has anyone used the water tool vapefiend sells for the splinter?thanks

Don't know if VF is still selling his version or RBT's new version which is longer between the 2 joints. I bought one of the VF ones when RBT sold it, but RBT replaced it with his own longer stemmed wpa as Ryan found it difficult getting his fingers around that short of a stem to lift & clear. Email VF & ask.

hello, im fairly new to the subject and some hours of research in (maybe not the most efficient today) but still have so many questions...
from what i read i want a Splinter Z with XL8R stem
and im looking for the ideal mod box for it, its still not completely clear to me what the best option is. While dna250c devices are certainly the upper class for "normal" vaping, as far as i understand other devices (mainly Reuleaux) can be loaded with a special profile/firmware that is quite polished and offers more features like autofire, settings and overall vape experience, but then the box is not useable for "normal" RDA/Mesh Atomizers?

i already have an innokin proton and a smoant charon mini, but im thinking about getting a dedicated mod for the splinter with 3 batteries that will provide a better vape experience. Suggestions? Waste of money?

thanks :)

If you want good temp control and three batteries go with the wismec Reuleaux dna250 and load up the FC profile. Otherwise the mods you already have should work fine with wattage. Or there are also some three battery mods that will work with tubo or sur myevic if you want cruise/autofire most of all

does this profile work with other DNA250 mods (Hcigar VT250S to be specific) or do i miss out on features/experience compared to a Reuleaux? I might be confusing it with this myevic, i also read about Frost Wolf or something like that, have to do more research tomorrow.

Haha arctic fox, another fw option that offers no benefits I am aware of unless you like it. Yes its been discussed here almost every page I feel like now, dna has profiles for easy temp control, myevic offers extra features but potentially tedious TC. Wattage fine for all

Hi, gang!

How far back in the thread do I need to go in order to learn anything about the Splinter?
All this stuff about mods and firmware and other vapes, I don’t know what any of this means.

I *DO* know about 510-threaded batteries, so that’s something, maybe

Mods seemed intimidating to me until I got one. From there you will see what it's all about. The splinter and z are both easy to use. Start on wattage and its instant vapor and then honing in on a style or several that you enjoy. I recommend starting with a DNA because you will want one eventually. Maybe read back 20 pages or so to get a feel for it.

See...I DON’T know what a “mod” is, or what you mean by “a DNA” - and I fail repeatedly at figuring it out from context. Yes, this means I have no idea what you said in your comment (sorry, I *never* try to be stupid, it just comes naturally). Are they things that screw into a 510 battery?

Going back 20-30 pages to see if I can catch up...

It is a 510 battery with a whole lot of tech, much larger. A regular battery for like a disposable cartridge can not run these, those tiny pens don't have the juice (and would look ridiculous with the much fatter Splinter). There is actually a thread for them in the Ask FC section, look up the Wismec Reuleaux line to see some popular examples or their Sinuous P80

As a newcomer to these box mods and also a new Splinter V1 user, I walked in the same footprints as so many before me, and the patience of folks here has made all the difference in the world. I would not have even bought the vape without some of this help. (I'm still just on my 'starter' Sinuous P80, loving it)
I see @Shit Snacks and others covering the same ground, as he said, on almost every page here.

It does seem that and Idiot's Guide to Box Mods and flower vape attachments, would be a huge boon going forward. Maybe this already exists? I understand that it is a changing landscape, but...

So many of the discussions, by nature, jump to a more complex level right away. Us newbs need to learn the language; it begins to de-mystify the whole experience.

100% agreed, a reassuring idiots guide would solve many repetative questions, even if the questions are answered in the thread or some other posts, its hard for a newb to identify the correct answeres already given, specially if not sure what to look for.

the patience and help is very appreciated, im normally not the guy asking questions i can google the answer to myselve, but i feel both the complexity and nichyness of the topic made it hard to resist.
specially for me as european, paying 200€ for a Splinter Z, i still feel pretty distant from all this.

Go back plenty of you want, everyone super patient (or at least they privately discuss their frustration) and there's a lot of info, but the last 6 or so pages seem to be the critical bit of the recent relevant and fine tuney stuff, as they're getting into a lot of hands.

But if you mean how much to read to decide if you should get one? Just this reply. Seriously. Get one. My only need at this point is to get in bed with the bigger badder heater of the Z, but that’s all just a matter of funds, and how tight your budget is.

The mod (Batteries) are indeed intimidating, but don't need to be: almost anything you get will do what you need to get down properly, with options and confusion there for you later if you want to tweak on it.

