Glenn Beck's fake tears - watch this video

I just love it when John Stewart just picks him apart. Too funny, but what's kinda scary is people really believe in this guy. Fuck, did you see how many peeps were at his rally. He pulled in almost a 100,000.

What a spineless piece of shit he is... is Beck simply an idiot that people believe, or is he a genius with an agenda who puts on the idiocy as a charade? My bet rests on 'fundy'.

Beck is definitely not an idiot and I agree with a lot of his positions and opinions and observations. He also makes alot of predictions that never come true. But sometimes they do.
I guess if you throw enough shit at the wall..
I miss William F Buckley - he was the real conservative deal.

I am ashamed and devastated by the stupidity of the average American who takes charlatans like Beck seriously. Mosque you say? I say Moskowitz! :p

Glenn Beck says what he has to to be shocking and get good ratings from his target audience. Sure he says some things I might agree with but his reasoning is always ludicrous. It's funny when he gets down with the libertarians and Alex Jones guys, mostly because the "Obama Deception" rings true with Bible banging Republicans and anti fedralist leftists . He didn't say shit when Bush was the face on the american empire. Point is, he's a tool, like every other public figure in the mainstream media.

This is all making Beck a very wealthy man. The guy is NOT an idiot. Idiots don't pull in the crowds that he's pulling in or get the ratings that his TV show and radio show pulls in, nor do they sell the quantity of books that he sells. While I also may agree with "some" of the things he may say, one still needs to pull back the curtains to see the the wizard here.

He's doing nothing but pandering to the religious right and now, after all of his political diatribes, he is now trying to step into the shoes of Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and James Dobson for America can't truly be America unless it is returned to the righteousness of those that believe that God is the answer and that without the blessings of God, we are doomed. (Hmmmm...........sound familiar?)

It isn't hard to agree with some of what Beck says. I agree with some of what Louis Farakhan says and does. But when you look at the totality you realize there are others saying those same good things and none of the crazy, divisive shit.

All Beck cares about is making money for Beck. Check out his Forbes interview.

http://www.forbes.com/forbes/2010/0426/entertainment-fox-news-simon-schuster-glenn-beck-inc.html

With a deadpan, Beck insists that he is not political: "I could give a flying crap about the political process." Making money, on the other hand, is to be taken very seriously, and controversy is its own coinage. "We're an entertainment company," Beck says. He has managed to monetize virtually everything that comes out of his mouth. He gets $13 million a year from print (books plus the ten-issue-a-year magazine Fusion). Radio brings in $10 million. Digital (including a newsletter, the ad-supported Glennbeck.com and merchandise) pulls in $4 million. Speaking and events are good for $3 million and television for $2 million.

What's scary are those that believe he is sincere. Those that believe the county's problems began in late January 2009. Those who cynically, and unreasonably ask "how's that change working out for you," as if less than two years is more than enough time to fix the many problems, some of which were decades in the making. Those that believe their fellow Americans, who disagree with them politically, are their enemies.

But, hopefully he is just preaching to the choir and making very few converts.

Yes the scary part is how these conservative and liberal pundits are being used by media conglomerates, and the CIA, which manipulates all our mainstream media in order to further divide our country. The sooner we stop fighting each other and start fighting poverty, materialism and corporate greed the better chance we may have of making it though these times without violent revolution in the streets.

It's divide and conquer. It's divided we fall. In the sixties there was polarization - the straight world versus the hip world - but it was not a ball of confusion, the polarity was clear and defined
and people were together and that was very dangerous.
now, forty years later, it's like nobody knows what is real on any level anymore and maybe everyone is being lied to in all directions by every pundit and politician.
that said, i generally don't agree with alot of what keith olberman says but i don't think he's lying.

we live in interesting times.

*edit*

one thing i remember about the sixties was how TV was considered "very uncool." It was not cool to own a tv. remember?

Nope. I always thought it was cool to own a good TV although my Dad was the last one on our block to get a color one.

As Niel Simon once said, "Television is called a medium because it is neither rare or well done". Or was it Ernie Kovaks who said that?

My take on the popularity of Palin, Glenn Beck and the Tea Party... A certain segment of America's white population can't stomach the idea of having a black president -- any black president!

