Hello bud, the link isn't working for me.

A couple of suggestions instead of using a document from OneDrive:
  • Use FC's resources section, you can edit and make changes any time and users can offer feedback via the comments section.
  • Create a page for instructions on Vapwood. That would be totally under your control and would follow your branding.
  • Create a Wikipedia page. This would allow you to offer the community the ability to update and maintain the manual with you.
Thank you, will do. Like I said, it's a bit rough. First I'll need to edit up a bit, upload some images.

I started a resource file, >> Quick Start Guide

This is still a first draft with no images. I was quite busy today getting 2018 paperwork together. Thanks to the glory of the internet, there is no such thing as a written receipt. Took a few hours, but I was able to get everything squared away, and now I can focus on building.

So I snuck into the shop for a few hours and got some tedious stuff done. Lots of wire cutting, stripping, soldering to be done. I'm going to prep like 10 DNA boards, that means 40 wires need to be dealt with. I need to cut to the exact length and then tin (apply solder to) both ends, and solder a ring connector to one end. That's 80 wire strips and tins, as well as 40 ring connectors soldered on. I made some minor adjustments to wire length which will make final assembly easier. Looking forward to more simplicity in the final assembly with everything just a little tweaked.

That's about it, tomorrow back into full swing building. Sweet! Let's grow this Elite community! I'm excited to hear what the first 8 have to say. Any questions, feel free to ask openly, or PM me. The Elite is truly a remarkable unit, and even after this short period of time, I could not imagine not using it.

Good morning!

As the brand new Elites touch down, the user guide first draft has been posted on Vapwood.
>> USER GUIDE

There is a link to the Escribe software for those who want to delve even deeper. You can download the software and tweak things on your computer. There are certain things that can only be done on the computer, but most settings can be accessed right on the device. Have fun playing with it, but you can return to Watt Boost if you get the least bit frustrated.

Building the Elite has become a routine operation that I can predict the outcome of every process. This means every Elite is exactly the same when it comes to performance. Another truly remarkable feature is how easy swapping parts will be, but in all reality, I don't anticipate too much repair. The board itself can be easily changed, as can the screen. That's all due to the modular board / cover plate set up. This is a vape that's designed to last a lifetime. Even the coil can be easily accessed and swapped out (thanks to the bottom cap vs enclosed box), even though the heavy duty mesh coil will never really burn out.

My goal right now is to build lots and lots of Elites. I really want to stock up on every drop of inventory, so the next bunch of sales will be put right back into Vapwood. I want to be fat with parts, ready to build as many units as possible.

Since I want to start shopping today, I'm going to offer a FREE Walnut Roasting Tube (one of @Alan's finest) with the purchase of every Walnut Elite sold this week. Also don't forget about the coupon code: ELITIST that will save you $30. Simply include your FC handle to get in on the free walnut tube.

Just had my first two bowls through my Elite.
Thanks for all of your efforts Mike and Alan.
I can already tell that this guy packs a punch. It does indeed heat up fast.

As this is my first go with an Alan style heater I'm certain that my technique will improve. At the 30 watts it was set to out of the box, I could pull pretty hard and the heater could definitely keep up. There was some browning on the first load.

Second load I turned it down to 28 watts and drew faster while pulsing the button as the heat really crept up on me for the first hit or two. This went very well and managed to get mostly even browning. I'm not very willing to stir so I was glad to get these results.

All hits, including the first, were very large.

Taste was great and I'd imagine it will only get better as it seasons.

The stem sits firmly in the wood. The Elite is about 2 inches shorter than my 510 vapes. It is much more stable standing up than the 510 vapes.

Overall fit is great. The buttons and face plate look nearly seamless. The battery door has solid action with the magnets yet slides off very easily. There is zero play in the buttons.

As it traveled in winter and was freshly tooled wood, the wood was bone dry. However after a brief interlude with some bomb ass butter it was looking dapper.

