Water curing AVB

Thanks, Squiby. That's what I assumed but I've read that some folks decarb, too.

I did about 7 cycles of a moderately warm water wash with a french press in my last batch of abv for coconut oil. You can't taste the abv at all, and zero gastric issues.

I recently made bubble hash from ABV, and it turned out well, except for that toasty ABV flavor. Next time I water cure for sure !

My water cure went well I soaked it overnight and then used a sieve to rinse it a few times, squeezed out the water and then spread it all out on a plate to dry.

I'm not really sure what to do with it now, although the plant material was not burned it was still heated to the point where it became blackened and I feel that indicates that there may be some harmful chemicals in there?

Then again it's probably no worse than eating a little bit of burnt toast?

By the time I finally got around to making my oil I had another mason jar full of AVB so I water cured that for a week. Long story short, I finally got around to making it this weekend. I added the AVB to two large mason jars, poured in my melted coconut oil. I put an old washcloth in the bottom of my crockpot and placed the jars in and added water up to the level of the oil in the jars. A couple hours on low heat, the temp stabilized around 130*F. I turned it up, the temp stabilized around 160*F. Roughly 20 hours, filtered through a couple Cuisinart fine mesh strainers. Some small bits made it into my oil but overall it looks pretty good.

3 or 3 1/2 mason jars of AVB, I can't really remember. I thought I wrote it down somewhere but I can't find it. 4 1/2 cups of finished oil. I spread a teaspoonful on a muffin. It tastes...not great but edible. Can't really expect a teaspoon of oil to taste too good, though. It should be better cooked into something. I'm hoping for some relaxing, sedating effects. I'll find out soon.

Thanks @His_Highness! I fell asleep pretty quick last night. Not sure if it was the oil or if I was just tired. More experimenting tonight!

I've got another mason jar that's nearly full of AVB. I'm thinking I'll water cure it for a week and then infuse it into this oil, another round in the crock pot. The oil will absorb more from the additional AVB, right? Anyone ever try this? Thanks.

Yup. Done it many times. You will have more in your ABV than you expect. I like water curing, and recommend it if you want to greatly lessen flavor and smell. Only thing is, and entire mason jar is a lot to use. How much oil will you be using?

I want to infuse it into the oil in the picture a few posts earlier. Sorry if I wasn't clear, I'm off work, hanging around home, getting a few things done. In other words, vaping a lot.

It will be really, really strong. I wouldn't use a lot of the oil at once until you test smaller amounts. I'd hate for you to have a bad experience. Let us know how it goes. It's always exciting to hear about.

I still haven't used my special 'low calorie black flour'
Guess I'll just save it for the zombie apocalypse...assuming there's a cannabis shortage at the time.

Thanks, M-G. Strong is fine, just need to be careful with dosing. I'd like to end up with some good night time sleepy meds. I'll keep you posted.

But seriously, i've done plenty of water curing before vaping (bud washing as well) with great results. I believe it would be a giant mess with ABV.

Why would it be a “giant mess”

I water cured my ABV for my most recent batch of tincture, and I liked the way it turned out. It mostly eliminated the unpleasant flavor and aroma and was much lighter in color. I picked up a French press and let the ABV steep in it in distilled water for a few days, draining it periodically. Then dried the cured ABV in the oven at low heat. Seems worth repeating.

I've done this before, similar method. Made my resulting coconut oil taste a fuck of a lot nicer.