I'm afraid the reason for America's current stupidity craze is plain old bigotry.

I don't know about the bigotry aspect - lots of whites voted for Obama enthusiastically.
OTOH, if Flavor Flav was president, I would really like it, but maybe this would upset alot of people.

The tea party movement has been sabotaged by certain counter intelligence agencies via the media. By Slapping Palin's idiot face on it and having Glenn Beck as the spokesperson a large portion of America dismisses it right away like you have above. The rest of the people to join have been blinded by the christian power structure and are incredibly ignorant to any of the real issues at hand.

Many intelligent people are down with the tea party and simply want to see a more fiscally conservative approach to our spending. In the beginning their main beef was the massive bailout of wall street and many private corporations. The entire movement has been hijacked though and now it's the new face of the religious right..

The reason for America's "current stupidity" is not simply bigotry it is lack of good information. In my experience people are usually good. More often than not a "bigot" is simply ignorant. This lack of proper information to make informed decision is because we no longer have a free press.

You are dismissing the thoughts of a huge group of people because they are racists simply because a racist is delivering them to you via faux news. Meanwhile they are dismissing yours... We have to realize we are all being taken advantage of and have more in common than not.

Our freedom is slowly being stripped away from us while we are stuck arguing over our small differences in beliefs. Fact is we're all people with good intentions and we simply need to let go of our fear, embrace our love for each other and let our differences melt away.

Hard to do when every news channel is busy telling you what to be afraid of next, who's bringing it and what to buy so it doesn't get you.

Ya know, before the whole "tea party" came into being, I said the EXACT same thing about the Republican Party when Bush was at the helm. The GOP was a decent party before those idiots took it over.

This whole polarization thing of conservatives versus liberals has me a bit bewildered, cause I'm kind of a mix. Socially liberal but fiscally conservative, and I would venture to say that there are quite a few who believe the same way, and for us.........it's a real fucking mess.

Hmmmm, I'm really, really thirsty, but which fucking kool aid do I drink, 'cause right now, there all tasting like shit. Ya got the religious right who says the only answer is God's way but what they have going for them is they're fucking energized. Then you have the liberal left who seem to be running around in circles muttering to themselves, "what the....???"

It's like this ship running rudderless in a stormy ocean with the current crew not quite knowing what to do and the passengers ready to revolt 'cause God is on their side, but they don't have a fucking clue either which is the reason that they're turning to God in the first place 'cause they know that they don't have the answers.............ah, but God does..........he'll bail us out.

Fucking idiots. Each party blaming the other for our current mess when the ONLY answer is for everyone to put their heads together and accept the responsibility that it was every ones fault for the state that we're in and until that's done, I'm afraid nothing is going to get better. Can you imagine if all that energy that is being spent on making one party right and the other wrong...........if all that energy and all those resources were spent on fixing the fucking problems.

I think really we just need to realize we are all on the same side. If we can unite against corporate greed and corruption than at least people will have a common enemy and something to blame. It's really not all our faults, the place we're in now. It's the fault of a small elite group that have profited massively in the last couple decades. We need to hold these systems accountable while working towards a system that benefits everyone mutually including mother nature.

No ones really an idiot, the people orchestrating the 2 party blame game are incredibly smart but they do not have our best interest in mind. The people falling victim to this are simply ignorant. Sure they may be stupid but they WANT to do the right thing.

I totally agree though, if we could put all that energy into coming up with synergistic solutions to our modern problems shit would change. We need to figure out how to weave our diverse spirituality (which is good), our incredible modern technology and tie it in to natural systems so they work together (permaculture).

Also repeal the 14th amendment that ended up giving corporate entities "personhood"

Cap all election spending, very small

Do away with the federal reserve and switch to a resource based economy

Start forgiving foreign debt

End the IMF/World Bank tyranny

The whole two sided division doesn't really exist though, it's completely orchestrated by the media. Anyone I talk to doesn't buy that shit for a minute unless there a fucking television zombie, which a lot of people are.

I agree with every POV expressed here. My point is until America acknowledges the pink elephant in the room we won't be able to intelligently address the real problems we collectively face.

