Hello . I’m thinking of getting one of these. I have a volcano and cloud evo already. Both good. Neither perfect.

Feel free to talk me out of this cos I’ve better thing to spend my money on.

And finally, I vape lying in bed. Seems like that would not be ideal with this vape but a deal breaker? Please advise

You have come to the wrong place if you are looking for reasons not to buy this vape haha. ITS THE BEST! Most people who get kinda get bored of looking at vapes cause they know they have the best. as for using it in bed. Very possible if you just put it on an end table with your rig and take one or two quick hits and your good.

Just a dude
I would not want to use this vape lying in bed. I wouldn’t even want to try it. Like the Volcano and Evo, the FP is designed to be used in a certain way for optimal performance. Maybe Im just a big baby and there are lots of members using this one in bed? I can imagine the evo or a bag in bed but the only way I would try with my VRod is with one of those big table-trays like at hospitals. If you have one of those things then hell yeah, get one now!

I’ve got a round tea tray and everything fits comfortably, I plan to have a dedicated area but for now it’s a mobile setup. I really do believe the FP is capable of being used in many scenarios with some thought and creativity, more than some people like to think. So you might well be able to use it safely in bed.

Thanks both. Side table could work for me. I would love to buy the vape that stops me buying vapes. At least desk top ones.

You indicate it’s better than evo?

I’m reading through this thread ,but is there a current consensus on best options
Thanks

What is your ideal temp for maximum flavor? I have tried between 605 - 625 and the flavor is minimal. I use water in my glass rig. I am interested to hear feedback from all of you other VRDO'ers.

Also, do you use water in your glass?

Happy Friday Wake & Vake.
Sorry for the mishaps through the video.
Time to buy more GonG connectors.
Double dabs, some rosin I can't remember the name, and Black Dog Kush Diamantes en Salsa.
There's an AOTA flower chaser bowl at the end of the video.

@NewVape710 - Hi Edwyn, wow...really, its been pretty quiet on most boards lately...maybe after xmas slow down or maybe lack of new and exciting products (I mean in general, not NV) to stimulate conversations. Dunno, but I think its a bit of both and I'm seeing it slow elsewhere.

I do not have a Vrod...I do have a SH with the Pan Head adjustabowl and I am PERFECTLY happy with it, tbh. I don't dab on my FP as I have dedicated bangers for that already and what I love is just hitting flower in my SH. It also works perfectly with a bit of crystallized THC or ground up shatter on top of a small flat load of flower.

I bought the glass bowls (from another source) and while I liked them, the glass gauze simply let too much flower through and I actually think the thermo's of the Ti work better...that is, bowl gets warm quicker. In any case, I have returned to using my adjustabowl with 18 mm post.

When I ordered my Adjustabowl, I ordered two stems. I don't know if you still do this, but at the time a bit of emery cloth was included in case you had a bit of a spur from machining the handle hole. I did indeed have some small fit problems and fixed them fine with the 18 mm post but some how f*cked the 14 mm post up (just doesn't fit tightly...I may have egged it out a bit with the emery cloth...sigh...NEVER give me hand tools! haha).

So, I just ordered another stem after reading about your views on 14 mm vs 18 mm air flow....that, and its only $20, right> :-)

I'm really not sure I have any suggested substantive improvements except to perhaps agree with the suggestion made above to make the SH without the dab trough if this lowers cost for a flower only SH. If it doesn't reduce cost/price in any significant way, screw it...leave the trough on there. Never can tell when you may need an emergency dab surface! haha

I hope sales of the FP are still going well. Personally, I still think you have the top dawg in this general category of vape. Well done.

Cheers

Here's a first ruff draft of a flowerpot tray for us to discuss over the weekend. Nothing's firm as far as the design goes.

There is alot of available space left. The 12x5x1 material blank works good as this is the same size we stock for the new rosin presses.

is dabbing with the showerhead terrible?

