I believe the reason for this is to clearly show the diameter of the hole, so you can find a glass tubes the same size...This item is misconceived free with each new alfa, giving you a second free mouthpiece....it

Nice thanks I will certainly be on the lookout next sale unfortunately I JUST bought a different vape for a higher price I wish I would have known about the deal lol..now I'm kicking myself lol

Maybe they improved the design and don't make it official so old customers don't complain ? I mean : if they would make the unit really airtight from the electronics, for ex... ?

Bought my Alfa around September '15 from Vaposhop .. Maybe some other customers from last year can comment ?

I sent them an email about the new oven lid with no holes in March of this year....They emailed back
that it indeed was a design change...Hope that helps

Got an Alfa for Christmas and liked it so much I bought another. Both broke within 2 months and Goboof doesn't answer any emails on warranty at all. Save your money and buy something from a company that cares. Just my opinion.

Riverflow, how were you using it? Were you running it on high for 15 minutes twice a day every day? Im coming up on 2 years with my original gen Alfa and it still runs like a top (knock on wood) but I also don't push it too hard. I stay on low and medium most of the time and usually my sessions are less than 5 mins. I never let it get hot for too long because I know thats wearing the battery. As soon as it gets that hot I shut her down and my session is over (the Alfa gets me seriously baked in 3 rips anyway). I also have other vapes that I use regularly, so the Alfa only gets used for like 12 mins a week and 95% of that is on medium and low. It just seems like trashing 2 of them in less than 2 months each is less because of the units overall reliability and more because maybe the end user doesn't understand the limitations of a vape of this form factor.

I second that! It's interesting to read that they have done some improvements (incl. to the battery!) but it would be nice to see, maybe even try them (or as close of an experience you can get us). I have an original Alfa, and it's still going strong (knock on wood). It's my backup piece, but I'm learning to love it now that my daily driver went on RMA.

Celebrating my 2 year anniversary with the Alfa. It's also my 2 year anniversary of quitting combustion. My Alfa still kicks like a mule and runs like a top (knock on wood). I'll never forget that first night with it...I vaped way too much and got so high that I just sat there for like 2 hours thinking about how high I was.

I remember the time when I was choosing my first vape, browsing this forum and reading all the online reviews. I never tried any vaporizer before and was so excited to dive into this new world of consuming.
Alfa was delivered to my home and it was a love at first sight (vapor). That was in 2015. I had to replace it after a year, but since then it is alive and kicking.

I rarely use it these days (damn butane vapes :), but every time I do, it reminds me of a period when it was just me and my Alfa, taking the high road.

Thank you @mccringleberry for reminding of this great vaporizer, hope it serves you for a long, long time.

I apologize-
I can not find the email response to quote directly, but I did ask about the new "deluxe" edition based on the thoughts in this thread...and Customer Service informed me that difference was in the Vapour Bowls. the Alpha "Classic" has Hard anodised aluminium and the "Deluxe" has Polished aluminium.

My replacement Alfa is from 2016 (updated from the original one which I got in 2015). I don't know if they
changed anything except color till now.

These were my initial thoughts:

The first thing I noticed about the new Alfa is the weight (noticeably heavier than the old),
the body is from one piece and they added some sort of rubber (really can't define material)
inside the hole where you attach the mouthpiece. The new Alfa gets really, really hot during the ten-minute
session, but surprisingly mouthpiece doesn't (maybe because of that added piece). Also, the new Alfa takes longer to heat up and sometimes shuts off on its own (very rarely).

Still, I think it is worth it. Love the Alfa.

I know but there certain features on the Fog and I'd also like to try a full conduction again instead of going for a PAX. How is Alfa for mouth-to-lung hits? I guess good cause I read it's has low airflow...

The Alfa draw resistance depends on how hard you tamp the (fine grind) load. Id say its medium airflow with a light tamp and too tight if the load is overtamped.
The Alfa shines IF you grind fine / tamp and load to the brim. Makes for an excellent pass-around vape. (with a MP adapter to avoid the hot MP issue).
But compared to on-demand vapes, its a hassle to prep the herb and loading it correctly is cumbersome. Im just not in the mood to fine grind most of the time. Its all about tradeoffs though. Doing that chore results in flavor that is out of this world (on low) and efficiency that cant be beat in a e-vape.

Anyone still using this thing? Celebrating my 3rd anniversary with mine. It still runs like a top with a fine grind packed tightly. Excellent flavor on low, big ass clouds from 4 second draws on medium. Thorough extraction on high. Performs so well it's known as a puffer's vape, I mean, the clouds you get from 3 second draws are crazy. I don't care that it's conduction, this vape is superior to the Fury lineup in all aspects except ease of loading. (I owned a F2)

I lost mine a couple of years ago. I still am hoping it will resurface one day.
I really did love it while it was around.

Glad yours is still churning out the clouds after 3 years.

I wonder if they will ever come out with a truly updated version. Probably not.

I would just like to reiterate the importance of that fact, I. E., given the intense conduction from the circumference of the bowl, as well as from the center of the bowl, it truly needs to be packed tight! Otherwise, the heat will overwhelm your herb and BAM...it overheats and tastes like shit!

I would guess that had the original makers of the Alfa emphasized this technique of packing the bowl they would have sold many more units.

Of course, it's still a small device with a short airpath requiring modification of the external mouthpiece, due to the heat it generates; but that can easily be achieved in any number of ways.

However, the Fury 2 is in my opinion, clearly superior to the Alfa in most, if not all, ways.

Probably no one cares, but I'm celebrating my 4 year anniversary with this vape, my first vaporizer and the one that made me say BYE BYE to combustion forever. It shows no signs of quitting on me. It has taken a secondary role because I have on-demand vapes that I prefer now, and fine-grinding is a hassle I don't want to deal with anymore, but when I am up for it, I'm rewarded with big flavor on low and big clouds on medium and high, from 3-4 second draws. Makes for quite enjoyable sipping sessions. Hopefully I can keep posting my anniversary posts in this thread every July until...forever.

I think the Alfa has better flavour than the F2 but it drops off faster. To me the F2 has the same flavor at 300 as it does at 400. Its good, but the Alfa on low heat for those first few hits gave a more detailed presentation of terpenes than the F2, it just made my taste buds dance more. But then it dropped off faster, while the F2 would retain its 'good not great' flavor for longer. When I want to really taste a strain, I fine grind and roast it in the Alfa on low.

I agree with you @mccringleberry , I'm digging a lot that Alfa and in term of taste and clouds I found it more interesting than the Fury 2. Although the F2 big points are the stealthness and smoothness. It's so small it's totally hided in your hand while vaping and that's the one I reach for when I'm sick and still want to vape (rarely happens though), F2 vapor never make me cough if used at reasonable T° , but, like it was mentionned in the previous post, taste isn't on the top even if I can't call it bad, just slightly muted, neutral.

Still love my Alfa but I don't see it for sale anymore in the retailers websites.
