Discontinued The Grasshopper

Since I originally owned a hopper, I have moved on to Dynavaps with an Induction Heater. It has been a great experience, and since I have had the IH and it makes using them so easy, I can say that I haven't used my mighty in months. I hate to say it, but there it is.

I thought about why I was never really motivated to use the Mighty as much anymore, and I realized that i just don't like session vapes anymore. After having the hard instant hits from the Hopper and the hard instant hits from my Omni's...I just didn't want to have a 10 minute session with my Mighty, I just wanted some nice hits every now and again.

So once again I have put in an order for a new Hopper hoping that it is going to be the perfect companion to my dynavaps.

I’ve also come to the same conclusion that session vapes just aren’t for me. I got an apollo a few weeks ago, and it’s great but I used it like 5 times and haven’t again since.

However around the same time I ordered a dynavap and now I have 3 of them and and induction heater on the way!

Dyna and hopper compliment each other well, it’s like an analog and digital versions although with an IH it’s more like digital and external digital lol

I have a number of Dynavaps as well, in fact I had too many of them and wasn't using half of them since I found ones I liked the best. So I sold some of those so I could pay for my new Hopper purchase. So far I'm happy with my choice, but then again the hopper hasn't show up yet (obviously) so I won't know if I made a good choice until then.

My hope is that I can roll around with the Dynavaps as a backup to the Hopper and then when I am home continue mainly using my dynavaps and my induction heater. The hopper will prevent me from having to take my fluxer everywhere with me. I can just take a lighter and my dynastash alongside the hopper and have everything I need.

I don't know how it happened since I started vaping with session vapes, but something about falling in love with the dynavaps just turned me off to the slower sessions. The Hopper I think is going to fill that void, provided it works as well as they are claiming the new ones do.

I think you’re gonna be happy! I always take my hopper and dynastash when I go out, that way if I run out of battery I have the dyna or if I run out of butane I have the hopper, plus with a lighter, obviously the hopper is easier to use when walking around or whatever.

Enjoy it, they make a great team!

That is exactly what I'm hoping to do! With the bonus of having lots of options when I get home. Glass, induction heaters, hopper, and dynavaps. Ah, thank you for making me feel better about my choice. The situation you just described is exactly what I was hoping to accomplish. :) Now I just have to wait for my shipping confirmation.

@mario good post, I am following your lead. I don't enjoy the VC as much as many, probably due to the conduction aspect. I do enjoy the "1 and done" nature of the GH, even as much as I have bashed their inconsistencies. I have ordered a new Ti hopper, and I am also grabbing a used Stainless model from the classifieds. Since GH offered the discount on batteries, I pre-ordered a bunch. I never received the stainless carry case, or the "oils" front end from the early days, but I still threw my last hat in the ring for the yet to be released charger. I am a sucker for the Hopper and its signature. All of the other convection vapes (Nomad excluded) that I have owned just never filled the gap left by my hopper(s). V5 or death!

I hope we both manage to get what we need out of this. I'll be pretty disappointed if it shows up with issues. But to quote Michael Scott "I'm ready to be hurt again."

I want to order the battery charger so badly, but I think I am going to wait until it is real since people have been waiting for that one for a while. I think I can survive on the one battery until they show up on the site again, like I said this is meant to compliment my DV's so I don't think I'll be burning through batteries all day. And there is the charger and I have an external battery charger that I keep in my car, so there shouldn't be any issues there anyways.

Hopper bubbler released today. It looks like it requires PFE. $75.00

Un-f’ing-believable...I know it’s just a glass item but it’s incredible that hopper labs keeps coming out with accessories (which they don’t deliver on anyways) when they should be focused on their bread and butter, the grasshopper unit itself.

And they want to charge 75$ just because it’s made for the PFE? I hope no one is gullible enough to give these guys anymore money so that they can keep stringing people along.

To Hopper labs, wake the f up. You guys think you’ve created the Apple equivalent of a vaporizer but really its a cheap ass PC.