Im very inexperienced with concentrates. I dont have access to them often. But im wondering if I were to grab some, would it be worth using with the showerhead?

I'd make 2 separate holders for both the SH and Vrod carb caps, that way they can both be on the tray at the same time. I usually have both out on my vape station, since I have different dabbing attachments on both.

A whole lot of people here will say the showerhead is awful for dabbing. But personally I do not think its too bad at all. I keep temps around 590f. Lots of my friends enjoy bringing concentrates over to use it over there bangers. I hope to get the vrod one day to compare but the showerhead works for me I use concentrates fairly often.

I’ll throw out some stand ideas, but I’ll start with the post. :)

Some people are concerned about the angle the head sits at on the stand. An optional support post to hold it up might make those people happy. I’m not really bothered, but I might use it anyway. :)

If you do that, either a Y shaped holder going into another hole in line with the post hole or a curved or angled arm coming out from the same hole as the post could work (in the latter case by having a screw coming out of the bottom and a hole drilled out of the top for the post to screw into like this):

Obviously it should probably go out more so you could fit the handle and your hand between the two like picking up an old phone. This might also make battery chassis users feel a little safer with it if it was mountable there too.

Here are some comments on what you already have laid out though:

1. The cutout in the back seems less useful and more of a burn risk to me, so I’d probably prefer it in the front.

Since there’s room, I’d also make sure there’s at least a little room between the head (which could be all down one side if you went with the idea above) and the tools next to it. On the existing stand, depending on where you put the post it can be very close to tools or even prevent holes from being used.

Instead of just moving it to the front you could make 3 cutouts and just make the holes for bowls and tools in removable strips that went into those cutouts in any configuration you wanted.

If you do that, I’d consider making them a little higher or lower than the rest of the tray (with soft edges if higher) and maybe out of a different wood because I think it could look better than a single wood with the right combination.

2. I’d want more bowl holes for sure. I have a PanHead, a ShovelHead, a 14mm Stubby (which doesn’t have a good home but could probably sit in a 14mm glass bowl holder), and a 14mm glass bowl. I’ll probably pick up a couple more too, and not having enough places to put them in the current stand is a big reason that I’m interested in this new one.

One way to make things fit would be to put in the PanHead/ShovelHead cutout on each one with an 18mm or 14mm hole in each so any hole could work with PH/SH or glass or other bowls. You could even put a 14mm hole inside an 18mm hole and make them fairly universal, but the bowls would sit at a little different heights. That would probably be fine though.

Whether or not that part works for you, if you went with modular inserts you could consider making them 1/2 length so people with a few bowls could take up less space and people with more could double up.

3. That debowler is fine, but since I don’t dump mine daily I’d be more interested in something enclosed that would reduce the smell.

One design I’ve seen that I like is a box with a tapered round hole in the top mostly filled with a sphere (or dome). AVB dropped on the sphere falls between it and the box and into a removable container or just the body of the box, but the opening is thin (or even closeable) so it’s neater and hopefully the smell is more contained.

For the FP I do like having the spike, so either a small spike could be put on top of the ball or the existing one could be put through the ball with enough sticking out to be usable.

This one may be more complicated than you want, but ultimately I’ll probably get something that I can close or at least easily dump without dismantling the stand and maybe I’ll just put the grinder there or find another use for it.

I’m sure I’ll come up with some more ideas for the stand, but I need to wrap this up for tonight anyway!

Beyond the stand I was also going to suggest little ends or extensions for tool handles to keep them from being just threads at the end (hopefully they’d fit in the new stand), and one of the first things I tried to do when I ordered the ShowerHead was to work on a design for a cage around it like someone suggested on the last page. I don’t feel the need for it so much today, but I’d probably still use one to make sure other people and animals who are less familiar with it were safer around it.

Thanks for working with us on this again @NewVape710 , I hope we come up with an even better stand than the current one!

