I have in use now 6 months a Skeletor Kit with self made enclosure so far zero problems.

The same can I say from the Portside Mini then I have in use since 3 months, perfect for grab and go, also a fast charging time from unter an hour.

Certainly there’s gotta be a lot of happy owners of Pipe’s creations, his IHs have been in the wild longer than any I can think of, other than all of the pretty great DIY IHs that I’ve seen here and elsewhere. So you’re going to hear a lot of great things here about the Portside, Jarhead, Portside Mini & Skelly; I’d say that you can buy any of them and be happy with them, they’ve got a great track record AFAIK.

BUT my dear @$un unless you’re specifically interested in buying the Portside Mini, I really must recommend checking out the Flux Deluxe in the linked thread. It’s a newly released IH, so I cannot say anything about longevity. Can say I’ve been loving it and have really worked it out, trying to cause an overheating event but no dice. It just works and works, I always gave out before it would, lol!
:science: Testing = nap time!

They are also made by a member here, @mr_cfromcali and in addition to using top-shelf components and custom circuit board of his own design, it’s sleek & good looking and highly portable for a day or evening or weekend! Imo, he has gotten the size to its smallest, lightest form factor, the majority of bulk & weight is due to the three 18650s. The performance from a single charge still blows my mind, I love it. It’s definitely the most attractive enclosure for a portable IH out there imo* and you even get to pick out your favourite colour! And the same mad genius is coming out with another model soon, the Mother Fluxer.

* everyone has their own style and taste. I’m just saying of those that I’ve seen, certainly does NOT include any of the custom desktop IH enclosures by @phattpiggie or others. No offence meant to anyone! :peace:

@Jayar that’s at herborizer.com but it may only be available with the HerboTi vape. Most of his glass is available separately and I’m sure if you emailed Sebastien, he’s the owner/maker/blower of herborizer, I’d bet he would happily sell you one and ship it out! It’s a really interesting j-hook design that uses the same base as the holder for the HerboTi. Very sexy! :brow: Very French! :brow: Ooh la la!

I get a weird metallic taste from my 2018 M. is this normal? On hotter hits it tastes bitter. Also my stem chews up the tip o-rings every time I disassemble and reassemble. I'm inserting it straight and everything, no twisting or wobbling or rocking it back and forth.

I'm a little disappointed with this, coming from a PD

You and I seem to be some of the rare few out there who taste the stainless steel in the M. I also experience that with other vapes that contain stainless steel in the airpath. I do not have the same issue with any of the TI tips and condensers. It's strange and uncommon, but you are not alone.

Otherwise: Have you cleaned your M thoroughly before using it? That is very important, as there are residues from the production process in both the condenser and tip.

That should not happen, but I can imagine that somebody here (@Squiby?) might have good advise for you.

On occasion there are small sharp burrs of metal still inside the M stem that can catch the o-rings. If the is the case then either returning or sanding yourself is the option. However sometimes the stem/tube is just a bit on the tight side, and you'll find that a touch of dynawax on the o-rings makes a huge difference. So does just a bit of spit! though that doesn't last and needs to be done every time.

Tighter bodies/stems are better than loose ones :)

Thanks @pxl_jockey helped me out. Its a nice J-Hook/Sherlock Style and officially sold with the DigiTi, but perhaps it is available seperately on request. I like to use it with my Butan vapes frequently, especially with my Vapcaps. There is a similars one available with a hose instead of the glass mouthpiece.

Thanks for posting, im going to inquire about just the glass but im now intrigued by the DigiTi, just flicking through the herborizer corner thread. Since joining FC my vape wishlist seems to be ever growing!

Yes, VAS and VapCaps can be an item, growing hand in hand.

Quick! Hide your CC under your mattress, or your wallet’s goose is cooked!

Make sure you add Dynawax (or spit apparently) to the o-rings before you insert them. I always insert by gently twisting as I insert. That motion along with lubrication works well and I have never broken an o-ring yet.

That is, provided there are no structural defects.

Dynawax on orings? That’s just gross!

Just playin’. That stuff is awesome.

