@ataxian You have said numerous times that the Solo helps you read.

Does cannabis improve reading retention or make it worse?

Good question. OTOH I understand it tends to stop his lips from moving, which many consider a useful improvement.

FWIW I strongly suspect it improves his enjoyment, the only measure that really counts? I'm afraid we can expect future generations to read less and less in the traditional sense. If it doesn't fit in a cellphone it's going to get passed by. Or a comic book?

I was reading the other day that it's now possible to graduate from Yale with a real degree in English without ever reading any Shakespeare....... The schools get richer, and the students happier with the experience and the results decline as the standards fall. Not likely to take us to a better place.

Go @ataxian! Bravo!

When we surfed HUGE WAVES in HAWAII I read every night!
SATIVA was my friend.

These daze I have more time to READ.
Right now most of my books are FRENCH.

The SOLO is my friend for this activity!

We all are different & have a different POV?

Some like RASTA?
Some like BLACK TEE-SHIRT’S?

Some like to READ?
Some like to veg out?

Can’t we just get along?

My take for how I see it?

A lot of medical research on cannabis that has shown results is in reducing muscle spasticity. I wonder if a person with ataxia (just as a guess) might have an easier time reading if his eyes are moving more smoothly.

One large issue that might be a problem someday gets to book reading. I am a voracious reader and still read a lot of books. But, with so much on the internet, I seem to do more and more reading there. I wonder how the short-focus reading of today will change abilities from those who read long-focus things in the past. If you only have to focus for 15 minutes or so in 90% of your reading, will frustration result if something takes more time? How will that affect...things?

It does seem odd one can study English without reading Shakespeare. Wait until you can get a degree in Engineering without math. (As it is a tool of white male patriarchy and teaching it perpetuates white privilege.)

Not to take it too far off topic but speaking of reading fading out of out youth's picture... it was just announced that our high school seniors in out local school system can now graduate from high school, even if they can't pass the state proficiency exam. They can do hours of community service (picking up trash on the streets) and it applies towards their high school credits.

Unbelievable.

In out best school, 3 out of 10 graduating seniors could not read or write at a high school level. In our worst school, 7 out of 10 seniors could not read or write.

So, our city petitioned the state to lower the tests and they wouldn't. They said all the other cities passed and, we're just fucking too stupid. LOL So, the city school system got a HB bill passed to allow 'community service' to count towards high school graduation. LMAO

So, now, instead of learning to read or write, they can pick up trash and graduate.

I weep for the future.

OK... on topic question. I am dying to take advantage of the BYGO on Arizer.com. I have a Solo 1. Is the Solo 2 worth the upgrade? I have an ArGo so I would get the Air free.

I've tested the Solo 2 for about a week and ended up buying a second Solo 1. I liked the vapor a tiny bit more with the Solo 1 and the extra battery life, etc... of the Solo 2 wasn't enough for me to justify the additional cost.

I weep for the future.

my nieces oldest kid failed the 8th grade, repeated that grade and received an incomplete but was moved on up to high school and the 9th grade. After that he totally gave up on school, attending less than 90 days in each of his years in high school so every grade was Incomplete. . . come time for his graduation and I was truly dumbfounded when they handed him a diploma that said he "successfully completed the necessary course of study and academic achievement".

It is time to weep for our nations future.

Yep, "Social Promotion" they used to call it. Can't have self esteem suffer just because they don't learn for whatever reason. The next result, as you point out, is dropping out since they are truly lost. Or the school simply takes their money. When I taught we got State money for two 'census days' per quarter. A couple hundred dollars per filled chair on those two days. The push was on to keep failing students on the rolls that long, sad as that is. Prospective employers can no longer trust 'the sheepskin' at face value, it's become more of a social thing?

Fortunately, our Ataxian is above all that. Not so for the young?

It is time to weep for our nations future.

Amen. How does that saying about not learning from the past go? Just as Eisenhower and Patton predicted we now have Holocaust Deniers.......

Solo, however, will give you courage for the new day. Sip slowly and savor the experience.

“The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers.”

Recently I had someone in their late-30's who is still living with their parents say "I just don't understand why my parents didn't achieve anything near what their brothers and sisters did". The sadness and accusatory tone amazed me. When I asked if her kids might wonder the same thing she said "Everyone knows my generation will be the first not to do as well as their parents".

Ok then.....if you're the last to leave please turn off the lights.......but please charge the Solo first.

@ataxian Since you read French books, while using your Solo you might enjoy Théophile Gautier's La pipe d'opium, [English translation The Opium Pipe] a short fantastic novel from the mid 19th century. I learned not so long ago that so called opium pipes were in fact... vaporizers! Bonne lecture, bonne santé et longue vie au Solo.
My 22 year old with get her masters in FRANCE.

AMERICAN DREAM is gone!

SOLO in FRANCE?

I knew that would get you in you childhood..........fiberglass pools pop out of the ground when drained...........good times.

I was thinking of draining the pool as well. But couldn't make up my mind if that should make for more places for the homeless to pitch their tents, or a place to put the garbage for a while?