@YaMon would you prefer to stick with alum? Would you consider some hardwood. CNC milled either way. Such a large block of alum is going to be expensive. Please give me some idea of length and width and I will post some sketches for discussion. here are some ideas of raw material alum costs. 18" long x 8" wide x 2" thick is $115 | 18" long x 6" wide x 1" thick is $35
Wood makes sense, Cherry would make for a great contrast with the blued titanium!

Prior to a design, I think it would be great to hear feedback from all those who use the current stands.. what works, what does not. Really good to have some clear objectives so the solutioning/design may begin. For me a lot of my frustration comes from the debowler being too close to the head (burn risk) and also ABV getting everywhere when I brush out the bowl. It would also be nice to have storage for a brush, if not incorporated with the debowler, 2 adjustabowls, different post sizes, perhaps a landing area in the center for a rig. I've also seen some nice trays which have a matching magnetic top, which would be pretty slick if you wanted to somehow lay the head down and relocate the rig. How about a one size wrench for the flats and recess to store it? I thought about spots for storage containers, but I have far too many @JyARz and it would make the tray too big. Some things are better left off to K.I.S.S.

If the carb cap holder and the head holder were in line along the edge and reversable to keep the tray ambidextrous or have two holders both top and bottom of the right edge, one each for the head and the other for the carb cap. Would the carb cap holder be for the ShowerHead or the VRod cap or could it be machined to hold both?

For the debowler, I like to brush my bowl out right after it is finished and still warm. Not sure how it would work, but in addition to a spike and inverted titanium brush would reduce the mess. Right now I am using a S&B type brush and trying to hold the bowl over the debowler while I brush it and the ABV is getting all over. Being able to clear the bowl with the spike and the an inverted brush would be really slick. Perhaps the debowler would also be an insert so it may be removed and cleaned easily?

@YaMon A brush ring that fit around the spike and extended to just beyond the tip (with enough give that you could still use the spike with a little pressure) might be interesting. The only real drawback I see is that it would collect AVB in it and you’d probably have to remove it and get that out sometimes.

Orienting the spike sideways would reduce that, but it’d require another part.

@VaporWare I guess I would rather have a brush I can remove and clean with the debowler part of the tray, instead of having ABV all over.. certainly some testing would be in order. I think a firearm bore type brush sized to clean out the inside vertical walls of the bowls would be best, although it should also clean the screen.

I would prefer a brush or something too and I know this is alot to ask but maybe a removable insert if there is a place to dump avb? I always have my flowerpot on pretty much so I do not dump my avb into the stand for that reason. If i could just pick something up that fit in the stand perfect. That would be perfect.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a dedicated NV rosin press thread? Can’t sesm to find one, cooled at the website and they are exactly what I have been looking for.

I think what I was trying to describe would do what you want, but maybe I didn’t describe it well enough...and I haven’t tried to make one so it might be messier than I expect.

If I see a brush that’s similar to what I was imagining I’ll do a bit of experimenting with it. :)

I have been using NV quartz bead terp pearls today for the first time ever, with the most recent carb cap.

20 degrees F down already and still full vaporisation.

This pleases me.

Recommended for sure!

What’s the new temp you’re using? If you’ve tried cleaning them yet, what’s working for you? Mine are still a bit dirty from the first time I tried them...

Not cleaned them yet. I suspect I'll drop them in the same jar I drop the SiC dish in to clean em, my experience of cleaning quartz aint great tho. I might try torching one clean :)

I do glob mop the dish every time I use it and clean it to as new, daily. Not sure what routine I'm gonna settle on for cleaning the quartz beads tho. I might just deal with them being a bit dirty :)

One reason I'd like SiC balls is how easy they would be to clean, just drop them in hot water and give em a swirl :D

I'm at 565f atm, trying to find a sweet spot. 570f is where I've been at most of the day. I'm usually set around 590f, sometimes up, sometimes down, sometimes sometimes.