Lot's of info over in these 2 threads problem is a lot of different mods are used so info get jumbled. A guide would be nice option but with the amount of mods used it be some work to put together.

The DNA250c can't cruise. Does that mean I need to purchase another mod if I want to use that feature? Sucks tbh ..

@bossman Has your Paranormal been shipped? Mine still in processing, I ordered at 10th Feb ..
Coincidentally mine shipped on the tenth. I can track it here and it still says it's on the way to the destination country.

So true. You'll love the Z when the time comes.

Yeah it is tough, even for someone like me who knows RBT vape so well but knew nothing about mods, but I did the same thing and just reading back a bit will tell you a lot since so many new people have come in to ask about this recently, plenty of tips to get going.

The point is most any mod will work in wattage mode as that is the way splinters were designed. So you can just pick one you like superficially, the thing with the firmware is is it can offer you the longer time out for holding the trigger though some go up to 15 seconds stock which is often plenty (it may just be in a hidden menu). when you want temp control and extra features it does make this more of a headache, but again I repeat you do not need any of this to experience the wonder of this vape if you are new to RBT. It can be simple, it can be complex.

The DNA250c can't cruise. Does that mean I need to purchase another mod if I want to use that feature? Sucks tbh ..

Yes you have to choose between DNA and tubo/sur myevic mods then, if cruise/autofire is most important but you still want TC then you will have to figure it out, but you can cruise in wattage too (I have surmyevic on my RXG3D with Z and have autofire at 25s which I always stop around 15s, I just don't have to hold button during a hit is all, I have not configured any TC so just use wattage) If having the temp control all set up for you in a profile that is more universally consistent is a priority, then you will be absolutely fine using a DNA mod on demand as I am with my Splinter V2 on RXdna250 (using the Z profile though)

I'm not sure I understand the interest in cruise mode for Splinters. If I am getting it then cruise mode basically turns your Splinter into a session vape. Well, why not get a session vape then like the Mighty? The Splinter is designed as an on demand vape and does that REALLY well. It can DO sessions but from my stable if I want to session I pull out the HA.

I have a DNA mod on order (where are you, damnit) but if someone asked me at this point what the simplest setup was for a Splinter to get going immediately without a lot of learning I would probably suggest a Splinter or SplinterZ and a DNA mod like the Paranormal or, if cheap is relevant, the RX DNA 250 LE. Personally I have ordered the HCigar VT75D, but I don't know if I can recommend it yet. Both VT75D and the RX DNA 250 are discontinued so available cheaply. The former has the newer C chip.

We actually already had this discussion, maybe in the Z thread, but again it does not technically make it a session vape like the mighty because it is still pure convection on demand (mighty is a hybrid, constantly cooking your herb regardless of inhale). What it does is allow you to use your Splinter like a log vape, which is always on yet still on demand with pure convection heating. otherwise it allows you to not have to hold down the button during your hits, which is how I use autofire with my Z. So again it is still not at all the same to compare it to a session vape, it just gives you more useage options... you could find a way to load it and keep it on and keep the stem in and keep puffing on it which would be closer to that, but again this would still be quite different from most every other session vape available.

And yes a DNA would be the suggestion if someone wants easy temp control without playing around (aside from the initial setup loading the profiles) but again I must remind everyone that wattage mode is the easiest way to get going with any Splinter on any mod.

I guess it's a matter of how one looks at these things. This is how I would describe how I used my HA. That is my "log like" vape (tho not wood) and I wouldn't have gotten a Splinter for that, but each to their own. My preferred way to vape is on demand, sometimes just one good hit and sometimes several. While I have different vapes that all do that differently (Splinters [and other RBT vapes], VCs, Lotus), on demand is the target. All 3 of those vapes get bullseyes for me.

But your HA was not instant, right?
It just adds to the versatility is all. The Splinter may be the best at that with all the options, one vape instead of several, for the average user. Like I said, the way I use mine is on demand, I just don't have to hold the button during my hit which can be preferable for my hand troubles

No, it's not. Neither are the log vapes that I was comparing it to.

When I first started vaping in 2014 I got the HA because I wanted to try different methods of vaping so that I could narrow down what would be ideal to my tastes. The HA allowed me to use a bag, a whip, direct draw or turn it over into glass. As I got better at using it I found ways to spill the crucible out so it would stop cooking when I wasn't drawing but that wasn't really how it was designed to work. I was improvising.

These days I have different vapes that work better for all the different ways I like to vape, but I am nearly always using something on demand because I like to be in charge rather than the vape shaping my behavior. That is usually either an RBT vape (any of them) or a VapCap because those give me exactly what I want most of the time.
