Brilliant Cut Grinder

Fucking Combustion (mostly) Since February 2017
After stalking this thread for a good long while I Just caved and placed an order for one of these bad boys, got the whole shebang package in the hopes of shelving both my gr8tr and spacecase in one fell swoop. Saw on the site it said it can take 3-4 weeks to fulfill an order though, how long have you folks who have already received yours been waiting on average just so I can know what to expect?

I received mine three or four days ago, and am still running it through it's paces before I post a review, but I'm certain that you will not regret your purchase. @Grinders for Life is hitting the ground running with this one. This will most likely be, for many customer's, their final grinder purchase.

Oh I hear you I definitely think I'm gonna like this one. My question was just more regarding average wait time for the order, have you guys who have received them tended to wait the average 3-4 weeks or have you gotten them a little quicker?

This is really early times, first batch just went out, not sure there's really a good pattern to declare yet.

They're on top of things, guessing it won't be longer than they predict....then you'll love it.

You sir, are going to love yourself for having done so. For me, the BCG is one of those things that will bring satisfaction and pleasure, simply in its use for a long time. If you can appreciate the elegance of precision design, and I know you can, you’re going to spend a lot of time alone playing with this. :brow:

Like my homeboy @Ramahs I’m not ready (and not really sure it’s needed at all) to render my fully formed thoughts on my impression so far but it’s good. It’s very, very good, one might say I love it. I love everything about it! I love just looking at it in the light, after it’s done its job beautifully and gracefully and it’s sparkling as I’m enjoying its fluffy reward. It’s a marvel of engineering and a pleasure to just play with. I guess because of the material used, but it feels light and substantial at once; I didn’t expect the diamond surface being replicated on both sides to be such an amazing experience, but it is. Not to oversell it or spray hyperbole but it’ll change your life! I’m 51, this could actually be the grinder for my life*. Holy shit!** :o
But I’m still not ready to post any thoughts about my experience thus far.

:peace: Good people!

*Oh I’m still picking up at least a plate in Ruby Red when @Grinders for Life rolls it out. For sure. The point is, I won’t need to; it’s just a acquisition disorder... :disgust:

**As people of a certain age represent a big chunk of the recent cannabis converts (and good for them!), and as I too begin to appreciate arthritis pain & stiffness, I really believe that the BCG is coming out at just the right time as quite a few countries are or will be experiencing a senior surge.

Well, if you only bought 1 plate, then get the ruby red in another size. If you got fine, then go for a med. You won't be sorry. ;)

This is exactly my thoughts I posted when I got the beta unit. And, even with the diamond cut on the bottom, it's perfectly level. Good stuff.

I was up all night, reading older random threads and running around, being stupid here and there. Just about to finally wrap up my night of terror and I see a 1 in the corner and click. I wasn’t prepared for such a lovely dose of random kindness from @Jill NYC , one of my favourite people and suddenly I was smiling in the dark, not even thinking about muscle spasms and a flare of crazy Mega-Tone Tinnitus*. Truly amazing results from a known healing agent, the kindness of a stranger. Thanks so much, you made my day!

Sorry guys! Tbh, it’s appropriate for the good vibes to be shared in this thread. The main guy behind the BCG is a fountain of good vibes and pure integrity. Someday, we’ gonna be all, “remember when?”

Most of us who've received them so far were in the pre-orders, so mine was about 9 weeks but they literally didn't have them to send when I ordered plus I am in the UK.

It's really new, they spent a long time testing stuff which is why the big thread, but the actual grinder has only been in large scale production for maybe 5-6 weeks? Not quite sure on time and too high to bother looking through the thread to check. Not long anyway.

just_the_flu

they say im crazy but i have a good time
...fuck all you good people in this thread... the last couple pages FORCED me into finally picking up a BCG

...i must say the latest reviews on this page and the previous page was what i was waiting for before i made the commitment...

...now comes the waiting :disgust:... but i want it now-now!!!!

Can someone show pics of grind results of the fine and medium plates......thanks.
fxs84p.jpg

Fine: top line
Med: middle and bottom line.

I'm finding the best bet is to load the herb directly on the drill tip, this helps when it comes to squishing the lid on where it sort of disperses it around as you push. Placing buds like on the bottom line in the pic, as you would with any other grinder, causes more squishing and tearing and the lid will begin to be pushed down angled rather than flat.

The buds in the pics are as I ground them, and there's no need for ripping chunks off or breaking buds in half with this grinder. It just grinds it all, small amounts, large amounts, stems and all, and it seems to always end up how I want it.

The fine plate generates the most kief, which does get stuck to the base of the mid plate as you can see in the top right corner of the image.
The bigger through holes on the medium and coarse plates don't suffer from this nearly as badly. The coarse really trapped only the tiniest amount which left the bud in the best condition.

I've used the medium plate the most, but I'm a long way from deciding which I prefer. I do like the fine grind, but the medium is lovely and fluffy too. And so is the coarse.

I just fitted the fine for tonight's session

Almost there...
My @Grinders for Life Brilliant Cut Grinder arrived about 2 weeks ago.
After some initial issues of it being delivered to the wrong address and eventually finding it at the Post office, I was extremely excited about the small brown box!
I had not requested a specific color, so it was an even greater surprise when I opened the box.

I was lucky enough to be sent a Hematite colored grinder with a GOLD fine plate, HEMATITE medium plate and a BLUE coarse plate.
It is one sexy grinder!