Im having trouble sourcing material for condensers locally. Looks like I’m spending all day online..

However I grabbed some Blackwood chunks that I’ll cut down for size, and the guy has a beautiful chunk of cocobolo that he’s gunna save for me. No time for the lathe today, so I’ll be studying up!

Hello. I just bought a bunch of parts but I forgot to add the Titanium XL pipe. I can't seem to figure out a way to edit my order that I just made. I'm using the 10 percent discount and since that coupon code can only be used once, I don't want to order the pipe separately since I wont get the discount.

On 12/20/18 I got an email back from Dynacap.
Thank you for reaching out and sorry for the delay in response. What we can do for you since your order has already shipped is if you would like to play a new order, I can refund the shipping cost after the payment is posted. Please let me know if you have any questions or need anything. Just let me know when the order is placed so I can take care of it for you. Thanks, Josh

Hello On 12/24/18, I ordered the OmniVap: Green XL Titanium. I noticed right away that the tip is loose (not the cap but the tip). I can wiggle it unlike my other XL titanium. I dont think replacing the O rings would help since it was this way when I ordered it new. What are my options?

It's defective, they're sending me a new one. If I run my fingernail along the tip-side end of the stem there's a ridge that grabs and cuts into my nail. It seems like when they beveled the end, they didn't ream it out from the other side afterwards.

Would the chewed up o rings be making this bitter taste or is it just inherent to the dynavap?

yes I swabbed it out with iso 6 times and then rinsed thoroughly with plain water and dried it before use.

It's not just a metallic taste either. It's a lingering bitterness that's pretty unpleasant and seems to intensify with any kind of strain consumption whether vaped or smoked.

So say I vape out of the dynavap and then switch to my PD with a different strain, i still get the taste until i go brush my teeth and tongue, which is inconvenient to say the least. i should just got an HI

between the defective stem and this taste I'm really disappointed.

your stem (or tip) is likely out of spec. try wrapping some rolling paper around the o rings and then inserting the tip as a janky solution until they get back to you

@fbustion I haven’t noticed the bad tastes you’re talking about, and maybe the torn-up o-rings have something to do with it, but if you haven’t soaked it in iso, cleaned it thoroughly with Q-Tips (or something similar) and run a couple of empty heat cycles where you *blow* through it to help remove any vaporizable residue, I’d try those things.

You could also try a Ti tip since that should reduce the metallic flavor if you taste it from SS. There would still be some stainless steel in the air path though since all the caps are made from it, but not many people talk about tasting it.

Using it empty I’m pretty sure I could taste it, but it’s not noticeable to me so far while actually using it. I almost always use a Ti tip though.

I'm going to let it sit for a while in the bathroom, and see if a thin layer of oxidation will help

I'm using Whip-it Premium and an Honest torch, woudl changing butane or torches help?

@fbustion you might want to try a Vaponic. Very similar in method but everything is glass. Once you own an original, you'll see how easy it is to make replacements (they are glass and they do break) for only a few pennies. There is a thread somewhere here about making your own.

I am not into butane vapes but I must admit, the taste from the Vaponic was about the best of any vape I have owned.

Hi all in addition to what everyone else has said....

re. ss and ti stem tasting bad; if you still have a taste after using iso, soap and water, bottle brushs etc. find someone that has a ultrasonic cleaner; 5 min. with water and a couple drops Dawn. People use these to clean jewelry, glasses, toothbrushes etc. I use them to clean my acetal spinning mouthpieces

re. the tip orings folks should get extras also when inserting the tip twist and gentle push wettibg with saliva, dynawax, mineral oil helps

well I finally got a titanium stem from Dynavap. Been wanting one for awhile, and took advantage of their sale for FC members. Here it is with one of my black acetal mouthpieces. I make several designs...

also note I placed a couple orings on the stem to orientate my index finger and thumb so I always access the carb hole by feel.

Maybe I just don’t get it?
Why is the “M” so amazing 2-me?
Stainless Steal seems 2 work fine?
Mostly I use a bubbler with it.

Is TI magic?