The inside corner where the purpleheart (edit: walnut on walnut, no purpleheart) and walnut meet has a bit of a gap but aside from that it looks really great. Especially considering how few @Bravesst has made.

I'm anxious to play with some of the profiles and really see what this guy can do.

Thanks Mike. I'm proud to own one of these powerful and flexible vapes.

Jumped on to post a pic but realized Mike had sent me this beauty.

Have to say I really been enjoying mine this afternoon.
My early feelings are it was well worth the wait :rockon:I have high hopes for the Elite and already feel it's on it's way to meeting them. Will post more thoughts later when not as medicated hehe.

Thanks Mike

That is actually Walnut on Walnut, end grain gets almost black when treated with beeswax. Same thing happens to Cherry, looks really cool. It's one of the reasons flipping the box was such a good idea.

It's funny, with the Classic release, I was a bit nervous about how it would be received. With the Elite, I'm very excited, but not nervous. What I want to do is get as many units shipped as possible, because I'm very confident that the LB Elite will sell itself.

Thank You!!!

so got the maple elite in the mail slot late this afternoon and have been absolutely amazed
at the cool and even draw to a nice full cloud on my initial recommended 28 watt setting.
First bowl at this setting lasted 6-7 good pulls with evenly brown and fully extracted abv.

i was skeptical about the need for the added electronics as i was an early adopter of the
Lil Bud but already i can see and taste what the addition of a circuit board brought to the
game. Can't wait to explore the presets and then set the controls for warp speed. lol

Congratulations and kudos to Mike and Alan for collaborating and producing such a nice
vaporizer and dare i say piece of art?

you decide ….

Hey All,

Awesome, awesome, awesome!!! Very happy to hear the good reviews coming in. You can already see, the Elite will sell itself. I made some really good progress on 15 more units yesterday. Unlike the Classic, the Elite will probably not see as many changes, as everything is pretty much set. Any changes will be very minor, and probably have more to deal with internal wiring.

It's time to get really serious and build some Elites. I sold over 130 Classics last year, and my goal is blow past that this year in Elites! I'm going to do my best to streamline the build process, and produce as many units as possible.

I feel getting the 510 connection out of the picture is huge. The shorter height and just overall feel of the LIL bud elite is a nice change over the light saber looks of 510 vapes.

I'm seeing some excellent graph readouts in device manager in TC mode. The stock SS 316 does run on the cool side and you may need to increase temperature well using it. I'm trying some other material files but for now I suggest just using a higher temperature setting in TC mode.

I feel by time batch 2 ships the stock software will be even more improved on. The performance already is very good and I see it only getting better as software is tweaked.

I'm going do something I normally wouldn't and recommend this one already. Normally like to spend more time with a device first. Since I been using a iheat with DNA chip and the little bud for awhile now. I feel comfortable recommending the elite.

Anyone wanting a wooden handcrafted made in America vaporizer. Should give this one a serious look. It performs at least as well if not better than most 510 devices I use. It's quickly becoming one of my favorite device.

Trying not to get overly into the DNA tech aspect here but at same time want share a few pointers I picked up. Please don't let this info scare anyone off . The average user is going have a easy experience using the elite. Basically it's setting either watts or temperature depending on the experience you like.

First if you switch profiles well in use it may ask you if it's a new coil. This is a feature in the chip to allow using different attys with different OHM resistance. You want to always use the cold ohms (old setting). If you remeasure ohm on a coil well it's still warm it will cause it to run on the warm side.

In TC mode instead of having Muti profiles of TC maybe easier to use just one profile for it and just adjust temperature. The chip is building a database on the each profile and how the resistance of coil material changes over time. It does this to improve on TC accuracy.

My feeling is you only really need 1 temperature control profile. DNA only going use the watts needed to maintain temperature so you really don't need have muti wattage settings in TC modes. Since it's constantly improving the accuracy theres not much sense in having muti TC profiles and may even cause user confusion? Maybe drop preheat to 50 watts and increase wattage to 40 as starting range in TC.

