It's alive! :zombie:

Looks like somebody ran over the chamber with a truck but it's ripping as good as ever so far. Recorded the very first rip from my repaired unit on temp 4. Finished the whole pinch of weed in one large hit. Lights still flicker when I get past level 4 but it's extracting strong and fast. Hope it lasts.

Glad your back in action brother :argh:

I made a stand so I can keep mine upright never allowing ooze to slime it's way into the oven. Also haven't been sharing mine natively in fear someone will blown into it. Who knows it's still working hope you get a lot of use out of yours. Turn around wasn't too bad either ?

Welp bad news. This body is doing the same thing the last replacement they sent me was doing. Gets so hot on the outside that it will burn your hands within like 3 seconds of clicking the button if your fingers are anywhere near where the heater is. Not talking about hot vapor making the end of the device hot like normal, this is literally like instant burn you it's so hot heat right where anyone would normally hold the device. Also no temp control, level 1 is the same as level 5. Can't say I'm too surprised unfortunately.

damn, that sucks :/
Never had that issue but it sounds bad.

And what do you mean with the chamber? Is it squished or just marked up?
My RMA's were filthy when I got them back, lots of dark grey grit everywhere and on the backends.

Got a pretty quick response for HL. They said it's a "contact issue" and if I send it in they'll fix it quickly for me. Waiting on another response to me asking if they'll provide a label since I literally just got it back broken. Not holding my breath.

Contact issue? How come we can't troubleshoot before sending it in. Are they just cleaning the threads or opening it up? No wires. So contacts are exposed how do we fix this issue? @Cheesequake bummer brother. Mine replacement body was running really hot and I ran through all the temps clicking them off and on and it seemed to work alright? IDK I wouldn't give up and send it in just yet! Who knows how long it will take and night as well try before

I cleaned it and fiddled with it a ton. Ended up using their pre paid label to send it in today after deciding there's nothing I'd be able to do myself. Hoping the 8th time is the charm.

So I received a package from hopper labs today... It had the spare back end I payed for but no replacement body... So nice of them to ship out what I payed for but not the actual warrantied device.
"The service and upgrades are free but do take time as we have only in the last two months started to return devices." - from HL on 1/29/2019. No kidding! So is the RMA backlog or HL's bringing certain processes in house our fault? NO! SSDD with them and the waiting continues...:peace:

Not sure who the bigger idiot is right now, me or hopper labs. The label they provided has my name in the receive address. Sent it out yesterday and it's out for delivery in my town today :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I just sent them this message: "The label you provided me has the addresses swapped. It's being delivered to me today. I can't believe how you guys run this company it's absolutely incredible. This will be the 8th repair request if you count reopening this one and NOT ONCE have I gotten my hopper back in fully working condition. 7 tries and 7 fails. Will the 8th time be the charm? "

Exit: They gave me a new label.

Question for people with working hoppers:

Is your hopper working when there’s no mouthpiece/PFE is screwed?

I have 2 bodies (both are are replacements by HL) and 1 backend (also replaced by HL after original broke).

Everything was working perfectly for 2-3 months until about a month ago when I occasionally started having red light, sometimes flicker the off. With time it appears more and more with less blue light.

I have no idea if it’s the bodies, the backend or batteries ( I have 7, 2 bought 3-4 months ago . The hopper does not work when mouthpiece is not screwed.

I used to fix the red light to off by strengthening the screen inside the mouthpiece but it doesn’t help anymore.

I’m also seeing sparks when clicking, and hearing the hopper tick (and I don’t think it supposed to be this way even though I read somewhere this is why it’s called hopper)

Hopefully this is not the end of my hopper era. I’m a big fan.

All my hoppers work without a front end. I sent them to be fixed without them though, but my newer unit is the same.

Not too sure what the story with this front end stuff is, seems like there is a questionable assembler who can't get it right

One thing I noticed about the hopper I just sent back that I never have before is it got significantly hotter without the front end. Night and day different.

I've been through a lot of hoppers. When they are working, they function fine without the front end attached, I've never experienced otherwise.
Ticking is in the normal realm of behavior. Sometimes more, sometimes less, or none ime.
Sparks are not at all normal, Some folks have reported arc-ing across some of Hoppers parts, but it is not normal.

If I understand, both bodies are doing these weird things? I speculate that the problem may be the back end.
If you think I may be correct, then I suggest that you open a warranty request, tell them you have isolated the problem to the back end (by using your two bodies). They may offer to send you a new back end, and this might happen far faster than asking for a full service. I do understand that you have not conclusively isolated the problem to the back end (a better test would be conducted with a known-working back end), but you don't need to describe all these behaviors to them, just tell them the back end isn't working properly with either body. I don't think there's much downside to this strategy. It may not pan out, but it's worth a shot.

Both bodies will not work without front Endor with regular front end.
Only PFE.
One body will give me red to off 80% of the times I click and the other still goes 60% to blue and the rest of the times blue to off / red to off. It had a decline in performance the last month and a half. Heater seems fine.

Hoppers should work regardless whether a frontend, standard or PFE, is attached or not. That’s my understanding, and I only have the standard one. I don’t believe there’s any electrical connection between the frontends and body.

I’ve heard ticking before on my pre-order Ti but it’s not always discernable or noticeable. It’s not a big deal for as long as the things works, which it did for 2+ years and now sits in RMAville. Sparks = BAD! That should not happens and is a cause for concern.

TGIF! :peace:

I haven't been on this thread in a very long time. I'm an original early bird backer who waited over two years for my hoppers to arrive. Fortunately, both of my original Ti units are still working. They do get hotter than they did when new but function properly. Admittedly, my hoppers don't get used heavily since I use all of my vapes equally. My friends hopper is out for repair and the estimated return time is 3 more months. It's sad that there are still so many problems with this product and company. I still love this vape. enjoy

My Hoppers all tick. Sometimes it's more noticeable than other times, but it's always audible if I listen closely. A lot of posters seem to be concerned about the ticking noise. I understand that this noise is actually one of the reasons that the Grasshopper got its name. My Pavlovian response to hearing the ticking sound is actually positive. I think that I would be concerned if I didn't hear the ticking.

Fortunately, both of my original Ti units are still working. They do get hotter than they did when new but function properly.

I'm curious to know if you've every tried cleaning the back-end threads (both on the back-end and in the body where the back-end screws in) with Blu-Tack? I seem to get less back-end heat immediately after a cleaning, although the effect does not seem to last. And it could be due to removing and re-attaching the back-end.

Are there any competitors to the Grasshopper in terms of nearly instant heat up time? From my research I've found the Firefly... I'm wondering if I've missed one or if that's it.

Nothing else even comes close if you ask me. When the hopper is working 100% it can hit as hard as a Vapexhale Cloud....near instantly, at a tenth of the size.