No kidding. Touché! Their priorities are all screwed up. Fix and stabilize the vape, significantly reduce RMA backlog in which my Ti sits, figure out your supply chain issues most notably batteries - and then think about more accessories after things are stable (or profitable). Sheesh. But he gist is that they’re ass backwards in most conceivable ways. :peace:

Agreed, but I take a more 'global view' of the business model. Starting with a series of prototypes to get performance to their liking. Followed by a Pilot run, say a couple dozen units built to drawings and assembled and tested by Engineering types with the parts delivered. Then Beta Testing followed by any changes made. Then perhaps another Pilot run before release to Production under supervision of Engineering. Then, finally, a Production release. Units for sale.

Manufacturing has it's own drills and challenges, too, of course. But they should have a package of documentation, tooling, and fixtures such that 'most anybody' can make units (includes test procedures, QA specs, DMIs and so on). No fair needing Engineering support, let alone a specific guy.

That's the way I was taught. Not starting out claiming battery performance that could never be. All sorts of pitfalls await newbies that don't follow the traditional process. Not that it can't come out a winner, but the chances are much, much smaller.

In another perspective, it's just not there yet. But, as has been pointed out, the burden of Warranty issues has crashed many an otherwise good effort. Hopefully there's still time for HL.

Weekend regards to all.

Made for the PFE? What BS! Its a 14mm joint....as is the PFE...and LOTS of other stuff.

$75, I would bet you very large money that this is Chinese glass, and you can get a 14mm, Mobius Ion knockoff from Stevenlmz79 and others on DHGate for about $35.

Hopper Labs continues to insult my intelligence.

Most "cheap" glass is imported from China. Also most other vape companies/sites offer DHgate pieces at retail pricing(vapefiend, namaste, sneakypete, pretty much anyone and everyone). You buy at wholesale(low) and sell at retail(high), standard retail practice.

New Vape for example - https://www.newvape.com/18mm-female-rig-large-base
Yeah, well NV ain't blowing smoke up your ass and telling you that the stereo matrix knockoff was made for the Flower Pot. See what I'm saying?

I have no problem with a company making a profit. They had the outlay of money and stocked the item here in the USA reducing risk and wait time compared to ordering from DHGate.

I do have an issue with them presenting this piece of glass as if its something made for the "oooh, PFE on the GH" as if it has some sort of special sauce.

Also, I think them marking it up to $75 is a bit too much. Just my opinion.

a $15 mark up for the logo is steep.

Where did $15 come from....I believe @elykpeace posted that in rather modest qtys, this piece can be had for $24 or less? HL wants $75?

Its not really a big deal and the price that they want isn't really getting my dander up. I mean, people (me?) are willing to pay for convenience, CC safety, and risk reduction.

I'm just so sensitized to Hopper bullshitting us time after time, year after year, that when they come out with this marketing BS of "made for the PFE" I do tend to overreact.

Cheers

It's sunday, don't let HL stress you out dude, not good for your health which is most important. It's just a piece of glass, the extra 15$ they're charging compared to competitors with branding will hopefully go towards hiring another staff to help get warranties and everything else back up and running faster.

"made for PFE" maybe they sourced tight fitting 14mm joints. Some of my pieces from china have varying joint tolerances and air leaks mess up function. Nobody's tried one yet(@slcbdco ?), so we'll see how she rips.

Not sure how it is in the States but here in Canada most(if not all) glass in headshops is overpriced north american/euro branded chinese manufactured glass that sell for hundreds. If you want anything locally made, it's through the artist direct.

I don't really care man, life's too short to bitch and complain. I want HL to succeed, the Grasshopper is the best portable I've ever used and it's gotten me through plenty of hard times. Therefore I will continue to support them.

I want HL to succeed as in their product to succeed, not necessarily the people running the show. After they royally shit the bed time and time again, it’s time for them to move on or sell their business to someone else who can run with it. If S&B can get bought out, grasshopper should follow suit.

S+B is a proper company with reliable products, working QC and pretty much legendary CS. Hopper Labs are a couple nerds in love with their product trying to cope with shit and barely getting the engineering part done. I wonder if that would attract investors.