On the workmanship feels very solid in hand. The buttons have a nice feel and response to them.
A couple of small thing could be improved on. First the faceplate doesn't have a hole for the indicator light. Most people wouldn't notice but wanted point that out. There's also a small gap in mine between faceplate and side panel that can see a little of the screen light thru. Neither affect performance just little things I noticed with mine.

Thanks for the great review! For someone who has an iHeat already paired with a DnaC would you say performance wise it's a similar experience but with a vastly improved form factor ? Or is there an improvement in performance as well by removing the 510 ?

Curious about the same thing.

I do not like the 510 atty form factor as always worried the atty will be snapped off.

Happy for you Mike. It's been very cool to watch this vaporizer evolve and develop over the course of the year. And when I can, I'll be getting one of my very own.

I have a few items around here that I don't use much since the Lil Bud hip checked them to the 'for possible sale' section of my vaping cabinet. I'll figure that out over the next week or so, and then add myself to the Elite list.

I do have a question. Would the 4" glass-lined roasting tubes I got from Alan work well with the Elite? Or is the Elite set up to work with the shorter all-wood stems?

P.A.M.

Vapo Rising
@beyond6strings ,
It's all I've been using with my iHeat/DNA mod as well . I get my fat rips by extracting at lower temps which give super smooth quality vapor with no worries of scorching or darkening a load too fast .

The shorter stock tubes do give the same effect . the Elite must be a joy , can't wait

The glass lined tubes work well. I was way into the glass lining with the Classic, as it cooled things down, restricted air flow, help give me a the best possible hit. Then, one day all I had was an unlined short stem with me, and decided to just use it. Holy shit was that a wake up call. All the smoothness and coolness of the glass lining, but with the large volume of wide open 18 mm. If you're used to glass lining, just pop the glass out and give this a try.

@HerbieVonVapster
Can't wait to get a look at your files. Trying to get a handle on all this, reading forums, others issues. Seems the board can be dealt with really simply, while others tend to over complicate things. Preheat and Punch are a bit difficult to understand. Preheat is listed in all TC modes, but controls wattage. Punch is expressed in 1-11 and included in all Watt modes. I think they both release more power, one with temp, one with watts, at button depression, for just a fraction of a second. I read some mention of *meaty coils* getting most benefit from an initial boost of power, then pull back. I believe our coil would be considered meaty.

Preheat in TC has 3 settings
Power is the wattage setting use a higher than normal wattage
Then you decide between punch or temperature
Punch is a slider the higher the number the closer to the set temperature it uses the higher preheat wattage for.
Temperature this is the temperature you set the preheat to cut out.

Best way is to toss on device monitor you want it to hit set temperature without overshooting it in TC mode.

In wattage mod haven't played much looks like boost works like punch but without a option to enter wattage?

Then there's also warmth setting in replay. But lets keep in simple for now.

The watt boost works really well and think most user will enjoy it. Temperature control works with the 316 currently but temperature need increased.

Biggest thing is to have correct cold ohms for coil entered. Reading best done at 70degree on a cold core. I recommend letting it sit overnight and run in morning. Mike Are you seeing much difference on cold coil ohm or they coming out around the same?

Good morning fellow Elitists. Some ideas floating around in my head this morning. I updated some of the ad copy on the website. I find myself in a position of having something to sell that is quite remarkable, but as the seller, you only have so much credibility about the quality and value of your product. Unfortunately, that is just the way things are in today's world.

In reality (we forget about that sometimes), the Elite was born of a huge need that @Alan recognized a long time ago. What better home for his InstaHeat SS Coil mesh heater? An all wood, glass and glue free, side by side (oven / battery) house for his coil. Once that aspect was mastered, the next logical step was to add the most advanced control / circuit board on the market today - enter the DNA75C.

