so i tcr'd finally!

at 150, max watt at 45... resistance 0.229 or close, matched it to a photo I cant find now... How critical is that? should I be checking something and setting mine based on my SPECIFIC unit?
anyone? thisll get buried methinks...

So the mod Sneaky Pete has does not have the DNA chipset. However, he is using the myeriv software. I thought the mod needed the DNA chip to do so.

Dna is a different chipset than the one that can be loaded with myevic and the tubo firmware by funky junky.
To make it more confusing, some Wismec mods have DNA, some like my Reuleaux 2/3 have the other.

If your put your splinter on cold, your mod will recognize the resistance value. As per Hippie's advice, I subtracted .008 and put that in instead, to result in .235 ohms. I wouldn't be setting resistance values to just pictures I find, as there's interunit variability. I set my max watt at 35 because that's the sweet spot I prefer.

@Interstelar Space, this is what I use for my XL8r:

I, too, use the dynavap large snapstash for the XL8r jr.

*Sorry for the enormous pic.

Nope, no firmware for that one. You'd need a DNA mod. You can experiment on your own to try for some TC, but easier to just stick to wattage we've been saying. That mod and others will work more than fine in power mode as designed

I thought I needed a DNA chip mod to load the software. So that is NOT true? The myevic software can be loaded on mods without DNA?

You either install custom firmware or get a DNA mod. DNA mod means that the chipset in there is good enough not to need custom firmware. Check funkyjunk website and sur_myevic website for lists of compatible (non-DNA) mods.

Thank you all for the clarification. It makes more sense now. The research continues...

I gotta say a way to protect the longer XL8R stem when out and about makes it a little more attractive. I have rarely used a Splinter away from home as I prefer to cool the vapor, and have been using water for that. I haven't used an XL8R yet, but I am a lot closer to getting one now...

Looks like you've been taken care of by now, but here it is again if you want TC:

DNA mods have better accurate temp control, and can use FC profiles for Splinter etc. to make that super simple.

Other mods may work with tubomyevic or surmyevic firmwares, which offer many other features like cruise, but configuring temp control on them is more involved for Splinters and can vary for each unit.

So I pulled the trigger on the splinter and an evic vtwo mini today. I’m just waiting for the 18650 battery to charge up.

Super excited to test it out tonight. I’m not planning to mess with the box mod just yet because I spent last night perusing this thread and I have to say most of it went over my head.
I’m going to keep it simple stupid and use it straight out of the box.

Other than setting the wattage according to the skimpy instructions provided by RBT, is there any advice for a newbie using it for the first time? I just don’t want to be disappointed and spend hours fiddling with it. Thanks all!

Just start at 30watts and go up or down to taste as it warms up the more you have it going. Without custom firmware your mod will likely time out after holding the button for 10sec so I'd suggest a 5-second preheat from cold, then press the button again for your 7-10sec hit. Load the stem by sucking up like a straw, brush off the excess and then gently tamp with your finger. I take the first it upside down in case of any herb splillage, after which it will be fused in place until you stir or empty it. You may also want to rotate the stem in between heads to help with a more even extraction, but a slow steady draw will help more probably, though you can certainly rip it as well. Good luck!

(once you get acclimated, I think next level will be loading the tubo firmware for you since it works well with that mod and allows you a longer time out of 20 seconds. then you can also experiment with temp control eventually if you like, or at least cruise up to 5min in watts too)

Torn apart ..

Planetvapes (Canada) doesn't have version 2, they has v1 & Z. I'm sold on the fact that it has the Zion heating element (or technology) but I want it because I wanted a portable to use outside (and at work). Also the more I use the enano with the glass stem (I have the long stem) I find the vapor harsh (hot) even at 6 setting. A long stem will limit the portability of the device. The drytube looks dope but it is longer than the Z attached to a mod!

I find a lot of people love the splinter but they mostly use it at home. I have a great vaporizer at home in the enano (which cured my VAS for desktops .. at least till now :p ) but I want a portable .. Am I looking for love in the wrong place?

You will still be fine with the V1 and can compensate for the Z with your mod. I haven't been using my log since getting my splinters, and the junior cooling mouthpiece is great for smooth hits

Thanks a lot!

I actually have to wait another hour before my battery is fully charged so I downloaded the tubo firmware from the rbt website. If I load it onto the mod, is it self explanatory as to how to use it? Is there an instruction guide somewhere?

I purchased the paranormal thanks to @bossman post. It is dna 250c chip, which should be a great mod. I think I'll get the v1. Do you know what's the difference between the two?

I'll have to check the junior cooling. I hope planet vape has them.

I'm not sure that you can without the battery installed however, also it may start charging when connected by default which could not be great for the battery I've heard? Anyway I think lamart.tubo website has various instructions, and in the mod thread here, but the trick is setting it to power mode since it is set up for the tubo in TC by default... There are a few settings you can adjust for edit and cruise that will be useful, I think if you search maybe someone posted more detailed instructions here, but pressing fire and up at the same time will get you to the menu for starters.

Nice! Yeah that isn't the smallest mod despite having two batteries, but will be great for temp control with the FC profiles. V1 uses mica insulators in the heater just like all the US and custom RBT products before it, but the V2 (also blackwood with smoked glass) and ZV1 use ceramic insulators in the heater.

And yeah, they may only have the king kooling kit which has a short cooling mouthpiece that is the same, but a little thinner glass being Chinese is all

Just got myevic on my mod and wow what a difference in experience.
Cool, which myevic bin file should I download for my RX Gen3 Dual? Is it myevic.bin from 2017 on github or the Tubo one from Lamart or something else?

Looks like I also need to be pointed to a firmware updater too. The wismec updater let me install the original wismec firmware again (overwriting Arctic Fox, which I'm prepared to ditch for now) but it won't flash the rxg3d with the myevic.bin or the Tubo bin file.
