Tek MCT oil (medium-chain triglycerides)

If I were going to use it, I would use it for edibles if for some reason butter or olive oil were inappropriate.

Works well for edibles - for when you want an oil that's liquid at room temperature.

Also using it for calories lately. Avoiding grains for gout. Feel more focused, like the brain's a few years younger.

For edibles, MCT oil with lauric acid might be better. Some claim that most MCT oil is a byproduct of purifying lauric acid, which they also claim is more desirable than the smaller chain trigycerides. For vaping, there are earlier posts discussing whether the smaller chain triglycerides are preferable.

Wondering why ppl are using mct oil instead of a pure terpene liquidate. Like 'viscosity' from true terps, or terp cut on eBay from terpene foundry. Perfumers apprentice has one too. Derived from olives. All these mentioned are for bho/co2 distillate/ethanol extracted. There are more too. Some for liquidizing crystalline cannabonids like CBD isolate.., but will also work with other concentrates. I have developed a liquidizer very similar to Tec temper, for isolate..mine cost just a small fraction of the price. It works great too. Pure flavorless terpene liqiudizers can work better and possibly safer than mct.

So what's your secret for a cheaper alternative to Tec Temper? Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks!

While MCT is outdated tek for smoking, we use straight Sauce carts now, and at bare minimum, we are adding terps to distillate. Don't vape MCT, BUT it is a great carrier for edibles!
I use a drop down and get a good amount of reclaim every month. I mix with a little bit of "Clear coconut oil" high in MCT and capsule it up at about 8-10 capsules per gram depending on desired strength.
I assume at least 60-70% actives actually left in the reclaim, but lab testing (and my personal testing) shows that Super Decarboxylated concentrates, or "Reclaim" Is extremely high in CBD and CBDA while have a shit load of activated THC present. Mixed with a little bit of this oil, throw it in a capsule, and these are the most therapeutic edibles I have tried and are so easy to make, keep, and share.

Lots of different brands, I usually just buy mine at Whole Foods.

I'm extremely interested to know your recipe and method. If you don't mind sharing that is. ShatterBatter is too expensive and I'd like to avoid adding flavor if possible.
Your using shatter batter with isolate?

No I don't. I was curious what your recipe is since they both seemed rather expensive. I like DIY and if I can recreate a liquidizer or make a close approximation then I'll do it. The cost of living is never going down! =)

So, I have a gram of powdered CBDelicious pure CBD isolate.
Do I :
A: Vaping: grab some MCT at Whole Foods and add all 1000mg of isolate. Maybe throw that in a beaker in a ultrasonic cleaner with hot water on the outside?
B: Same, with PG/VG or just one of them?

C: just make a VG tincture with some lecithin?
D: Better idea?

I have some CBD isolate powder that I occasionally use two different ways:
1. Straight up-- in any vape that has a SS concentrate pad for the chamber, you
first heat the SS conc pad, then sprinkle on a little CBD powder which melts right in.
Then vape until no more CBD vapor. This could be 5 hits over 5 sessions or whatever.
A little CBD isolate powder puts out a good amount of vapor.

2. Similar to #1 but you preload chamber with actual flower, pre-heat the flower,
and then sprinkle/melt in the CBD. This can help balance out THC rich bud (most strains).

I believe vaping MCT oil is not healthy. Great for making medibles with, great carrier for
ingestion but NOT for vaping it.

I just decarbed 3.5 grams of pressed resin and 3.5 grams of co2 oil (total: 7 gm) and, while still warm, added enough MCT oil to make 2 ounces. Time to titrate. I filled my empty graduated flask and added milk and liquid chocolate to make a hot chocolate with the remains of the solution. I also put two drops under the tongue. I'm feeling great at the moment. It usually takes a lot to make me feel it.

Given the variables and unknowns, I wonder what’s wrong with infusing butter with cannabis?
I mean it seriously: I see coconut oil and MCT and such, what is it about those methods that are superior to either vaping (flower/concentrates) or eating (butter)?

no needling anyone, would like to know the perceived benefit

Coconut oil has more fat per tablespoon. Than butter so more thc is infused than butter for the same volume of liquid.

Coconut oil the highest absorption rate of the cannabinoids, so that your concentrate or flowers is going to bind more willingly to the coco, / I suppose mct have the same benefit since most of that stuff is indeed coco derived aswell?,

i dont think it should be held up against vaping, use it in combination for the best experience imo,
I Like to eat infused coconutoil before dabbing,

Hi,

Made my first liquid with C8 MCT recently.

THC distillate about 2:1 (distillate:C8) with C8 MCT in a drizzle tank with ceramic 1.3ohm coil.

Trying to move away from PEG400 and first impressions are good. I find distillate pure or almost pure so hard in the cart and for me at least lasts longer as go though less THC.

I vape at 5w and draw softly with air vent mostly open.

Seems lots of confusing information on C8. Do most not use anymore?

To see if I understand:

- coconut oil highest absorption rate of cannabinoids?
- concentrate/flowers “bind more willingly” to MCT/coconut oil?
- ‘benefits’ of MCT and coconut oil are interchangeable?

Does this mean coconut oil absorbs cannabinoids faster than butter, or the body absorbs cannabinoids more efficiently from MCT/coconut oil? BETTER than butter? Digests more fully/thoroughly/efficiently than butter or other oils? Delivers more cannabinoids because it’s sticker?

MCT and coconut oil are not the same, metabolically. I know of no studies that show any of what you’re saying on that front - in fact MCT is extracted because using IT is *not* the same as just using coconut oil.

Cannabinoids/resin/etc are FAT-soluble, I would love to see studies showing they are *more* soluble in coconut oil and leave LESS in the plant material than a similar volume of butter, or any other dietary fat - or that it digests more thoroughly than other dietary fats, butter specifically.

This would be so easy to study - surely someone has done so?

The logic of your statement requires demonstration that a given mass of weed would leave MORE cannabinoids per gram of fat in the coconut than in the same amount of butter...and that the extracted herb from the butter held MORE cannabinoids after the fact than the herb extracted in the coconut did.

Take it with a grain of salt my knowledge on this is sourced from trail and error, and also bubbleman talked about the absorption rate on a video long time ago, i kinda trusted that information as i made my own assumptions through trail and error.

The reason i think mct oil is coco derived is because of the first few pages i checked on amazon for mct oils were all seemingly coconut derived?
I would also like to know more about mct oil if anyone here want to spill some knowledge :-D

edit : lol i am so i high i had no idea i was in the mct thread asking to know more about mct hah

I know...probably the secret in the TEC temper receipe...are only the kind and quantity of terpenes mixed
Says antioxidants..Idk really. I've used tri ec before with isolate. Works great. The perfumers apprentice/flavor apprentice sells it as a dilutant...and i think terp TEC by the terpene foundry is tri ec too. The MSDS for tri ec and TEC temper are almost exact as i remember. I haven't compared the MSDS of terp TEC yet, but its an isolate liquidizer with TEC in the name. I used 2-3 drops of mj terps to flavor/effect isolate. You can get about .7g isolate dissolved in .3g tri ec, if I remember right...maybe .6g isolate...its been a few months.

Yes... T.E.C is obviously Tri Ethyl Citrate clearly an acronym