The board is a perfect match for our body and coil. It nestles nicely into a half inch of space, conveniently placing screen and buttons just where you need them. The interaction with the our beefy SS coil is superb. The board reads the coil, and the coil behaves exactly as it should. Obviously, I can get way more technical than that, but I don't really have to, other than adjusting some basic settings.

I know the Elite isn't cheap. Hell, it's got $150 worth of parts on board. But it is rock solid, better than I ever though it would be. It's as if the board was made for Alan's coil, and I just built a really nice house for both. The Elite is going to make a lot of people happy for a very long time.

Not seeing much difference in cold ohms, all about .32 or so. I guess there is potential for differences. I've had the best results, most consistent and easy to adjust, at .34, but that is almost exclusively in WATT BOOST. In TC mode, not 100% sure what would be best.

Neubies...
When powering up, changing batts, the unit will ask you about the ohm setting. Keep the old setting vs saying YES to measuring again. It will measure a warm coil and change everything up. While diving into the settings is way cool, and something I am going to do with the help of some knowledgeable Elite users, so as to best provide you with the best presettings, this is not something you must do to a high level as the end user, but you can.

I want one sooo bad! As soon as I have enough money saved up, I plan on buying one ASAP. Things are tight right now, and unfortunately it’s preventing me from ordering one at the moment. After doing extensive research on and off the forums, I have decided I want one of these now instead of the highly-acclaimed Milaana II vape... It just looks superior in every way, shape, and form with much thicker, less whispy vapor clouds (important to me, as well as many others.) The digital functionality looks unmatched too. Better wood options - it would be BEAUTIFUL dressed in Koa! Can’t wait until I can finally get my grubby little hands on one!

P.S. Collaboration with Alan makes it a no-brainer.

Just noticed that my long stem looked a bit wonky in the elite. Like it was leaning a bit. It appears very straight from the front panel view.

I tried a glass stem and it too looked off.
I conclude that my hole is askew.

We might be slow to get started in popularity, but very advanced in what went into building this vape, and how it all turned out. Save up, do what it takes, but get an Elite. In all reality, I was a doubter. Once the first prototype was functional, it was a matter of a few hits before I absolutely knew what we did here.

As far as @duff's askew taper hole, while anything is possible, that's a first, as the unit is held in an x / y vice when 4 holes are drilled on one center line, 2 from the top of the unit and two from the bottom. The two top holes are 5/8 and the reamer that creates the taper. The level of tilt you show there can not be attributed to wobble of the bit or any such minor tolerance issue. If possible, can you please return that unit to me, I'll cover shipping. I'd like to figure out what's going on, and take any appropriate action to correct. Of course, a replacement unit will be returned to you. Same result with a wooden tube?

Thanks for the quick response @Bravesst.
I will certainly send it in for you to take a look at. I'm not mad. This is just part of the process.

The unit itself is square on all body planes.

For clarity's sake, here are a couple of pictures with other stems. Alan's stem looks more pronounced due to the taper.

Hey @duff,
I realize you're not mad :). I just checked my 15 half built units, all good. Your unit must have shifted ever so slightly in the vice. I agree with you about prototypes, as the first batch was sold as such.

@Logic Koa coming really soon, and it's available on the website.

Other than the performance the easy clean aspect is huge.

Some you know about my health conditions. One of the big reason I'm so into the the 510device and now elite the ease of maintaince. The stem design is prefect for me. If you blow out the spent load when warm your done. I do run a nylon brush thru my wooden stems at an embarrassing rare rate.

Hehe I think was more with @Alan and felt this was going be worth it. The iheat on DNA is already a sweet combo. Combining improving it into the lil bud going appeal to lots of people.

Thanks for the quick response @Bravesst.

Well don't think it affects the usage. I just realized mine is the same way stem also Leans towards front. Don't think woulda even noticed it without using a long stem. No biggie it least leans in the right direction.