I will leave a review soon, the grinder and all the plates need a good cleaning before pictures!
It has been my daily driver grinder since the start of this thread!
V1 Beta, V2 Beta and now V3 final version! Still love and use my V1 Beta from time to time!

Thread-less, jam free, smooth turning, perfect size and weight for myself and fun to play with while vaping!
An excellent addition to anyone looking to add to their grinder collection, as a first and last grinder or just to treat yourself to an awesome product!
Get one, you will not regret it!

Easy brother. Nice to catch a few posts from you, Im sure life has been very busy for you of late.

So cool to see you in true grinder Heaven for the first time in your life. But moreso than that, for you personally such a sense of satisfaction I imagine- YOU made all of this happen, in this manner, timeline and nature. You went out of your way to contact these guys and assist the process from the off to get things to where they are now in no doubt a fraction of the time it would have taken otherwise to arrive at such a complete product.

Whatever, at the very least, the outcome would have been different and we may not be looking at the exact same grinder we are today at this point in time.

So I'm just acknowledging that on behalf of our gigantic community because you certainly deserve a serious amount of credit for the heart and imagination you injected into this project.

And I know you did this for: Us, The manufacturers,, and last (and least;))...

Your own self! So you without question, deserve this moment. Well done and thank you on behalf of us all.

But at the same time, damn you Lazy! :rant:I really want one! Today I switched back to the fine plate on my Kannastor Gr8tr V2 for the first time in months. I got so fed up of having to brush so much surface area to get all herbage out. High high maintenance daily grinding regime for me.

Ive just been using the medium plate because it is a breeze in comparison to use, empty and keep clean etc.
But I have not been enjoying my vaporizers so much lately, unsatisfied with performance and vapor production.

So today I put the fine plate in and I was immediately amazed at the sight of the grind, I had forgotten what it is like, so incredibly fine and 10 x finer literally than the medium plate of the Gr8tr.

I vaped one vapcap load and immediately realised I need fine grind in my life- the flavour, vapor production and effects were all so much better from the material I put in there I got a much better return and experience.

But I'm pretty sure that over time the hassle to maintain the fine plate and just general daily awkward use how I describe will really get to me. Hence my desire for the Brilliant Cut Grinder.
I would certainly want the fine plate but I imagine the medium plate may be a little finer than me Gr8tr's medium plate.

So good job Lazy, hope everything is going well for you at home and at work currently.

We had to stop production and run some tests to solve some production problems. There was this grain pattern that was appearing after it was anodized. We ended up testing a bunch of different 7075 aluminium bars from different manufacturers. We found the one that finishes the best without that grain pattern. It actually machines better too, so the new grinders are even nicer!

The grinders should start shipping late next week, but it depends on which color you chose. Each color is a separate batch we send to the anodizer.

We'll try to get that ruby red out soon. I bet it will be incredibly nice.

Thanks @lazylathe. This project really went a certain way because of you. Thanks for reaching out and getting us interacting with this awesome community. I'm sure it wouldn't be nearly as good if we never crossed paths.

We hope we can continue to serve this community and create more innovative and high quality products in the future. Thank you all for your support. It means a lot to us. We're a small company just wanting to make things better.

Hello, and big congrats indeed on your unquestionably superb creation. I want one!
So nice of you also to keep sighf of this poing you make in exact echo of my point above.

The BCG is all the rage right now, it will get very popular pretty quickly I think.
I felt it was necessary to just point out the direct (understatement) role Lazy played in the development process. I dont think his efforts and contributions are acknowledged enough so I thought it was worth a mention.

And interesting how we both draw the same conclusion- that the project would likely not be where it is right now, or at least would be different, without the assistance and input of our genius resident vaporist.

"It's just been a bit crazy lately. We're still new and small. We're trying to scale and take one step at a time. When we start hitting our stride, we'll see what happens. We definitely need to start working with retailers in the US. That should drop the shipping time and shipping costs.

The shipping calculator was down for a couple days, but it is back up today. It should be $10CAD, which is $7.50USD, for shipping to the US without tracking.

We'll try to get the currency converter back up soon. It was glitching out and causing problems."

I agree with all you say & this is the grind I've been using. But I for one would not mind the grind being 1-1/2 to 2x as coarse. (Did I mention that I love a super coarse grind. :D) Maybe a 4th grinder plate option? :brow:

We'll see what we can do about making an additional extra coarse plate. We tried to make the coarse plate as coarse as possible without introducing chunks. We wanted to break it all up. Maybe show us a picture of your desired grind. We'll make some prototypes and try to hit the mark. If we can get it to work, we'll send you the extra coarse plate for you to test. What vapes do you use with a chunky grind?

Thanks for the feedback Summer!

I took the fine plate BCG over to some combusters last night, and it got their tick of approval. The mass density of the fine plate yield lends itself very well for huge hits with normal amounts. Generally the SLX would need to be chopped up a bit finer from the grinder so it can be pulled through a glass bowl, so it's great now having the ability to get the grind right straight up.

Using the hopper alongside, the clouds that thing was making and the potency was unreal. The fine plate is on point. Very satisfying filling it up, grinding it and seeing the end result. And even better enjoying it from there.

I also really like how you can grip the very base of the grinder when turning (as there's no section to avoid/grip above), and being able to single handedly reassemble it. In operation it is perfect. I've put a bit over a half ounce through it now and it's held up very well, but is starting to accumulate a small amount of build up in various places. It should be easy enough to clean with a toothbrush and some hot water, though I probably won't worry about that for quite a bit longer
