Dog THC poisoning.

My dog jumped up on my bed and puked. Then she looked lathargic and wobbly. I think she will be fine but I am so mad at myself. She got a Q tip that I cleaned my Dynavap with. I am sure the alcohol was evaporated but the thc level is obviously high. Please secure your Q tips better than I did. She dug it out of the trash can!

A lot of times I think of my vape room as an inconvenience, but with all the hot items and problems they can get into I am glad it's all in it's own space. Good advice to keep things put up away from dogs, cats and anyone else we don't want near our cannabis.

@psychonaut I didn't even think about the Q tips and that's why I wanted to share. I am so mad at myself. My little girl is my everything!

wow Newcastle that's some drama, yea we don't mess around with THC and our pets especially if I make edibles I make sure they are well away from the hound and my Cockatiel. my dog did lick some infused coconut oil I cooked up last year on accident, all it did was make him sleepy for a few hours thankfully.

I hate to bump this thread out of the archives, but this morning I had to take my yellow lab to the vet. The dog was having trouble standing up and very out of it. As soon as the vet saw her, she asked about MJ. I had thrown away the remains of a coconut oil infusion on to the compost pile. Apparently the dog has eaten some unknown amount of the leftovers. Apart from extreme dehydration and a very sorry owner, it sounds like she will be alright. The vet has seen this condition a number of times and recognized it immediately. Please be careful with all of your MJ folks. I am fully responsible for the situation that I put my poor dog in, and I will never be so careless again. Until now, this type of thing never crossed my mind. I will be disposing of leftovers in a different manner from this point forward. Our furry friends depend on us to be the smart(er) ones. I can only hope my little girl recovers from this quickly and with zero lasting implications.

I was at a party once and while everyone was outside by a campfire, the hosts dog, a shepard mix, ate a tray of medicated muffins. 24 mini muffins. The host had just taken them out of the oven, and put them on top of the stove to cool while she stepped outside for a couple minutes. The dog slept that night and the next day but was fine.

The same dog, Achilles, now diseased, would eat a whole potted plant if given a chance. He should have been named Bogart, lol.

a lot of times if you just dim the lights and put on some Allman Brothers they respond nicely.

@Helios , I used to collect the seeds from schwag back in the day, my Parrot LOVED that stuff, it's part of their natural diet in the wild. Parrots aside tho, THC and many pets are not a good combo (CBD however, can be extremely useful!).

I had a dog who one night I decided to get high (back in the smoking days.) He was about 100 lbs (shepherd/rot/lab mix) and would always come around when I would fire one up, but how the hell do you get a dog to smoke? I gently took his snout & blew into his nose. He didn't even try to pull away. Once his lungs were full the air escaped through his mouth making the funniest damn sound with his flapping jowls.

This dog was normally fairly hyper. He walked repeatedly around the room slowly before finding the right spot to just crash & chill.

Every single time I would spark one up after that I had this dog in my face like "WHERE'S MINE? LET'S GO!"

I'm pretty sure it's an amount thing that depends on the concentration & the size of the dog. A 50 pound human eating an entire batch of potent edibles might have a problem too. Need to watch out for them, as many dogs don't have a clue when to say when.

The size of dog is a big factor here.

I had a dog who was the same way, pretty funny... there'd be a gathering of friends under the trees in the back, and he made a bee-line for 'his' shot from everyone... good quality stuff back in the day, didn't really phase him badly. He DID calm down a bit, but he would seek it out every time. These days I'd do that with some CBD, but with the variability of response to THC... not so much.
