Following my recent post about the updated FF2 the manufacturer asked that we delete the message (s) until further notice. I did ask whether it was OK to post what I did and it was confirmed as being OK to do so, however I was now asked to remove them (thank you mods for doing this). Sorry to all.....
Understood and your early info is much appreciated!

So when one melts concentrate into the concentrate pad; how long is it good for? In other words, can you take it out, smoke some herb, put the pad back in and smoke more concentrate? I cannot see any in the pad at all. That's normal right? How do you know if the pad is spent?

It gets clogged, or dark/black, and gets harder and harder to draw through.

I'm pretty new to vapes. I have a Vaporgenie with which you use a lighter, preferably a butane lighter (less vapors than a disposable supposedly).

The times I've vaped rather than burn I always have trouble deciding when my herb is spent. I'm sure this is a common problem. If I was better at searching this site I'm pretty sure I could get advice on this. With my FF2 it doesn't take long - with the settings I'm using - for a load to turn brown. But, even though its brown, I can still break up some very small nuggets and they are still kind of sticky. The taste isn't as good with this stuff, and it seems difficult to get any visible vapor out of it. If I don't use this material though, vaping is not as economical as say, rolling a joint. A pin joint might last me 3 days or more not counting the tiny roach. If I just use the same amount in a FF2 bowl, it might only last for about 4 pulls before beginning to degrade.

It gets clogged, or dark/black, and gets harder and harder to draw through.
Thanks Mitchgo61.. that helps. I don't think I've used enough on this pad to see that result yet. But that gives me something to look for.

"Boasting easier air intake, a modest boost to battery life and a lower price than the Firefly 2 that came before it, the nearly identical-looking Firefly 2 Plus is hardly a dramatic jump forward for the brand."

Because the flavor is so good on the firefly 2, these improvements, especially the airflow improvement if substantial, would lead me to buy one.

@Brewervapesalot You got me my 500 likes trophy. Thanks.

Yes, it looks like they are in full swing now. The website has changed to advertise the +. I've signed up for updates.

I feel happy with the 2 for now but from my observations the plus will be more suited to me. I dislike stirring every draw but I enjoy the flavour it produces as a result. It says they have improved the battery life again and it seems like this battery will work with all models - just speculating at the mo and being careful as this is a delicate area. I actually came to fc to see if a ff+ thread had been started yet?

Edit - there is a thread for the ff2+ sorry some of this is irrelevant to this thread.

Got carried away with my alerts, getting carried away with VAS. This vaping thing was supposed to save me money on bud. I just spend what I save on new vapes. Oh well, at least I'm supporting our industry and having fun at the same time. Take care everyone.

And your lungs! I feel so much healthier vaping vs combusting.

@Majordude2626 thanks for sharing that! Local NYC shop got wind of the +, too. My FF2 is starting to age. Still love it but my lids aren't sealing 100% and I think it's due to the internal magnet of the unit. Tried throwing on a brand new white lid I had stored away and it performs slightly worse than the other two lids I've had since I got the unit three years ago. Would be great to update the on-demand vape for my arsenal.

Keen to try the FF2+. Liked my FF2s which were lightly modded. AFAIK Firefly was partiall acquired by another company which uses ZenDesk as customer support. Yuck. Still hope thongs go uphill!

I am wondering if all you need to get the FF2+ lower drawing resistance....is to just get the oven screen and put it in your FF2?

I’m very interested to see what the changes are. I love the taste you get from the FF2. This means I don’t mind that you have to spend time stirring the bowl pretty regularly and that you can only get 5 decent hits from a bowl. I like the process and find it relaxing. There are situations when I’m with friends or outside of my home that I would never choose the FF2.

My main issue is with the $30 battery. It just can’t handle more than one session. When the battery is brand new, it works a little better but not much. It still goes dead if you have it sitting off the charger for more than a couple of days. After using the battery for about 6 months, you are pretty much going to have to take that dock or an extra battery and the external battery charger with you everywhere you go. For this reason, it’s just not going to be appealing to a lot of users.

The Pax is much better in social situations. The bowl lasts a lot longer. You can get 15-20 decent hits out of a full oven. The battery life is amazing.

