building a second vape, and that is what really separates the Elite from the Classic (as least from a structural builder prospective). The Classic married the coil to the tube, the Elite married the Classic to the chip. Of course, the battery, much like the refrigerator in a kitchen renovation, or the proverbial elephant in the room, is half the vape, and needs to be hidden away in a pretty little compartment.

I'm absolutely stoked of the wooden buttons. They look, feel and perform so fantastic. To be honest, I didn't expect this. Great piece of handmade craftsmanship. Can't wait to play around with my Elite. After I'm back from in-laws...

The temp protect issue has not gone. The temp protect message is intermitant. Session 3. I tried in TC mode using profilles warm and cool. I could not get them to work in with 0.32 omhs because of temp protect. Lowered to 0.30 worked, but vapor really harsh. Had a coughing fit. Eventually got it too work in 0.32 - scrotched herb and harsh vapor.

I still think something is wrong.