@bluntface > You left an important to do off you list... Congressional Term Limits. That would lead to no more lobbyists and no more K Street. Our founding fathers intended our legislators to serve their country, not suck its tit in perpetuity.

There are already term limits. It's called voting. Being able to lobby your elected representatives is a very important right. And I'm not sure how term limits would eliminate lobbyists.

What we really need is to get the money out of politics. Legislators spend a great deal of the day, every day, seeking contributions instead of legislating.

What we really need is for the Press to stop being the Media and start informing us on what is instead of their opinions of what is. Not that opinions are bad but damn the balance is off.

What we really need is an educated populace.

And the founders intended lots of things. Our founders didn't intend for us to directly elect Senators and Representatives. Our founders didn't intend for all of us to have a voice in the electoral process.

Gotta acknowledge the bad also.

Word I'm a strong believer in eliminating career politicians for good. Congressmen and women should come from all walks of life and the laws they pass should be written so anyone(within reason) can understand

Very good points made here. Blunt, Reese, Jeff, Pappy, lwein and all. My god I long for the days of yesteryear when most of us respected the other point of view, politically. This was a favorite subject til Tea and Beck and Bimbo and the crowd on both sides took over.
Couple thoughts.
My question always to the religious folks is simple..."Whos god?" There are way too many out there for us to say"god gave us the right" IMO.
And someone once said to me "nothing happens by accident in politics" which makes much sense. This is all planned. The chaos, the ignorance, the god stuff.
I use small g for god. Big U for Universe. Big M for Master Flow.
Too many gods out there all giving us the right to be extra stupid and hateful to our brothers and sisters.
It is ALL about money for Beck and most of them.
Yes, William F Buckley. Mutual respect. The same boat. Peace. Love. No Fear.

Yeah the big secret really is that GOD is consciousness and freedom. God is Love but Love is also God so in a space void of love God can not exist. God is when you act out of respect for the creator and Mother Earth and your fellow human instead of acting on your animal instincts. GOD means Go Do Good. I think there are enlightened peoples inside every religion but they are not the ones telling people what God wants them to do because they know that one can only discover this in themselves. Jesus was the son of God just like I am and you are. He embodied love completely and there for was God on earth. What people are missing is that anyone can attain this by simply doing the right thing.

I personally love the Buddhist school of thought but christianity has soooo much to offer it's just been used and abused by power structures throughout history. Too much obsession on praying TO God as apposed to praying WITH God. Then the first fool to come and tell you THEY know what God wants is actually believable.

I think the constitution laid out the rights given to us by God rather nicely. Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness so long as it does not impede on the freedom of another. I would include mother nature in here as another but this is quite the gray area. It is our responsibility to look after the planet though.

Right now I totally believe everything happening in politics is happening for a reason. We're scared out of our minds constantly, completely divided. We have no free press. Our food production is under complete control of tyrants that could care less for our health. Our medical system is run by big pharma for the most part and they just want to keep you buying their pills and getting really fucked up all the time. Our culture is being stripped from us (mostly from people of color) then twisted and marketed back to us in convenient packages. All this adds up to a mindless, brainwashed, high, apathetic nation of privileged fools. This is the perfect homeland for the American Empire.

Good Post Blunt, I would just point out that the culture is being stripped away from us on purpose to homogenize the group. This is what is happening in the EU, each country's individual culture is being broken down.

The worst thing about this new "movement" is the war on intellectualism or elitism. It is such a joke. "Hey, you are too smart, and your years of research and education are not to be respected!!!"

BTW I love how Beck lives in a multimillion dollar mega mansion in my home state of Connecticut, one of the most liberal places on earth, good irony.

Yeah I definitely see where you're coming from, I don't know much about the EU's situation but I've heard a lot of racists use the "homogenization of culture" as an excuse for separatism. I think mixing of cultures is good and inspires fresh ideas and different kinds of music, food, dress etc.

I've heard so many interviews where some dumb racist is saying we should all stick to associating with our own race and our own people because if we mix we will lose all our culture and everyone will just be the same. Could be another one of those things where they recognize the problem (homogenization of culture by the media) and then jump to the easiest, most convenient explanation (integration).