If the new Firefly can offer a better battery OR a lower price on the battery, the other cons that I’ve listed would be more tolerable.

Ohh, mitchgo61 where for art thou? Whatcha hearin'?
Maybe if we call his name three times? Mitchgo61! Mitchgo61! Mitchgo61!
You guys crack me up! Honestly I’m hearing pretty much the same thing you guys are....there’s a “plus” release coming with a few new key features. Some of this has been covered over in the new FF2+ thread.

http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/firefly-2-plus.37489/#post-1372878

I’m supposed to receive a unit within the next week, so hopefully once I get my hands on it I can share my thoughts.

But yes, saying my name three times makes me appear magically. Don’t tell my wife.

In case you own a FF2 and aren’t following the new 2 plus thread, looks like batteries are back in stock on their website.

Also, if you want to update your FF2, great news!
Just got this reply from Firefly support:

Thank you for reaching out to Firefly Support! We would love to assist you today and provide you with information regarding our upgrade service!

The upgrade program will cost a $30 service fee, with the additional cost of shipping both ways. We would need you to send your unit in to us so that we could upgrade it!

In order to upgrade the unit, we would be changing the devices restrictor plate, mouthpiece, and firmware. This will make your Firefly 2 behave, exactly like the Firefly 2 Plus! I would like to inform you however, at the current time we cannot make changes to the LED light or top lid, so your device would not receive the new LED logo light.

If you're interested in getting this done for your device, please give us a call at 206 418 6565 Monday-Friday 11amto 8pm EST!

Kindly,
Firefly Support

So this is some good news for those willing to send their units in for an upgrade.

Interesting! I really can’t see any difference in the mouthpieces...wonder why they swap it?

MP and restrictor plate have both been modified seems

I do not even use the plate/screen in the mp. no need for concentrates...and if you pull more gentle and have a larger grind.....you can keep particles down to a minimum....if you do budz in it.

The firmware.....does it really need to be only done by the manufacture? I would like to just by the screen separately as well...maybe a couple to have a spare.

Well.....at least I have the updated logo on the app now...bitchin! lol

If you send it in to get updated...it is a plus not to have that big ass "here I am vaping" beacon light. lol

I just did a chat with FF support and was surprised to learn there is no option for a discount to trade your old unit for a new one - just the update program. The fact that they will upgrade your existing unit for $30 is nice, but it does not affect warranty.

Support told me the heating element and airflow path would be replaced.

That means the new heating element has no warranty, if your existing warranty is expired.

Pay no mind to those voices in my head
So I installed the firmware update on my FF2, and lo and behold, the battery performance has improved. Before the update, I would get the red light syndrome on the second day after a full charge (once a day session, just before bedtime). Even though the battery would indicate it was still full, I would get red lights during heating. As others have reported, I could “power through” five or so red lights and get one final session. Since the firmware update, I have noticed that the battery indicator shows a steady decline in power level and that I can go 4 nights between charges.

Hey, that's good news. Mine did the update a couple of days ago when I opened the App. Now that you mention it, the FF2 does seem to be working differently and I was just thinking how long the battery has lasted this time. I'll have to try my second battery that wasn't lasting long at all and didn't hold a charge overnight. I'll post a reply after experimenting. ;)

I am thinking of getting this for reasons mainly the easier on the lungs draw. THis is my main complaint w the CF I have but i've had it for 5 years. I have to vape on first setting to relieve this issue even on 2 it gets harsh. It's partially my fault i cannot clean a some areas that have material that got stuck stained if you will, i think this is part of the cause as well. I had the orig FF and liked it but it was too big for my needs but i dont think i have much choice, I also like that it gives off no aroma although i expect the device itself will have one after some time. I like the cost saving benefit i do concur it uses less material. Is there any reason or is there another vape I should consider? I cannot get the water additions, I tried once and it didnt work out. I am in a closested situation so i need as little matter as possible, the CF is perfect in that sense. also when they ship it, is it in a plain box without their name and logo? I can think o the MFLB is a reasonable choice for my needs but i has one and after a time didn't like it so much, because of the batteries and quality. I am thinking of the new Davinci which has the size i like but if the quality is so much better I would go for the FF2+ especially with the discount
