The iPV5 is alright for "joules" mode. Joules mode is basically the chinglish version of temp control mode. While it works and I dig it, I am still gonna sell it.

even though it is pseudo temp control, it's still wattage at heart, but only a 20 sec draw time.

oof. another thread to follow. but at least i start w a Ghost fan... Ive a new splinter v1 (JANK) and a blackwood v2 on the way. Ive been swapping between a Kanger Pollex (:shrug:) and a Wismec RX200, with what i FEEL is better performance on the rx200... neither is special, though the rx can take AF (not sure about FJ) what am I missing? should i go custom fw?

Thanks so much. I had my 3 click set to warm up by default so I found that setting and scrolled through the options and selected Edit. That dedicated Edit function will be handy to switch to power mode for this log action and it's also handy to jump into either mode and adjust individual settings.

@eideal852 to answer your "what am I missing?" question, I recommend getting some sort of DNA mod and using the ecigprofile for the Splinter. I got a bronze Wismec DNA250 on eBay that I'm sure everyone on this thread is tired of hearing about and the performance with both my Splinter and Z is beyond reproach. I'm coming from a VTC Dual, an eLeaf Invoke, and a Wismec RX Gen3 Dual. The Gen3 is a nice fit size-wise but none of my TC mods come close to the performance of that DNA. And what's with the V1 and V2? Are you a beta tester AND a contest winner??

Are folks receiving their V1s already then? I knew they were supposed to be shipping this week. Super cool either way, congrats.

In other news, the Splinter does wattage cruise now on the VTC Dual running Tubo fw but the resistance is higher than it's supposed to be - or at least higher than it's been in TC. It goes higher depending on the wattage and at the 50W preheat was just climbing from .33 toward .4. At cruising wattage of 11 to 18 it was in the .28 range. Not sure if that's abnormal for wattage mode. I tried going into the Coils menu and locking various materials to .23 but it didn't change anything.

Thanks @KeroZen! I'm sure you're right and I feel better knowing that.

Preheated and cruising at 12W the Splinter performed amazingly. How long is too long to leave it cruising? Is heat building up in the coil such that if you wait longer it hits hotter?

Heh, yeah I believe theyre shipping, but my v1s are b grade rejects, functionally 100% from what I can tell, but hairline cracks in the wood, good enough but not good enough, yeh?:D

I'm almost embarrassed at how hooked up I am recently. I've been lusting after RBT stuff since it appeared in the vapors a couple years ago, but never got in bed. I purchased a Mi2 in dec, got on board with the IG to be aware of sales, went all in on the contest (time off ftw!). So in a month and a half, i'm: Walnut Mi2, 2 bgrade jank splinter v1s, and a cooling mouthpiece kit and blackwood v2 (yet to be received).

In LOVE LOVE LOVE, and so over the rest of my vape squad...

Small update. Getting a feel for the unit more and more, still only running cbd through it. 30W seems to be the perfect spot so far (I'm hoping to be around 380F), and I'm getting very even toasting of the abv. The hotspotting I mentioned happened again today, but at 45W (went straight from 30W to 45W to see if I could repeat it). It's definitly aligned with where the holes in the splinter are, and a dark line forms through the abv. Again, it's not a huge deal as I just turned the stem 90 degrees and that evened it out. Curious at which wattage visible hot spotting starts, but I'm betting it's above the wattage I actually care to sesh at.

As an adjunct to how yours is behaving, you might try rotating your stem throughout your draw..spreads out the number of stirs you may need to fully extract a load.

I can relate. I can't get over the performance of the Splinter and Z and it has me hard pressed to fuck with my session vapes.

I'm gonna start preaching wattage cruising now in addition to the DNA ecigprofiles I've been championing for the past week or two.

Have you tried either of these? The DNA heats more evenly and generally shows off my og Splinter more than the rx gen3 dual I had it on.

And as of last night I know how to cruise at 12W with a cheap VTC Dual and the results are excellent with less hot spotting than TC on the Gen3.

I haven't. This is my first 510 atty and my first mod box and like my third day using the two together hah. I'll def try different cruising modes and TC in the future, just seeing how much I can get done with VW first. Got the rx 2/3 so that I have the choice to put on AF or FJ.

Well, if Ryan just got the V2 prototype, & no doubt he approved it as he was quite pleased, I would think the production run would be after the Chinese New Year. So I would think March or April.

Has anyone yet received their V1 order from RBT?
I pre-ordered on Dec. 9, now looking for some idea of when mine might ship...the anticipation is just soooo strong.
Can I assume that when they do send something, they send a confirmation?

I've been waiting 6 months for a replacement mouthpiece for my waitlist Splinter

I ordered yesterday after the shipping cut off and got a shipping confirmation email with a tracking no. this morning so it should be here tomorrow morning if it all goes to plan.

Are you talking about V1? If so, they indeed come with 2 mouthpieces (also 3 screens, a brush, a dab tool, and a little hemp carrying sack).

Last night I did a side by side of V1, sticky brick jr and a nonavong through jhook. Was expecting SBJr to have best flavor and nonavong to hit the hardest, and for splinter to be middle of the road. I was surprised because at 25W (first hit, so no heat soaking) V1 tasted as good if not slightly better than SBJr, and at 38W, it hit just as hard as the nonavong. The ease of use (change the wattage) pushed it over the edge as the best performer out of the 3. Used same herb and same amount of herb in each vape, measured it out using the .01g bowl from the Ti tip of the vong. I'm a huge lightweight, so I got incredibly high. I have new respect for what @ohmygodimsohigh does lol.

I can't wait to share the V1 with some friends, it's so easy to pass around. Really need to start messing around with FJ to get that wattage cruise mode.
