Has anyone who ordered a wisemec during the sale a few days ago get shipping information yet? I ordered 4 days ago and it still says processing, I realize the likely had a large volume of orders due to the sale but 4 days seems a bit long, doesn't it?

Didn't order, but I know the Wismec site has a big "sorry" chinese new year notice on the site. Likely that, wait til after tomorrow then check

I’ve recently made the switch to vaping from combusting. Nearly two decades of smoking, I’m starting to have respiratory issues. After my first purchase, Solo 2, VAS quickly set in and I ended up with a Splinter (on a bronze dna 250).

I went with the splinter due to wanting to try on demand convection, in addition to seeking a vape that allowed me to get big hits. The Solo 2 is great, but for me it seemed to lack in “extraction rate”; takes a while to finish a bowl, albeit super tasty.

I’m finding the Splinter gives me the big hits I was looking for but it is killing my lungs and throat. I’ve since purchased the Xl8r cooling stems and find it helps, but it still is affecting me pretty bad. I really didn’t want to run it through water, but is that my solution? I guess this comes with the territory for 18mm convection units (hot vapor) after reading another thread comparing them. Any tips or suggestions? For those that have experience with a variety of vapes, any other vapes I should consider that may be less harsh for me but still retain fast extraction, ie big rips.

Thanks to anyone that read this far. Appreciate all the input I’ve received thus far from a few FC’ers.
I mean if you are having respiratory issues you shouldn't really be taking big hits. If you run it through water you might be fine, I havent tried the larger hydro or drydro tube what ever it's called but that might cool the vapor down more.

One other suggest is try a different screen. I get my smoothest hits well using basket stye screen with finer mesh screen than stock.

Thanks for the input and suggestions guys. Appreciate it.

I got my Splinters before the switch to vgoodiez.com for US ordering and at the time you could get a longer plain stem from RBT. I find that stem to be cool enough for both wattage and TC with my V1 and my Z.

If you're running your Splinter in wattage you might buy a dna mod and use the available ecigprofile for more accurate TC. With that setup I can get big hits and fast extraction without stepping up past 385°. The Z is slower to get going and is wonderful after it warms up.

I've been saying lately that I'd rather not fuck with TC outside of dna mods where I've found it to be more rewarding. Honestly, the V1 works so well in wattage on my Wismec I should revisit my old TC 160 settings.

To your original question about cooler vapor I'd recommend TC with a DNA or DNA C mod combined with the cheaper RBT cooling stems. That or the Drydrotube @Grifo suggested if that plus the male to male isn't too wizard wand for ya.

I just bought a VooPoo Drag Mini. Will that work well with the Splinter V2? I was planning to run it in TC mode. I’m not too versed in the ecig mod world. Can I upload the specialized firmware for the Splinter on a VooPoo? I appreciate your feedback.

Nope, no firmware for that one. You'd need a DNA mod. You can experiment on your own to try for some TC, but easier to just stick to wattage we've been saying. That mod and others will work more than fine in power mode as designed

Yeah, it seems like TC with a DNA is savvy starting point for folks with more sensitive throats like @Jblizz. Wattage is a good way to guarantee easy big hits because the heat keeps building the longer you draw. It's just that with wattage you're self-regulating by feeling that heat whereas in TC you won't get hotter by drawing longer. Someone correct me if that's not the right understanding.

Yes, that is correct. TC regulates more so than wattage mode.

I guess I’ll just have to experiment and see what works best for me.

Some stirring in China. Just got a reply to a question I asked with my order. The sleepers have awakened...
Enjoy this anticipation and excitement man, these opportunities seem to visit less and less, for me at least. Most of the time the greatest thrill is in the research and the wait, getting it feels like an anticlimax bc all the excitement is over:lol:

Does anybody know how to hook a whip up to the Splinter V1? That sounds great as I am in agreement, the vapour is really hot! I can't find a 19/19 wpa in Canada but I found a 19/22 that fits nicely, but not with the rimmed basket screens that were included with the Splinter. Are there any screens that would make it work for me? I got the XL8R but I would still like it a little cooler. Thanks a lot for any help!

ddave's stems should work, they are for whips and fit my V2. Tubo makes very nice whips too (but their stems won't fit)

I use a short length of thicker silicone tubing as a reducer adapter to sit between the whip tubing and standard glass mouthpiece, if that makes sense.
I've also got a 19/19 male to 14mm male adapter and a 14mm female to whip adapter which works well too.
The silicone adapter is the right size to go inside the mouthpiece or over the whip adapter so I can use the same whip with either setup so I usually just push it in the mouthpiece rather than get the glass adapters out.

I'm gonna have to wait a bit, save up some for one of these dna's. Recent attempt at small groups was a pita, all the instructions to folks who've not used anything quite like this before... and the end result of very-near combustion a few times... well the TC on dna sounds more like a no-mind kinda thing.

Thanks for the simple explanation, @bossman !
Gotta wait for now. A recent road trip complete with pricey breakdown and a stop at my VERY FIRST retail cannabis experience have conspired to more than deplete my account.
We pulled up at Grassachusett's very first recreational retail outlet and there was no usual line outside in the cold; hey it was 9 am on a Monday! Two Town police officers stopped us at the driveway entrance to the parking lot but their main question was, "Medical or Recreational?" Our relief was clear and they gave us a smile. Mainly there for crowd and traffic control. The rest of the experience was pretty mundane but for the newness of the product lines made available to everyone.
I came out feeling as though I had 'been to the mountain and seen the other side' to paraphrase MLK. But my wait for this day has only been about 53 years (since my first toke).
I still intend to stay mainly outside the system, as I'm now in touch with some farmers, a very nice resource to have. Plus, quantities of recreational bud are limited and hours away.
As we pulled away from the store, to rationalize my spending, I made the analogy that, hey when you go to Florida, you have to stop at Disney and try some rides, no?

Came across this on RBT's IG story. Maybe the setting shown will be helpful for the Splinter V2, V1 & OG.

TCR of 120 seems low on that I thought most had it higher like 170-185ish.

Ahhh the ugly truth. This is my problem.

That’s a shot from Sneaky Pete’s IG....he uses the settings from @c_tipp
My TC was between 150 and 165 when I copied @Ctipp22's settings.

Also it's worth mentioning that Sneaky Pete, for all his great reviews and value to the community, knows less about the Splinter than most of the folks on this thread. His first look video is clueless. I'm sure he's got a better sense now; I'm just saying I wouldn't put the amount of stock in his mod settings as you might think given his vape knowledge generally.

I had the exact same thought when I watched his review. I’ve tried tcr values from 120-185 and for me personally 165 works best

Sneaky Pete seems to like some very light coloured ABV so it makes sense. I have my Evic @ TRC 170 resistance locked @ .243 and I would say it runs a tad bit hot, but thats how I like it :brow:

Be good to have a reference list /spreadsheet stickied somewhere in this thread where we could list 5-10 of most popular mods being used with the splinter. A place were people could post there preferred settings under each mod.
